What does it mean to "show"?

I realize how silly that question sounds, but I honestly don't know what consitutes "showing." At eight weeks, my jeans are snug, and I can no longer make a flat stomach by tightening my abs (I never had a flat stomach, but I could always fake it). My waist seems thicker too. Does showing mean other people can tell? That your regular clothes no longer fit you new shape?

I always think of "showing" as meaning other people can tell that you're pregnant.

RE: What does it mean to

Great question! So far, I have been able to hide it from my office but only because I am wearing my favorite jeans 2 sizes bigger than 11 weeks ago. I am also having to wear more blouses than cotton shirts because my chest is noticably larger. So does that mean I am not showing because I am able to hide it?

Anyone that sees me probably just thinks I am gaining weight. I can't wait to tell them next week so they stop talking about me behind my back, which I am sure they are doing

I think in my oppinion showing is when you can tell your belly looks pregnant. I can tell I'm showing, but it'll be a few more weeks before everyone else will know I'm showing and not just "pudgy in the middle!". I think it goes both ways.

I agree with Julie...to me, showing is when your belly LOOKS pregnant, not just thicker....:)

In the beginning I just looked like I had gained weight around the middle. I didn't start showing (looking pregnant) until about the time I was getting into maternity clothes at the end of the 1st trimester....

RE: What does it mean to

I agree with the majority: "showing" is when the belly outgrows the butt, thighs, and waist!

I'm at the stage where the particular clothes I wear can either make me look obviously pregnant, or just that I've gained weight. It's an awkward stage :)
