What do you Int/adv excercisers think about Basic step/ body fusion?

I'm wanting a new Cathe, and considering her new workouts for beg/int. Any of you Int/Adv exercisers get Basic Step/ Body Fusion, or Low Impact Step or High Step Circuit? Are they worth getting for those lower intensity days? How's the music? Am I gonna be bored?

i had basic step when i bought my circuit step at wal-mart(before that whole kit came out). and while it was a nice workout it just didn't to anything for me at all. its for a very beginner exerciser IMO. high step circuit i just did recently for the first time. it was a great workout for ligther days. my tubing was to short for the workout so i used all weights and it worked out really well. she does step workout then leg work on a higher step to keep the heart rate up, moving into compound exercises which also kept my heart rate up, then an upper body move(same used in the compound segment) then a core exercise.

the cardio step is lower with a few jumps but nothing liek a tuck jump more of a little hop. and the leg work didn't use any weights. i would suggest it for a light day myself. i haven't done low impact step or body fusion so i can't give you any insight on that.

I have done Basic Step when I want to get a workout in but don't feel like going all out. Usually I do it back to back :p :p To get in 1 hour. Cause I really feel like doing it once is almost nothing. I don't do this very often though. Usually when I want low intesity I just modify something else down.

I recently did Lo-Max step for the first time thinking it was going to be an easier workout... I was so wrong. It was pretty challenging, especially for the lower body.

Heather,

I think it's great. I use 8" and jump higher than they, and get a terrific w/o with it. It's nice not to have to go for more than 30 min. at a time sometimes. Some days I need a shorter time limit.

Personally, I found Basic Step great for the first two weeks and then I got bored. It my first Cathe tape (came with the smaller Walmart step), but it didn't get me hooked on Cathe.

WHen I got the standard club size step, that came with CTX All Step. That got me hooked on Cathe. And it's what I use when I don't have the energy or time to go all out with one of Cathe's more intense step workouts.

Sorry I don't have Body Fusion so I can't comment (my Basic Step is a VHS and only has that workout).

I guess I'm in the minority! I like Basic Step for days when I need something but don't have the energy for more than a light workout. I add intensity (jumping on alternating knees, rhythmic Ls, etc.).

I also like Body Fusion. It's a longer workout (I think it's 50 minutes). My Polar heart rate monitor says I get a good workout, too :)

I'm easing back into exercising after pregnancy. I did BS for a week (now, THAT got boring) and then BS / BF for a week. This week, I'm ready to go harder (Butts and Guts rotation).

So, the long of the long is yes, I think it is a good DVD. :)

I personally like Low Impact Step much better than Basic Step. I was bored with BS the first time I used it, but I thought LIS was pretty fun. It gave me a good workout. It's 40 min long so it's shorter than most of Cathe's other step workouts. Hope this helps, good luck.

IMH - Basic Step is a little too easy but maybe if you raise your step it would provide a better workout. I'll have to try that sometime. I like Body Fusion for a light day. Again, depending on the day, you may or may not want to raise the step. I also like Low Impact Step but I think I prefer Body Fusion out of the three.

I have BS/BF. They were great introductions to Cathe. I like Body Fusion and usually raise the step when I do basic step and add jumps for intensity. I absolutely love Low Impact Step. Great intensity in this one (for a beginner/inter level exersiser). I just recently got Cardio/Weights and I was surprized that I was able to keep up and the footwork was not too tricky. This DVD also comes with IMAX2 which so many, on these forums, love to death. I cant wait to ease into that one.
