What do you guys think of competing?

I have a couple people at my gym who keep pushing me to enter this competition in April. I can't bring myself to do it. I think I'd be way too uncomfortable oiling myself up & walking out on a stage in front of a bunch of strangers wearing a bikini. Which is kind of dumb considering I walk out onto a beach wearing a bikini in front of a bunch of strangers.........although they're all wearing bathing suits too so I guess it is a little different.

On the other hand, it would be nice to have a little trophy or something to reward all the hard work from the last 18 years. I just wish I could do it without parading half naked on stage.

I trainer I worked with did it. At first I was skeptical about it, but when she showed me her routine, it seemed pretty cool. You can choose your own music, clothes, make it your own. She practiced like everyday for months in her bathing suit, so by the time the competition rolled around, it was no big deal. It's VERY competitive. From what I remember, if you weigh more than 127lbs, you were in the "heavy weight" division. And they didn't divide up the women by ages which I thought was a little unfair. But they may do it differently in different states.

Hey Laura,

Check out www.cathysavagefitness.com to get some information on training for a competition. I have considered doing it just to be able to say I did it...who cares if I get a trophy or not? It's just something to put in the "I did it for me" column.

I'm the same way, Laura. I'd like to compete but can't even imagine getting on stage in those skimpy bikini's. Good luck with whatever you decide!

I say if you can do it without going to extremes, then go for it!

I'd personally never want to get up on stage in a bikini, but if you've got the bod for it, have at it! Also, once you get the dark tanning stuff all over you, you might feel less exposed.
