What do you do with the inerds?

Good Turkey morning. This is only the second time I've ever cooked a turkey. The first time I threw out the little treasure package that I found inside. But I know there must be something delicious I could do with it.

What do you do with them? How do you fix them? Thanks for the ideas.

Carmen.

I've always just tossed them. Mom would boil them and use the liquid as part of the gravy. then feed them to the dog. Some people use them in stuffing. I think my mom used the bits of meat that fell off the neck from boiling in the stuffing as well.

Nan

My mom's stuffing recipe is to boil the "inerds"/giblets and chop them up in TINY TENNY pieces and add them to the stuffing. It's crazy how good it tastes mixed up in there! But I always gross out having to cut them up like that.

My grandma used to cook and eat the neck! Sick. I toss the whole thing away, it grosses me out.

I am in a couple glasses of wine, and I read the posts as what to do with the "I-nerds" thinking it was some kind of internet nerd, not INNards of a turkey! Oh, we used to boil them and give some to the dogs, now we toss...

Haha - no wine here - completely sober - and I thought the same thing before reading the entire post!

Mine did the same thing! I never understood why, cuz there isn't that much meat on it, but must have been something there to go through all the trouble!

I do remember both DM and DGM boiling them for our dogs, but I have never had that much fortitude to anything with them either... I stick to white meat, NO fat, so those little "treasures" just don't appeal to me in the least ;)

I never thought of giving them to my doggies. I'm sure they'll love them and think I'm the best mommy ever. Thanks again and happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!
