What Did you Do Last Night!

Aaaahhhhh summer!! So many things to do, festivals, events, cruises..... Last night my family attended a local tourist attraction. An open air concert with the symphony at an old fort, Fort Henry c.1834. They played Classical music and fun stuff like Mission Impossible and a 007 medley. A fellow sang some Billy Joel and Elton John which was kinda cheesey but I couldn't help but sing along:p Later, people waltzed to the symphony in period Military uniforms and formal dresses which was lovely. The evening finished with a BANG as the symphony played the entire 1812 Overture interspersed with rifle and cannon fire as well as fireworks for the closing. It was terrific and I thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the stands with the stars overhead surrounded by my family and 1000 or so stangers. Doing the tacky tourist thing can be a whole lot of fun.

What did you do last night?? :)

Well my night was not near exciting as yours. I was busing looking for a rotation to start, and I played cards with my family. I guess it was fun for me.

I watched the premiere of The Village on the Starz channel. Is my life exciting or what?(note sarcasm)I need some fun things to do.

Went with DH and DS over to DH's cousin's house a couple towns over to hang out. They have a pool and we wanted to take DS for his first "swim" but it was a TAD bit on the cooler side and the usually heated pool was not heated last night so no swimming but we had a fun time anyway. :)

Boy, would I love to have a night like the one you had, Laurie.:) Last night I finished the book I bought from the airport, Good in Bed by Jennifer Weiner. It was, I thought the whole time I was reading it, a chick flick had it been made into a movie or TV show. And whaddaya know? When I flipped to one of the back pages and read the author's bio, I realized the book was basically the author's life and she was basically the main character. The book is also in development for a cable offering by HBO. I don't know why, but I was disappointed. Maybe because I wanted the writer to dig deeper. From her writing, I knew she had that potential. Maybe because it was too commercial. Maybe I'm asking too much. Maybe I'm ALWAYS asking for too much.:p

Last night I went to the stock car races for the first time this year. It was fun but I don't like the taste of dirt!:7

Kim, I love playing cards with my family, but we don't do it often enough:)

Waterlily, that sounds like my typical Saturday Night, I haven't seen the Village yet, I'm a big baby when it comes to scary movies.

Wendy Joey's first swim sounds like a great way to spend a Summer's eve. When my Girls were babies they didn't have the Swimmer diapers and if they had one on it ballooned to a huge size and looked pretty fun, and boy could it get heavy but the diapers said "good to 15 lbs" right:+ :+ :)

Pinky, I love a good read too, I have just started reading the 4th Harry Potter, they are wonderful books.

Wendy, I'm not much for the taste of dirt either but we used to go to the races often. It never mattered what was racing stocks, funny cars, drags, boats or my favourite Supercross races. Demolition Derbies are fun too. I always loved that there were so many families out at these events.

Don't you just love summer?! We're off to the beach today.

Last night was bliss for me. My DH has been at at a seminar since Thursday and I've got the 3 kids (ages 7, 4, and 1 1/2) who can drive you crazy. Yestarday was my clean eating / diet cheat day, but I was pretty good anyway.

So last night I got all of the monsters in bed, turned on some jazz music, made some coffee (also a treat for me as I've sworn off it since doing David Kirsch) and sat down to have dessert while I delve into the new Harry Potter (just picked up). But instead of indulging in guilty food, as was my intention, I put together a plate of a sliced Granny Smith apple, some peanut butter, and the most beautiful plump ruby red raspberries you can imagine.

Quiet kids, soothing music, pleasure reading, nature's beautiful color and taste, and a little indulging. AAAHHHHH! (Can you tell my expectations ain't that high!?):)

Yesterday, a group of friends and I went on a hike to Black Canyon Lake. It is a great hike-14 miles total-but the last 1.5 miles to the lake are HARD!! We climbed about 900 feet in 1/2 mile!! (I'm a GPS geek, that's how I know the details!) So....last night I took a nice hot shower (I was filthy dirty-the trail was dusty), watched part of "Stella Got Her Groove Back" and fell asleep at about 9:20! Not very exciting!!!

We had a packed day. We picked up my mother and went to my husband's aunt's annual barbecue at her house upstate, then continued on to my uncle's 70th birthday party which was about an hour further upstate. It was outdoors at a big ol country house they rented for the summer, and my Uncle's band was playing great music and we were dancing for hours! What a day! We saw both of our extended families in one day.

I'm pooped. :)

That sounds heavenly to me Lorrie! I love when DH goes out of town and I have the evenings to myself after the boys go to bed.

I watched the movie "Legend" w/ Tom Cruise, with the boys and then worked out my rotation for next week. I just read what I wrote. Oh how I wish I could watch a movie w/ Tom Cruise. I don't care how weird he's getting. I think he's hot.}( That was it for me.
I like playing games w/ my family too. We don't do cards yet. Trouble, Sorry, Candyland etc. It is a great way to pass time and spend time together.

I actually played golf for the first time this year, with my DH. Thank god he has the patience of a saint:) . He's very good with giving advice, but I only let him do that for the first 5 holes then I had enough. I asked him if he would like me to give him some tips as well, and that pretty much stopped him:D

Went to my father's campsite. He and his wife have a spot for their trailer in a private camping area about 15 miles from my house. My dd and I hung out with the "old folks" for a few hours. We left shortly after they lit their bonfire, because the other seniors came over and it just got a little to raunchy for little ears.
