What did the women say on the sinking Titanic

I thought maybe they said, "Where are my Cathe tapes???" ;-)

I'm sure this thread wasn't ment to be disrespectful and I'm sorry for taking it as such but lets remember that families were torn apart. Lives were lost.

You're right Kali. I'm sorry. No disrespect meant.

Deb:

no need to apologize, it's a joke! It was not at all disrespectful. Please, we do not need to practice "political correctness" about everything in existence. Laughs are exctly what are needed on these forums....

Well I'm sure there are better things we can joke about. Joking about Titanic would be like joking about 9-11. It's just something we don't do. I'm not saying we should be politically correct about everything. I just think it's bad taste to joke about a tragic incident that claimed lives.

C'mon guys... it was just a silly joke.

We live in an age where most women would rather get hit by a truck than gain 50 pounds. Isn't that sad? So very many of us live by the scale and have a rotten day for no other reason than the larger number on the scale that morning. With this silly joke I was just trying to lighten things up a bit and point out that life is short and we should enjoy it more -- forget the scale and the body composition -- and have dessert. I meant no disrespect.

Hey, dont worry. We all know you meant no disrespect. Was it funny? Yep. Was it in bad taste? Yep. But half the time thats what makes thing funny.

There is this fab program called nighty night (only in England) and its sooooooooo close to the knuckle! I mean, black and black humour can get! But its not for everyone...

I agree, eat dessert.

Wayne, I was still living in Hungary when Chernobyl happened. On the very next day (OK, the next day after we were actually informed what had happened) we had the best jokes -- with the worst taste of course -- circuling around. :)

Humor can be a coping mechanism. Sometimes it's the only way a person can deal with something tragic, even if it's a temporary way to deal with it. Doesn't mean it's right or wrong ... just the way that particular person, or group of people, are able to deal with the situation, at that time. I think it's the same as say, when we're insulted or hurt by something. We often react before stopping to think and respond instead, because that's the only way we can deal with the situation right then and there, on that particular day. It may not be the best way, but it's the way we need to deal with it, at that time, and in that particular circumstance. Hey .. we're human.
