What are your favorite spice mixes?

I'm trying to find some new mixes/rubs to use on my chicken and fish. I use one I mix myself (garlic lime chicken from flylady) and a good rosemary garlic one. Like them but getting a little bored with them. Any suggestions? Marnie

I usually season my chicken with:
lemon juice, olive oil, salt, pepper, crushed garlic, basil or oregano and maybe red chile pepper flakes.

If you are looking for a pre-done spice rub - I like the Emiril's original rub... nice spicey flavour.

I really like to use harissa paste on chicken. Harissa is Morrocan - I find it either in the spice section w/ other spice mixes/rubs, or in the ethnic sections. It's spicy and yummy!

I use Emeril's Essence for everything, so I don't know why not on chicken - BAMM!

I love anything Emeril too.

I also just discovered Watkins spices and flavorings through a close friend. I had never heard of them but apparently everyone has, they've been around since like just after the Civil War.

My friend's website is www.watkinsonline.com/cheryl.ehlert

I heard a ton of people say that their spices/rubs/mixes are fantastic and also they are known for their vanilla. Being someone that loves to cook, I'm all over that.

;-)

I'm from "Garlic City" so these are my favs:

I use the mesquite blend on nearly everything - we grill at least 5 times a week.

Other than just spices, I like to either watch food tv network or just check out the TV listings occasionally for recipes with marinades or rubs.

Then there is a great website: bbq.about.com

You can find many rubs and spice mixes here too :9

Have fun experimenting :7

i don't mix my spices usually. i pore on wine and then spices. i mostly use sage. or pore on lemon juice. if you use liquid, wrap it in foil so it doesn't spill out..

My family and I really like A1 Steakhouse New Orleans Cajun Marinade. My favorite use is to thinly slice up some boneless skinless chicken breasts, marinade it (briefly or otherwise) in this marinade, then quickly stirfry it in a little canola oil. It tastes great over brown rice--add some veggies, and it's a meal! :9
