What a good dog!

We've had our dog for 8 years, and he never ceases to amaze me. Today he, my dd and I were outside playing fetch. He's not a retriever, so he doesn't typically let go of the fetching object without a fight. He might drop it at your feet, but if you go to grab it, he'll grab it first. Then it turns into a tug-of-war.

So I threw it a couple times and, like always, he fought me for possession. Then my dd decided to have a go, and as soon as she came over to play, he dropped it at her feet. Then she picked it up and threw it (sort of), and the dog walked a couple steps, picked it up and dropped it for her again. As soon as it was my turn to play, it was tug-of-war again. How the heck do they know who they need to be gentle with and who can handle a fight? Amazing! He got lots of kisses from me today.

Hey Donna. Isn't it amazing how they know the difference? My dog does too! Wether it's with kids, other dogs that are smaller than him and now our Joey. He knows he has to be gentle around him. I guess it's just instinct or something!
