We're In This Together *~August~*

Hi everyone!

Today's w/o was Athletic Step. A gem in Cathe's step collection. Mark is on a different schedule this week, which means I will be able to knock out my workouts between 9:30am-10:30am :D:D. For me, that's prime time baby!

Colleen
I hope the kiddies have a good day at school today. I think I'm going to have those mixed feeling also.
JEALOUS of your King size bed! Those extra inches will make a world of difference I'm sure. Mark and I are not bed-compatible :(.
I love HR. I think it hits all the body parts well. I don't feel the same way about STS TB, that's why I always have to incorporate add-on's to it.
I could not watch Breaking Bad last night :(. Too many people trying to watch it and the buffer was incredibly slow. I watched Parenthood instead which is EXCELLENT. Peter Krouse is amazing. I loved him in Six Feet Under, another remarkable series.

Jen
Ha, ha, I get enough calories when it's TTOTM, don't you worry . The water thing for me is hard when I'm out in public, but you're right that I don't hydrate enough. I have a small bladder and a few sips will send me to a public restroom asap -- I HATE public restrooms. I think it's a combo of that, and "heavy" days that make me weak and dizzy :(.
Your cats sounds super cute. I love animals, all animals. If I had a lot of money, time, and a huge house, I would have like 3 dogs, cats, birds, bunnies, whatever!

Gotta run! Have a good one ladies!

Good Afternoon Gorgeous Gals!!! Hope every one is having a good Tuesday!

Sarah- Like Colleen said we are here for support and encouragement! I do the same as Natasha and try to focus on the positive things in my life when I'm feeling blue. I hope things turn up for you soon! I'm right there with you on loving all food! The Thai was great, I don't have it often because my husband Heins doesn't care for it, he's a meat and potatoes kinda guy.

Natasha-Wow! You are killing it with your work outs! I get tired just reading about what you're doing for the day ;) keep up the good work! Yes I do like Indian food as well, Thai is probably my favorite though! I can never seem to get it right when I try to make it at home though! That is awesome that you got to workout during your prime time hours!

Colleen- You do look fantastic! I definitely don't see saddlebags! Keep up the good work, it is surely paying off! :) WTG on High Reps! Yet another video I do not own, I am sure my wish list will get longer from joining this forum :p I hope your children have a good first day back at school! I'm so glad I have a few more years until I have to face that myself! I think you will really love the fitness Tabata premix! The CL portion fries my legs too much! Hopefully one day I will be able to finish it without having to plan a full rest day the following day! :) I am also super jealous about your King Size bed! Enjoy the extra space!

Jen- Your cats sound so sweet! I love Maine Coons! If I had room for a cat that would surely be the breed I would choose, I am a sucker for fluffy cats :) Good luck on hearing back about the job! I hope to hear some good news :)

As for me, I was riding my stationary bike while typing this but i think I just broke it! I lost all my resistance all of a sudden, boo! Maybe I can squeeze in HiiT 40/20 before Addie wakes. I am bummed! :( Hopefully Heins can fix it! I love having it as a back up when I'm just not feeling up to Cathe.
At any rate, I look forward to hearing from you all!

Rebekah
I noticed I spelled your DH name wrong . Sorry.
I don't consider my w/o's to be anything extraordinary. I usually keep it to a minimum of no longer than 60min, and I only workout 6X/week, with one of those days being Yoga + abs. I have snooped at some other check-in's (did I just admit that ) just to see what others are "up to" and some of the stuff just blows my mind!! There is one lady doing 2hr+ workouts, 6X/week! I think she may be a body builder though, as she has a link to her blog and her pics are astonishing . I'm not an obsessive stalker, just a friendly lurker ;).
BTW, I forgot to mention, you can be part of more than this check-in. I'm part of a few, but it's hard sometimes to respond to everyone. I make this check-in my priority :). I have never "met" so many positive and motivating people than on this forum. I feel sad that I can't hang out with them :(.
I hope your bike is not broken :(. Hopefully Heins will come to the rescue!
How long does Addie nap for? Does she take 1 nap or 2?

Jen
Any good news?
Raining here too, but hot as heck!

Bye bye ladies! Have a good night :)

Hi Natasha!
No worries about Heins' name! How do you like utilizing the workout blender? Your combos sound very effective! I am still super glad that I joined this forum, you all inspire me to do better! And I snoop on the others from time to time as well! Some women blow me away, they must have killer DOMS 24/7! I burn out too easily if I push myself too hard, 4-5 days a week seems
ideal for me. I used to do 6 days a week, but I was hungry all the time and always ate the calories I burned so the scale never budged! :-/ i didn't join any other check-ins because most of the others I was invited to had quite a few members and I didn't want to have trouble keeping up with every one. You guys are all so nice also! I think I chose a great one to start with :) it is a shame we are so spread out! Maybe we can meet at a road trip one day! :) that would be awesome!! As for my bike, the resistance belt snapped, Heins said it should be a fairly simple fix, hopefully it will be up and running by this weekend :) Addie just takes one nap now, it used to be 2-3 hours! It is getting shorter though, around an hour now :( after my bike broke I only made it through the warm up of HiiT, I'm sure before I know it I'm going to have to join a gym and start going very early before Heins goes to work, ugh! I am so dreading that :( but not finishing my workouts is happening more often, and I try to continue once she gets up, but she wont leave me be, literally pulling on my shorts the whole time. How do you manage to squeeze in your workouts? I don't know how you do it with Bella no longer napping! It is so admirable that you always keep up with it!

I think I'm going to take Addie to the park today, while it is still nice outside, hopefully it won't get too hot! I do not have a plan for my workout today, but am going to make sure I do one since yesterday's was a flub! I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!! :)

Hello Friends,

It's Wednesday already.

Rebekah. I used to be a part of 2 checkins. One was a Haters club of "hating cardio," with one of the members living in Tokyo. Supposed to get hot here today as well.

Colleen. Hope life is treating you well. With a new job, I'm hoping to rid of my super twin for a queen.

Sarah. Where are you? Kids back in school yet?

Natty.Jillian Michael is going back to Biggest Loser per request of the fans, it was announced on Facebook. My friend is into shred.

Last night, I came down with I think is West Nile. Huge mosquito bite and fever symptons. Fortunately, to have a/c to keep my body temp down. Not walking. It started as a cold from the crazy weather.
No word yet from the interview. One week should be plenty of time. We have been communicating though. During the interview, she did inquire about my unemployment which would be the only reason I wouldn't get the job. It's illegal in many areas to discriminate against unemployed candidates. I did job hunt last night cause I was too tired to walk.
Basically, social media jobs. Although, now there is a person in one of my groups who is vying for the same positions as I. My edge on him is that I am actually doing it. He has an education degree in English, not communications.

Have a great day!!

JT

Hi everyone :)

Today's w/o was Plyo Legs. I'm excited about Xtrain's Cardio Leg Blast cuz' it will be like Plyo Legs 2 .

Jen
I hope you don't have West Nile :(. I don't want to say that's it's highly unlikely, because of course anything is possible, but I'm hoping it's just a flu/fever and the mosquito bite happened at the same time. Everyone is getting sick here too, so perhaps a strong bug is crossing borders. Rest and take care. I hope you feel better soon.

Rebekah
It's true, the more/harder you workout, the hungrier you become. Especially if you are trying to lose weight (which I highly doubt you need to do! You look awesome!) but just in general for anyone really, it can work against them sometimes. Over training is also a big risk when you push your body over the limits. Listening to your body is so very important, and I truly believe that.
No worries about the nap getting shorter. It's normal. She'll just sleep more at night to compensate (well in theory anyway ). There will be sort of an adjustment period, especially when she's phasing out the naps. You'll be able to recognize this, as she'll just be very hesitant to go down for a nap and will fight you tooth and nail . And of course, she'll be tired at 4pm, which will make it hard for her to go down at night. I'm a stickler for bedtime, and was not willing to negotiate. I need this kid in bed by 8pm (the latest!) so I can have MY TIME! Oh the joys of parenting .
Ha, ha, how do I squeeze my workouts?? It can get tricky actually. I am not able to do diddly squat when it's just Bella and I. With a toddler, it is virtually impossible to have them sit nicely in the corner for 1hr while you do your thing (as you know already). You turn your head, and they are off shoving the remote down the toilet, or eating crayons . Mark has to be home, or I have to wait until she is sleeping. So basically I have to work my exercise schedule around his work schedule. It has been great for me this summer, but winter it gets harder as he works 12hr shifts. I have done my workouts at 8pm sometimes, which sucks the bag, but you gotta do what you gotta do right?
Have fun at the park! That burns lots of calories you know .

Have a good one ladies!

Today was Horizontal Conditioning :) In case you weren't familiar Rebekah, since I mention doing this about twice a week, HC is a series of dvds I've gotten into by Sandra Koulourides. It's alot of plank and core work, but also my upper body gets fried nicely, plus she always manages to work the glutes and hamstrings nicely (she'll give the planks a break to work legs then go back to core). Good stuff, but tough!

Natty- did you get to watch Breaking Bad yet??? I'm dying to "talk" with you about it!

Jen- I'm so sorry you're not feeling well. I just hate mosquitoes and ticks. One reason I stay indoors alot even in the summer . So many diseases you can get from those critters. Four out of seven people in my family have gotten Lyme's disease, including me at one time. Oh, and Mark actually got it once, too. Thank goodness for antibiotics.

Sarah- how are you doing? Hope to hear from you soon!

Later girls!

Hi every one!!!

Jen- I hope you feel better soon! I sure do hope it is not West Nile! Mosquitos are awful bugs. Take care and take is easy, we want you to get well soon :)

Natasha- WTG on plyo legs!! You are so funny talking about the kids! You hit the nail on the head every time! I was literally laughing out loud reading your post. Its amazing the trouble they can get in to in such short periods of time, I always know to be wary of silence, lol! Nothing good can come from a quiet toddler, Addie is a sneaky one! Im going to make an effort to get up earlier with her so hopefully she will nap longer, sometimes she fights me about it, sometimes she asks for "nap time", I hope I'm fortunate enough to get at least 6 more months! :) I bet working out at 8 pm does suck the bag lol my energy runs out at about 6! I am a couch potato after dinner, but yes we have to do what we have to do! Do you have Body Max 2? If so, what do you think?

Colleen- I am intrigued by Horizontal Conditioning! Thank you for telling me about it, I could definitely use some help in that area, I'm decent with planks, but I am pitiful when it comes to push-ups! I will be looking up a video clip momentarily :) I am ready for something new!

I hope you had a good day Sarah!!!

-Rebekah

Hello Friends.

Back and feeling better.

Natty-Where did you find the info on XTrain? I know the presale ended on 08/21 but nothing more. We need to get together.

Colleen-HC and Breaking Bad? Are you enjoying your new bed? My dream.

Sarah-Hello. Hope everything is OK.

Rebekah-Yes, I burn out quickly too. 5-6 days work for me. Walking until it gets too cold.

No news on the job. Not feeling good about it. But, I have applied to a few where it will be hard to turn me down.
My fever broke around 5pm last night plus I was tired all day and some muscle cramping. Yes, I did have it. Pulled the stinger out the night before the fever and used first aid cream to cool it down.
Another classmate has passed away from my class in metro Detroit. She was nice and kind to me back in the day although I had braces and glasses, etc. We lost someone in April. She wasn't living in MI but visiting there. Now, maybe 3 trips to Detroit this month all before the 20th.

Hi guys! I have just been really busy with the kids starting school. Their first day was on Tuesday and it went well. My husband and I always have a tradition of having a date day on the first day of school. We go to lunch and do birthday/Christmas shopping. My sons 9th b-day is on Sunday and the girls' is in Oct. and shopping is starting to get hard. It used to be we would end up at the lego store for all 3. But they have more than enough Legos  So that leaves us with electronics  They have no handheld/portable game units, but havent really asked for any. They like music and want an Ipod but I really want them to buy their own so they will take better care of it. So that left us at the books store. $200 worth of garfield, calvin and hobbs, and uncle scrooge later, I still feel like he might be dissappointed with "justbooks" (even though he LOVES to read). I can save part of the books for Christmas, so no harm no foul but still am trying to think of something brilliant.

Jen- I am sorry you werent feeling good. How come that company didn't notify you either way, wether you got the job or not! That would piss me off. Sorry, I know I'm not helping

Colleen - I ordered one HC :D It should be waiting for me when I get back from vacation. I think I must have missed oe of your posts about your kiddos forst day of school . I'll have to go back and check it out. Congrats on the King size bed. We just have a quenn too.

Rebekah - I'm sorry nap time may be coming to an end. My daughters napped untill they were 4. My son on the other hand was done by 2. They must have all gotten together behind my back and said "hey lets totally screw up moms days" I also remember times when I would leave them in the crib a little to long after they would wake up when they were like 1-2 years old and there diaper would be off and they will have peed in there crib. Oy Vay, just remembering this makes me not miss it at all.

Nat- I'm so impressed with your workouts that your coming with. Thinking I'm gonna have to keep those close by for future use. I too do a little lurking on other check-in groups. But am not down with 2 hour wo sessions. Is Bella bathroom problem getting any better?

I have been walking and doing alot of cooking for our next trip. I made 15 chicken pot pies, and a huge batch of beef barley soup, and about 1 dozen potatoe rolls for hamburgers. Today will be a huge batch of spaghetti sauce. I also made an apple pie, not for trip, just to have  It was really good.

Thank you for letting me vent about the dissappointment of Alaska.

Sarah

Hello everyone :)

Today's w/o was TTM (no compound legs). That hiit 30/20 just slays me! I did however raise my step height for the Step Tabata going from 2 risers to 3 risers. As Cathe says "if you don't find it challenging, raise the step or the weights. There is always a way to fix the problem". I knew from the get go that section required me to make adjustments, I just felt a little too comfortable staying where I was . That 1 extra riser makes a difference! I was huffing, puffing, and sweating a little more than usual :D.

This Sunday is the baby shower and next Saturday is the wedding where Bella is a flower girl :). I can tell that I did not lose the 5lbs I wanted to. My eating and calorie counting just was not strict enough this past month. Damn summer food and drinks! I do however notice a visible difference in my UB and legs; more muscle and just an overall leaner effect. I tried on the skirt I will be wearing this Sunday and it looked very good ;). Mark said he can really tell that my body is changing and that I look "hot". In his words, not mine. I'll take the lost inches over scale weight any day ;). (BTW Rebekah, the 5lbs were vanity pounds I wanted to try and lose for the upcoming events).

Colleen
OMG BREAKING BAD :eek::eek::eek:.
Ohhh, that show just peeves me the heck right off!! Now Hank is getting suspicious, right when Walter decided to quit!!! I didn't see that coming :rolleyes:. I love how he gave Jessie the money. Very cool . Well he was deserving of it anyway, what am I saying? Aaron Paul is so damn hot :p. Ok, ok, enough.

Sarah
I'm glad the first day of school went well :).
I love how you do Xmas and B-day shopping! I was a big fan of books as a kid. Still am :).
The bathroom problem is not good :(. A nightmare actually. I have not wanted to talk about it here cuz' I didn't want you guys to think I was acting like a bratty mom. Yesterday was awful :(.
I'm telling you, open up your own private catering company.

Jen
I'm glad to hear you are feeling better. Fevers are the only thing that really take me down.
The info on Xtrain is here:
XTRAIN Workouts
I'm so sorry to hear about your classmate dying. My condolences.

Rebekah
Yes, silence is bad. Very bad.
YES I have Body Max 2!! I love it!! The music is top notch and it's a sweat fest for sure! Very challenging, especially when done on an 8inch. My only complain, is that the moves can get a bit repetitive during the step segment. She does the same step combo's over and over. Once you've learned them, you're like "ok, get to the next combo already!". I don't find that to be true for any other Cathe step workout. Yes, I'm picky sometimes . Can you tell that I hate repetition?? ;). GET IT THOUGH! It's a must in your collection!

Have a great day ladies!

Sarah-Where exactly do you live? 15 pot pies and homemade rolls for burgers plus apple pie. I am SO there!! Still no word. Frustrating but only can move forward. Promoted myself and blog big on Twitter and LinkedIn.

Natty-Your man tells that you look "hot" thats good. Real good. Please take pics of Bella in the wedding.

Rebekah-BM2 Rocks! Love that whole series.

Madrid, my cat, was mad at me last night cause I brushed him and I had to take out some bad fur. He was happy prior to it. He has forgiven me since he's here with me now.

Hello girls!

I did Cardio Core Circuit today after not having done it for maybe 4-5 months. I forgot how much high impact is in it.... Still a good sweaty workout and my knees still feel okay (whew!). I did a few moves on my rebounder but I'm noticing I seem to handle some high impact videos better than I used to. My form with impact is better than it used to be and I'm really good at keeping my knees soft on the landing and bracing/tightening my core to soften the landing too when I jump. I even did some tuck jumps today! I still have to do them with a wide stance, but still! Yay!

Natty- crazy ending, huh? I was like "you gotta be kidding me...he has his epiphany on the can? LOL I just couldn't believe they did it, it was so nuts and unexpected. It should be a crazy 8 episodes next summer as they wrap up the series! You know what I just realized today? Aaron Paul really resembles an ex-boyfriend of mine from high school . Hmm, no wonder I've been so crazy about him! :p Subconscious much? lol

Sarah- Yes, my kiddos went back to school on Tuesday, too. Lydia's first real day of kindergarten was Wednesday as they do just a short orientation for them on the first day to ease them into it. She is such a trooper. I really don't worry about her succeeding in school at all. Dylan always struggled more with transitions but he seems to be loving school these days. I credit his first grade teacher...she is amazing! The kindergarten one he had (Lydia also has her) was/is really anal retentive (sorry if you hate that phrase ). She seems to expect kindergarteners to act like second graders .
Your food sounds amazing! I agree with Natty...you should totally look into catering! Maybe deliver to Wisconsin?? Hmmmm? :p
Oh, and which HC did you order? Those workouts are really tough but addictive! I just love what they've done for my core strength!

Jen- I'm so sorry about your classmate. :( Are you going to the funeral? I am really really bad at dealing with death, myself. Even if it's someone I barely know. It's just the finality of it all that really gets me I guess, and how quick things in life can take a left turn unexpectedly. :(
On the other hand, I'm glad your feeling better. :)

Rebekah- Horizontal Conditioning made me soooo much better at push ups! Even more so than STS actually! Fair warning...I'm known as an evil enabler when it comes to buying videos!

Have a great night everyone!!

Good evening/night ladies!

Sarah- Oh my goodness all that food sounds so yummy! Especially the apple pie :) I am so ready for fall/winter desserts!! Enjoy a slice for me ;) I hope you and hubby enjoyed your date day! That sounds like such a nice tradition, I am sure your son will love his books! My daughter enjoys looking at books and being read to more than any toy we ever bought her. I hope they are all enjoying their first week at school! What are your children's names and your daughters ages? Happy early birthday to your son! I hope you all have a wonderful day celebrating him turning 9 :) My daughter Addie has also taken off her diaper in the crib, yikes! That is never a good "discovery"! They sure do keep us on our toes!

Jen- I am happy to hear your fever broke and you are feeling better! Sending my condolences on the passing of your classmate. It's good you have positive memories of her.
Thank you for your input on Body Max 2! I noticed Cathe often has it in rotations but had never really looked in to it. I am glad Madrid has forgiven you! I had a cat named Lilly who would be furious with me after giving her baths, cats sure can hold a grudge when they want to!

Natasha- Good Job on TTM! The 30/20 slays me as well! Those power turn squats are killer! You are a brave gal to raise that step height! I am not there yet... Hopefully soon :)
I agree with Jen, please post pics of Bella as a flower girl! :) and of course you looking hot as well! Congrats on inches lost and looking good in your skirt! I know you are loving seeing all your hard work pay off! You look awesome in your photos I don't see where you are hiding these vanity pounds you speak of ;) Thanks also for your input on Body Max 2, I think I will get it, repetition may be good for me! I am SO uncoordinated, i have to keep it simple with the step or I get too frustrated!

Colleen- Good job on CCC! That is a tough one! WTG on the tuck jumps! I am still learning how to have better form and keep my knees soft. It sure does make a big difference, I still have to remember to do it though, haven't made it a habit. I looked up HC last night, watched her getting started video and got pretty intimidated by all those push ups! I bet you are getting a killer core! I have a feeling I would be cursing her a lot until I got used to it! Haha
It would be good for me though, my upper body strength is lacking!

Have a great night every one! Look forward to hearing from you guys tomorrow!

Forgot to add my workout in there, oops! Haha
I did the upper body and lower body portion in Turbo Barre, and did the core portion from Butts
And Guts. Also walked for a mile at the park with Addie, and chased her around the playground, that counts too, right? :)

No workout today! :) Just popping in to say HI!

Natty- I just LOVE TTM! That 30/20 Hiit gets me, too! :D

Rebekah- do you do TurboBarre alot? That's one of Natty's favorites! :) I'm a little less enthusiastic about Barre workouts in general but I do like the leg lifts, just not the thigh pulses and squats in releve. That move really hurts my knees so I tend to do bits and piece of that workout when I do pull it out.

Oops gotta go..they just handed me a file!
