We're In This Together *~August~*

Good morning :)

Yesterday I decided to venture out of my comfort zone and "attempt" both triple tabata premixes from CF and TTM. 24min of intense booty whooping with a slight break in between when I change discs. So what the big deal right? Why in god's green earth do I keep attempting Tabata in the early evening??? I just can't do hard cardio then. So that was my first mistake. Second mistake was there is no a/c in my spare room, just a fan, and we are going through another heat wave. Third mistake was running out of water mid-workout. I got through the entire workout ok, until the last Tabata on TTM (fitness Tabata). Push-ups and mountain climber's in the same circuit??!! I said "screw this" and quit :D. So for anyone who wants to try that, it is possible, just make sure all the planets are aligned perfectly during your attempt ;).

Colleen
No worries about the Breaking Bad spoiler :D. I saw a little bit of the teaser on FB anyway :D. Ok, so now I officially hate Walter. I liked Mike, and so that really pissed me off! Still not sure if it was Walter who killed him or if he killed himself . Greed is gonna bring that mother-f-er down I tell ya! I have a feeling Hank will start suspecting him and start watching his every move. I predict a bust while he is cooking the meth . That's the only way it can happen. If Hank does not get his retribution, I will forever be angry with Vince Gilligan . Oh and Jessie finds that nice Spanish woman again and they live happily ever after :).

Sarah
Oh, veal is very tasty! You should try it one day, unless you are against what veal actually is, which puts many people off. Veal sandwiches are very popular in Toronto. It's breaded and covered with tomato sauce w/cheese, and then you can put various toppings like hot peppers, mushrooms, onions, and then slapped on a big, fresh, tasty Italian bun [drool].
What do the kids think of Alaska? Are they up for it? How do you feel about the weather?

Have a great day :)

Yes, it's Tuesday.

Colleen-Never did STS-Total Body although I have it. You are encouraging me on this one to give it a try. No Cathe till it gets colder, which it is. Walking is doing me good.

Sarah-Social media is mind-boggling which explains all the "experts" teaching it. Please keep us posted on Alaska. Denzel is hot.

Natty-Your day at the park sounded like fun. Bummer about the Chinese restaurants there. Good thing to have friends for many years like your DH. Your meals sound very delicious.

Update: Last night, I was going to vent here about it then went for my 40 minute walk and chose to not let it own me. The person whom I did the program with and whom I worked with until she and her Bosses came to a party drunk then I quit has been a problem lately. She is telling other people from my cohort that I landed a job,not true. Mind you, I have not communicated with this person for over 60 days. A few people in the last few days have contacted me about it. One of them is a "stickler for detail" and may call her out on it. My life has moved forward in a huge way with lots of positive things happening. Her's is busy enough so she shouldnt worry about me. My hopeful employer is now going to further the process with the State of MI this week and next so in two weeks, I will know if it will fly or not. If not, I believe my blog will determine my future.
About my blog, the major media outlet online may have determined my blog benefits the greater good by speaking about unemployment. A unversity newspaper on the east coast is following me for social trends. A healthcare provider, I think is following me to share my experiences with their patients experiencing the same thing. When I post, I don't think about the stats, I focus on my craft and content to keep encouraging the unemployed. Getting caught up in those numbers could derail me.

Before I go do CrossFire I wanted to check in quick!

Natty- that BB episode was pretty crazy, huh? Walt definitely killed Mike, I watched the insider videos on the AMC site and they confirm it. I think Mike was holding his gun by the river bank in a sort "too late" effort to defend himself but by that time he knew he was dying so Walt took the gun out of his hands without any fight. The AMC video is so sweet and sad. Jonathan Banks is talking about his last day on the show and getting all choked up. Here's the link...hopefully you can see it since I know you couldn't get that one link I gave you before to work: Breaking Bad - (CONTAINS SPOILERS) Making of Episode 507, Say My Name: Inside Breaking Bad – AMC
The biggest reason I watch this show is to see how it plays out and make sure that Walt gets his comeuppance and that Jesse somehow comes out of it in a good way (I hope I hope!!). It bums me out when people say they may bail on the show because it's getting to be too much for them, like too intense or dark. I'm like..."how can you stop now?? Only 9 more episodes before it's over!"

Jen- your blog just seems to be growing bigger and bigger! Who knows, maybe I'll be reading about you in some magazine sometime soon...who's "up and coming" :D

Better get a wiggle on!

Colleen, Thank you for the compliment. You're not the only one that has mentioned it. Skinny Girl and Pioneer Woman, both of Food Network, started as bloggers. Pioneer Woman is still at it.

Another person whom had his change of heart about me. A very intelligent, hardcore CFO was actually respectful of me today in my support group. He was in my program in Lansing. Prior, he treated me like I didn't matter. I thank GOD for leading me this direction and guiding me through this. Grateful that I earned respect too.

Lost 7+ pounds. I checked my weight with sweatshirt and pants in. I credit STS, walking and my app.

Good morning ladies :)

Yesterday I went on a nice 5 mile walk with Bella to the McDonald's PlayPlace and back. I also stopped to look at a nearby school, since I think I have to enroll Bella soon for next year Sept 2013. I'm down to 2 schools right near our house. One is smaller and older, the other bigger and newer.

I also did 4DS Kickbox yesterday (30min). I like that it's only 30min, but what I dislike is that Cathe spends 10min of it just warming up . So that's really only 20min of punching/kicking combo's. I hope her newest one Hard Strikes is excellent. I don't mean luke warm here, I mean a great kick-butt workout .

Jen
Congrats on the lbs lost!! That is wonderful!!
You should confront that women who is giving wrong info about you. She has no business doing that. On the other hand, people should not take her seriously given her drunken episodes. She does not seem very credible anyway, so I wouldn't worry too much.

Colleen
So now I gotta wait until the Summer for it to end???!!! That sucks the bag .

Have a good one ladies!

Hello Friends,
Great interview today. I had peace and confidence prior and after. If I accept a job offer, you will be notified. Then, you'll be instructed to buy adult beverages and do the happy dance.

In regards to the rumors, I decided not to call her about it. It would only feed the flame and feed her need for attention.

JT

Jen - I think we would all be willing to have a drink in your honor and doo the happy dance. Congrats also on the weighht loss. With so much stress thats an accomplishment.

Nat- Your workout sounds like an *ss-whooping one, for certain.
Did you ever make those bean brownies? I've heard veal has a nice mouth appeal to it because it has alot of gelatin.

Colleen - Hows our mom doin? Are things back to normal for you yet?

I walked the dog yesterday, and the day before.
Hopefully we find out about Alaska today. I hate not knowing :(

Sarah

Hey everyone!

I won't be posting tomorrow cuz' we are going to Center Island :D. It's a small island (part of Toronto) that you have to take a Ferry to go to. When there, it's basically a whole fun haven for kids; rides, splash pad, parks, trails, ect. Also, we are taking the Subway, which means it will be Bella's first time on a boat and train! I grew up riding the train, and I remember how fun it was to go through the tunnels :D. That's the one thing I truly miss about Toronto :(.

I just finished PUB. I made a crying face half way through.

BTW, I PM'd a girl, her name is Rebekah, to see if she wanted to join our check-in (as per her post in OD). She has a lot of "offers" on the table, so I'm not sure if ours is the one she'll decide to join. If she comes over, then you'll know :).

Sarah
No one on the Cathe forums lives in Alaska :(. I told you it was a "separate" country. I hope your dream to live there comes true :)

Jen
Great news about nailing the interview. Fingers & toes crossed!
I will be havin' drinks for ya don't worry about that ;).
You're right about that women. Best to just let her be.

Have a good night :)

Hello, hello Sarah, Jen, Natasha, and Colleen! My little one has finally been put to bed so I can start joining a few Check-in's, yay! I look forward to getting to know all of you better :) First of all congrats on the weight loss, good interview, and success on your blog Jen! And best wishes to you Sarah about Alaska! How exciting! To Natasha and Colleen, I have never watched Breaking Bad but you guys are making me wish I had, sounds so intriguing! And also Natasha, this Center Island sounds like so much fun! I wish we had somewhere like that here in NC for children! I hope you and your daughter have a wonderful time! Also I completely agree with your comment on the upcoming Hard Strikes, I am really looking forward to it! No news here, it has been blah and rainy weather for the last 2 weeks, hopefully will get to take Addie to the park sometime soon! I am so bored with staying indoors! Did KPC today after a 4 day hiatus :-0 must never let that happen again! Which is mainly why I'm here, I want to report to you all in hopes you will help hold me accountable!

Good Morning Friends.

REMeeks. How are you? Where do you live? Work? How long have you been working out with Cathe? Welcome to the group.

Natty-Have fun at Center lsland. Walking to McDs justifies the calories. Yes, 4DS is too short with too much warmup.

Colleen-How was Crossfire? How's your Mom? Lydia? Ready for the weekend, yet?

Sarah-Looking forward to the update on Alaska. Wish I could visit you there. The last frontier in the Americas problably.

My life has been busy. Yesterday after posting, I called the guy from CA whom his company is supposed to move to MI. Well, no rush on that. He congratulated me on my interview and he encouraged me to take it if offered. He told me he called our alma mater. He said it was lukewarm reception. His views are opposite of the unversity's on some key issues. I believe my future is with social media and I plan to continue my blog if I become employed. So many people are in transition and my followers on Twitter can keep the message alive.
Heading to Lake MI in a few, I have cabin fever. Feel REAL bad for Louisiana and Mississippi. The President from that Parish called the Weather Channel and the engineers reassured him nothing would happen. Big Mistake! He was so worried about his people and animals in the community. Then, his roof blew off his house. Keeping up on The Weather Channel and Jim Cantore.

Hi Jen!! My name is Rebekah, I am a 23 year old stay-at-home mother of a very rambunctious 2 year old daughter! I live on the coast of North Carolina, and have been working out with Cathe for 2 years. My full story of discovery/journey with Cathe is here http://cathe.com/cathe-helped-me-regain-my-figure-self-confidence-and-lung-function-by-rebekah-meeks if you have time to read it :) she really turned my life around after becoming very ill after the birth of my daughter. Who knows what kind of shape I would be in had I not discovered her! And thank you for welcoming me to the thread! I am excited to hear about every one's fitness endeavors! No workout for me yet, waiting for Adilene to be ready for a nap, I'm thinking Cardio Kicks though :)

Afternoon girls!

I think I may have forgotten to check in yesterday.
Yesterday I did Horizontal Conditioning and today I did Kettlebell Kickboxing. Good stuff. :) Tomorrow I'm going to try and get STS disc 26 in...Plyo legs!

Welcome Rebekah! :D One of my best friends is living Charlotte, NC right now! She's not a native, though. She's originally from Indianapolis. I went to school in Bloomington, IN for optometry. I've been an optometrist for 12 years and have two little kiddos (Dylan-7 and Lydia-5) with my husband Mark. We live in western Wisconsin near LaCrosse. I discovered Cathe when I was almost 38 and I will be the big 4-0 on October 4! I'm fairly new to Cathe, but I quickly acquired almost all of her workouts in a short time frame:eek:. Not too easy on the wallet, these past few years! My hubby is pretty understanding though...he knows how enthusiastic I am about Cathe and my videos! :)

You are going to love being a part of a check in. It is really amazing how effective it is for keeping you accountable with working out and it's so much fun to "talk" with everybody and get to know people with similar interests! I love it! :D

Jen- my mom is back home and has been resting up. I've been trying to get a hold of her to see if we could all get together this weekend but I'm thinking she's not up for company yet. I just don't know how things are going to turn out in the end with her. We keep trying to get her to turn things around but she won't listen. You can lead a horse to water...:(
I think that's a great idea to keep the blog going even after you get hired somewhere. Who knows where it could lead in the future? Plus, like you said, getting that message out there is important and I think you are probably a real help and comfort to people in that position.

Natty- Have fun at Center Island! Nothing like an amusement park for kids. It can be a tiring day, but memorable! Is it pretty hot where you are? Drink lots of water!

Sarah- any word on Alaska yet? My sister's ex-husband works up there on the oil pipeline for BP. He does a lot of crane work. Unfortunately, his being gone all the time was a factor in their divorce. He would work 3 weeks up there and then be home for 2-3 weeks. Very tough on a marriage and on my niece, too. At one time, my sister talked about moving up there with him, but even then he would have been gone because where they work is pretty remote and they stay in cabins I believe. She said it was so beautiful up there, though. Definitely like living in a different country! ;)

Okay, gotta run. Later ladies!

Hi Colleen!! Two thumbs up on horizontal conditioning and kettle bell kickboxing, that sounds like fun! I will have to look that up :) Best wishes on STS Plyo tomorrow! I don't have STS but from what I've read Plyo legs is a toughie! That is fantastic that you are an optometrist!! I have so much respect for women that work, have kids, and make time for fitness! My hat's off to you! I am sure it is far from easy! I look forward to hearing more about Dylan and Lydia! :) I can totally relate to the Cathe obsession not being so easy on the wallet! Haha, I don't have too many, but sneak a download here and there, it's so hard to resist some of the oldies that are around $10! I am very excited to finally be a part of a check-in, you all sound wonderful! I hope you don't mind bearing with me as I get to know every one and their respective goals and life situations. With that being said I did just finish Cardio Kicks, that was my first time with that one, it was fun, she cracked me up when she said "Sweats flying everywhere! I need an umbrella!" love when she throws in some humor once in a while! :)

Good morning everyone :)

Yesterday's Center Island trip was lovely. We spent the entire morning traveling to get there by car/subway/Ferry, and then back. It was exhausting! I'm glad I wore the appropriate foot attire because my calves were a bit sore by the end of the day with the constant standing/walking. I'm glad I'm fit enough to do those day trips with ease though, because it really sucks the life out of you!! Bella had a fun time, going on all the rides and splashing in the splash pad. She was super tired once we got home. And now she woke up with a fever, so she's sick :(. I hope it's a quick in/out virus.

Ok, so let me vent here for a little about my trip back to Toronto. I believe that small city living really has transformed me, since moving 2 1/2 yrs ago. The city was unbearably congested. The people were all in a rush and very rude, pushing their way through crowds as if they're the center of the universe and the most important human to ever walk the planet . Waiting for the ferry was insane! No personal bubble what so ever! I felt like I was in a herd of cattle waiting to get slaughtered the way we were all bum-rushing each other  . It was just a bunch of people rushing, rushing, rushing. Very frustrating and infuriating at times. I can't believe I used to work in that shitty environment! I'm happy to be away from all of that now :). It's great to visit and all because it truly is a beautiful city, but living there is different animal .

Welcome Rebekah!
Glad you decided to join us :). I remember reading Your Story and finding it very inspirational. Congrats on finding Cathe and making health/fitness a priority in your life. I know how hard that is with a small child. Finding balance and time for yourself is extremely hard sometimes. For me personally, it's a daily struggle to find that energy for myself and my little one, especially when in a sleep deprived zombie state :(. There are not enough hours in the day it feels like (or too many hours, depending on how well your child behaved ).
Here is a little synopsis about me:
My name is Natasha (I'm 33yrs young :)). I live in Bradford, Canada (near Toronto). I have a 3 1/2 yr old girl named Izabella (I call her Bella for short), a husband (Mark) and 2 cats. Right now I'm a SAHM until my girl goes to school. Before that I worked in the Pharmaceutical Retail Industry as a store manager. I was with a company called Rexall for 14yrs.
I found Cathe last year, May 2011. Before that I used various workout DVD's (Jillian, Bob, Jari) to lose 65lbs post-pregnancy. One year later I have a pretty extensive Cathe collection (downloads are evil!!!) including STS. I also enjoy outdoor activities like walking, hiking, tennis, ect. As for food, I'm an everything-in-moderation type of gal. I'm a big foodie, I whole heartily enjoy food, and you'll probably see me talk about it in a lot of my posts :D. So that's it for now! Welcome again :)

Colleen
I'm sorry to hear about your mom, but I'm glad she was able to go back home and rest. Hope your sister is doing well also.
OMG yes, it been very hot here! I don't mind though, Summer's here are short enough :(.
Have fun with Plyo Legs .

Jen
Have fun at Lake MI :). I always feel bad for people having to endure natural disasters like hurricanes, tsunami's, earthquakes, ect. I feel incredibly blessed to live in an area that is fairly safe. My heart breaks for those that lose loved ones and homes :(.

Oh wow, I wrote a long one!!! Today's w/o is LBB and perhaps a short S&G cardio thrown in for good measure :). Have a great day ladies!

Good Morning Lovely Ladies!!!

Jen- I hope you had a great time at Lake Michigan!

Natasha- I am happy to hear Bella had a good time at Center Island! I hope she feels better soon! I could only imagine how exciting all that must have been for her! I bet she is all tuckered out! :) I am sorry about all the madness in Toronto! I can't stand situations like that, people rushing everywhere with no regards for others! Makes me so anxious! Glad you are back safe and sound!
Your comment about not enough time in the day/too many hours in the day cracked me up! Yes it totally depends on that days behavior. Addie is an angel at home, but an entirely different beast in public :p she's the kind of toddler you just can't take to a restaurant! I wouldn't trade her for anything in the world though!
That is so neat that you live in Canada! I have never known any one from there. So glad to hear you are a foodie as well. I love to cook and bake, it's the main reason why I will always need Cathe haha, I have no will power when it comes to sweets..... :-/
Wow LBB and S&G cardio! You go Natasha!! Hopefully that will inspire me to me more ambitious with today's workout!

Not sure what's on tap for me today, I've been throwing around CCC, Crossfire, ad Intensity, not sure what will end up being the winner! My mother-in-law is coming down today to abduct Addie for the weekend. I am looking forward to some down time but will miss her! The apartment is just too quiet when she's gone! :( Hoping for a date night with my husband, his name is Heins BTW (yes... like the ketchup) haha, but last time his mom watched Addie for us he didn't get off from work until 9:30! Oh the joys of the heating and cooling industry in the summertime! Sorry that was such a long post.... I talk too much even on the Internet lol hope you all have a wonderful day!!! I look forward to hearing from every one! :)

Hello Friends.

Happy Friday! Long weekend here in the States then back to the grind.

Rebecca. Yes, I do remember your story as well when you mentioned it. Love inspirational stories like yours to keep me/us motivated. Last December, I had to replace my furnace then water heater although lasted much longer than predicted by the experts. Warning, I own most of Cathe's workouts since I've been with her since 2002. If you ask, I will encourage you to purchase. Back in the 80s, I started out with Gin Miller, Keli Roberts and Jane Fonda. Was considered to be in a Fonda workout at one time plus was certified thru ACE as well. 1994, I discovered Cathe for her "Wedding Workout," but since I was going my divorce. I didn't purchase.

Colleen-Hope things are going well. People can be stubborn like me. She knows you're trying to help but she may need space. What are your plans this weekend?

Sarah-Alaska and weekend, please update. Thanks. When my sister was single but I was married, her and I joked around about going skiing in Alaska to find Tommy Moe. He won gold at the winter Olympics in 1990. We thought he would make a good hubby for her.

Natty-Sounds like Chicago or Detroit the way you described Toronto. Yes, its beautiful but its also crazy. I would be worn out too. LBB after the walk?? You are brave.

Friday. No word on decision about my interview. Expecting to hear next week. Another blogger, a fashionista, is following me daily now on my blog. My drive along Lake MI was great. Cabin Fever real bad. Many high-tech firms are now following my blog. Promoted it last night to many TED chapters around the country. Plus, I have a fashionista blog following mine. Worked too hard to gain my followers on Twitter so I will keep blogging even if I do get that job. She is aware of it and thought it was "noble." Saturday is BoneFish Grille, a friend is treating.
Also, the guy from FB whom I've known. Distancing myself has been good. He's lost so many friends and refuses to deal the reasons why. Sensitive. Yes. But, its costing him. Its been hard for me too. Used to have a crush on him for many years but no more.

PLYO LEGS!! So awesome! Why don't I do those more often? :p So many workouts, so little time! When I started disc 26 this morning I went a little too light on the weights so as I went on I heavied up on the dumbells and it was perfect. :) I just love working my lower body!

Tonight we are having Mark's family up, including his mom (my MIL). Oh joy!. Time to bust out the wine for Colleen! lol Then tomorrow we are going canoeing with my two sisters (Areka and Arianna) and their husband/boyfriend. Should be a good time! Not sure if Danielle is coming yet, though. Then tomorrow night we are going to grill out and have a campfire in the back yard.

Jen- Is Bonefish Grill a seafood restaurant? I sooo wish we had more seafood in LaCrosse! The only thing we have is Red Lobster :(. Mark and I took the kids there last night for dinner. It was terrible! When we were in Florida last month we ate seafood nearly every night. I was in heaven!! :D

Rebekah- Some great workout choices you have on tap! I love all of those dvds! I just did Crossfire on Tuesday and I so love what Cathe does with the firewalker in that one! I know what you mean about it being too quiet without the kiddos. Mark and I always complain we need more alone time, but as soon as someone takes the kids from us even for one night we get all anxious! We are one of those couples who would really rather just have our kids with us all the time. I figure with both of us working we spend too much time apart as it is. We rarely go on vacation or even out to dinner without them...although I hear ya on the kids being good at home and then suddenly turning into animals out in public. I'm like...seriously, they really are well behaved! lol

Natty- Oh I hear ya on the anxiety of being in large crowds like that. :( When we were in Orlando and tried to go to Magic Kingdom for the fourth of july fireworks it was just the worst experience. All these people flooding out of there, trying to get to the shuttles. It was so overwhelming. Talk about herding cattle! It's just impossible not to feel people in your personal space bubble when there is that big of a crowd in such a small area. It just makes me shudder thinking about it. Have fun with LBB and S&G!

Sarah- Hope to hear from you soon! How is it going trying to get back in the workout groove? There's nothing like an extended vacation to break up the routine and derail the workouts. Definitely starting back up is tougher than once you've got the momentum going!

Gotta run! TTYL

Alaska is no go :( I am extremely dissappointed. Just couldn't come to an agreement on money. I feel guilty for being disappointed, because it has nothing to do with me. Nothing does, as a stay at home mom, everything is kind of about others. Uh oh, I sound like I'm not happy. I am happy, a change would have been really nice though.

I have just been walking every night 2-3 miles.

It's nice to meet you Rebekah. I was going to reply to your post on OD but then chickened out:eek: The check-in group has really helped me be more accountable for exercise. My problem is cooking and baking too ;). Like Nat I'm another foodie. :D

Your day does sound fun and exhausting Nat. I get that feeling often when I go to the city or some really big event, that I'm nothing more than a cow being herded.

Jen - I was hopong to hear some good news about your interview today so I would have an excuse to drink :D

Colleen- Good luck with the in-laws. My MIL called today, I let in ring through to voicemail. I don't want to talk to her ;).

Sarah
