Well this sucks....I think

I know others have posted here about Lyme; I think mine is back, or is at least showing itself in a way I don't care for :p I posted several days back about a burning sensation in my face and scalp; almost like they are hypersensitive. Tonight when I was chewing, I got a sharp pain in the left side of my face from my ear to by jaw bone (wondering if that could be sinus related though). I REALLY don't want to go back to the dr and have to pay all the $$$$. I may just wait and see what happens because so far, the burning has been very mild and transient. I haven't even had it at all today, though I'm sure it will start now. I'm telling you....I don't think this crap goes away. I think it's just something that causes you to have to go on rounds of abx every several years or so. Maybe I could look at it like a thyroid prob or maybe BP or cholesterol....stuff that will probably always need meds. Anyway, thanks for reading.

Tomorrow is disc 3 of STS...Meso 1...I'M SCARED!!!

I do not know anything at all about Lyme but wanted to share with you something else. Several people in my family suffer from a condition called Trigeminal Neuralgia. The symptoms you have listed can be associated with this. It's not life threatening, just can be a pain, literally, from time to time. Here is a link:

It can sound scary with the "worsens over time" bit, but my grandmother has had this since she was 40 (now 90) and it only flairs up once or twice a year for a day or two each. Unfortunately it is one of those things that can be hard to diagnose unless it runs in the family.

I hope you feel better soon!

I don't think anyone else in my family has this, though my mom describes a similar pain, she thinks is from sinus stuff. It would have to be sometimes associated with something like MS. Great.

I think the relation to MS is rare. There are 3 diagnosed people in our family and two more of us in the beginning symptoms (which last for years before getting mildly worse). We have been told by several different doctors (we are fairly spread out across the midwest) the symptoms are most likely caused by pressure on a nerve in the face from a blood vessel that can at times expand too much. My grandma takes 2 alleve when her face flairs up and that seems to reduce the inflammation / pressure enough to relieve the pain. I notice she has more flare ups when her blood pressure gets too high, which would seem to support the blood vessel idea.

When I overexert myself and get my heart rate up way too high for too long my face starts to tingle and then go numb. I have noticed over the last few years the numbness lasts a little longer than it used to. We'll see where it goes and how long it takes to get there.

I didn't mean to worry you over MS or anything like that. My intention was quite the opposite. Our family experience has been that this is an occasional annoyance, nothing to really worry about in the overall scheme of life.

I definitely appreciate the info. You could have said that cats cause TN and I would've freaked out :p. That's just me.
