Well, at least it wasn't KENLEY.

Re: Project Runway.

LeAnne won but I would have been happy with her OR Kato. Still, I think all three women will be big fashion stars (or at least LeAnne and Kato). Don't you?

Kenley did a good collection, but Korto's and Leanne's were even better. What a great show! Very exciting to watch. :)

I liked Korto's collection best. The pieces all flowed together, but still were different from each other. Leanne's were pretty and well constructed, but every piece looked the same-I got bored with it. And Kenley having two pieces that were so similar to what had already been show by other designers, c'mon! And her voice and attitude drove me nuts. Good show.

Even though like many I do not like her attitude I liked Kenley's collection the best. Her style really appeals to my own personal tastes. Kortos was also very nice. I did not like Leanne's collection at all. I thought it was kind of bland. It is not that I do not think that Leanne is a talented designer I just was not feeling the whole petal effect and I tend to like darker colors. Regardless like someone else said I think they will all end up being successful. Look at that red haired women from one of the past seasons whose name I can not think of right now. She did not win but she seems to be doing very well.

I agree with you--I liked Kenley's collection the best. But, as Nina and Michael pointed out, these were seen before by other designers. I snickered when Tim said she needs to take a fashion history course, LOL! But Kenley designs the kind of clothes I would actually want to buy.

The designer you are thinking of is Laura Bennett, I believe. I loved her stuff, too.

And Top Chef is November 12th!! Can't WAIT for that to start!!

I loved Leanne's and Korto's the best. I liked Kenley's collection as well but Leanne's and Korto's seemed more interesting and inspired.

They had an article in our local paper about Kenley as she is a FSU grad. She said that she watched the others participants take the judges suggestions and felt that they sacrificed their own style in order to win. She said she wanted to stick with her style. Although I agree with that to some extent, Leanne, I believe was in the bottom 2 in the first challenge and then Tim told her to edit her design and looked where she ended up. I don't think Leanne sacrificed her style for the judges.

Why did you title

your thread as such!!??? Some of us haven't watched it!!

I did not read any of the responses so hopefully that helps.

Next time how about "Project Runway Finale - Spoiler Alert"! thehehe

Thanks

I loved LeAnne's the best - although I might have been biased as she is a hometown Portland girl!!! :) Her designs were very innovative - although a bit repetative. I did love Kortos long green dress - it was very beautiful and interesting in the shape.

I think Kenley had some great designs - but some of the fabric choices are SO 80's. The handpainting was beautiful on some of them - but like the judges said - that has been done. I have definietly seen her wedding dress before. She still needs an attitude adjustment. I get text messages from the show and one was a quote from her bitching about Tim being allowed to be a judge. If anyone would be impartial - it would be Tim. Just more excuses...

I'm a total Korto fan and I'm pretty sad she didn't win. I agree, though, with the thought she may end up like Laura has. I think that would be great!

Kenley get all over your whiny self I'm so glad I don't have to keep listening!!! I know that is incredibly rude and mean but when I'm watching her have this fantastic opportunity and she's discussing how difficult it is with a nasal tone... ugh.

Leanne just seems like wet paper to me. I'm not a big fan of hers and agree that each piece looked like every other piece even if it was a different item.

Jacque, I thought the same exact thing about Leanne! "Bland" was the first word that came to mind. All that creme & pastel green, on every single outfit, and all those icky "waves" on every single outfit, while I think she was head & shoulders above the other designers throughout the season (which is quite possibly why she won), I thought she totally dropped the ball on the final challenge. Except for her wedding gown. I ADORED the wedding gown, I thought it was fab!

I didn't really like Kenley's stuff either. That dress w/the hideous print--OMG! And the green dress w/the puffy sleeves that looked like shoulder pads..........either the dress was straight out of 1989 or the model is a linebacker in her spare time.

I liked Korto's the best. Not crazy about the colors, but if all the outfits were in blue & purple I'd own each & every one. Except for that wondrous gold dress--I'd keep it in gold, it was the most stunning dress I think I've seen on the show! So I was actually, surprisingly, rooting for Korto last night. Partly b/c I thought her collection was the best, & partly b/c I'm kinda tired of seeing her cry. :p Oh, & I def. teared up when she brought her daughter out, that was so touching and adorable. :)

Korto's going to be a HUGE star. I was particularly struck by one remark made during the judging. Something to the effect that she designs for a "wide range of sizes." It's true and it can only help her to get her work out there on more women. And I was NUTS about the clingy cerulean blue gown. Yummy. One of the things that kills me about high fashion is that 99% of what you see on a runway is designed for SHOW and virtually unwearable as actual clothing. I saw what LeAnne did and I thought it was pure art, a total collection with a real point of view but, as is typical, there aren't many women who could or would wear any of what she produced. And Kenley... You know, when I studied art at Ohio State we used to have visiting artists in residence, in every discipline (painting, sculpture, ceramics) every three months (I HOPE it's still like that...). After I finished with those dull foundation courses everyone was required to take and was actually taking real studio painting classes I started by doing these abstracts that were inspired by dermatological diagrams I'd seen in a moisturizing lotion pamphlet when I was a kid (proof that artist's find inspiration in the craziest places). When critique time rolled around all the naive young students (of which I was one) sat around telling me their honest opinions and Julie Langsam, the visiting artist, said something about my work being nearly identical to that of Joan Miro. I was clueless and said I'd never heard of Joan Miro to which she replied, with raised eyebrows, "You need to find out." Then she gave the whole class a talkin-to about how, as artists, it's our JOB to know the history of art so that, at the very least, we aren't unwittingly doing stuff that's already been done. Later, a more experienced student, a little further along in the curriculum, ran into me when I was working, looked at my paintings, and said "Hey, nice Miro's!" I was like "Who IS this Miro guy???" He actually invited me to the Fine Arts Library (yea, we later dated) and pulled out some books and showed me. I was STUNNED. I couldn't believe everything I was doing had already been done. I may have been tempted to blow off Julie's criticism if she'd been the only one to remark but when the bodies started adding up and I realized everyone around me seemed to know something I didn't I started to see I had some learning to do. Besides, those Miro paintings were really amazing and I liked what I was seeing. I didn't get mad about the negative criticism because I understood on an intuitive level that it was meant to help me. Also, Julie Langsam, believed in me and, in her 3 short month's at school, personally taught me SO MUCH one-on-one. Now that I'm older I love imparting what I know to younger artists who really want to push themselves. Julie was right. Whatever your craft, it IS your job to know what proceeded you. Unlike Kenley, I was willing to accept this fact (after I pretty much got beat over the head with the facts!) so it's really painful to watch Kenley try and defend what she does out of ignorance. No matter how wearable her clothes are, how pretty... If she's always surrounded by people who know she's just doing what's been done before and those people are in a position to help (or hurt) her career, she's finished before she even gets out of the gate.

Regarding Korto: I remember in season 2, Jeffrey won, but Uli was getting offers before her models even left the runway. Uli's clothes were very wearable, and people in the industry who saw the show wanted them NOW. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Uli is doing much better financially then Jeffrey is. The whole "winner" and "loser" mentality of those reality shows is silly to me. Everyone of them is talented in a different way, and has something to offer. It's perfectly possible that Korto will be more financially successful than Leanne.

Tim Gunn said he thought Kenley's collection looked great, but seeing it "walk" on the runway was startling. He said everything was kind of stagnant, and the clothes didn't move well. He said they might be good on the pages of a magazine, but not so great in the real world. Interesting.

Nance, I think by "winner" they mean the contenstant who gets to deposit $100K into their checking account. ;)

I'm sure not getting the $100K was part of why Korto was devastated. But did Heidi have to tell her "you're OUT"? I'm sure that didn't help any. In the long run, though, I think she'll make a lot more than $100k.

BTW, at the risk of sounding catty, I think Leanne looked like she needed the $ the most. Maybe now she can afford a haircut, some make-up and some nice clothes to wear. Korto already looks great. :p
