Welcome to 2014!

We made it to Thursday!!! :)

I took Tuesday as a rest day. Yesterday I did an upper body workout. Tonight will be a 3-3.5 mile run. My legs are still sore from the leg workout I did on Monday although they feel better today.

Mom is doing better. Her leg pain is subsiding a bit. She went to the eye doctor by herself on Monday and yesterday went to work at the library for a couple of hours. She has an appointment with the neurologist today.

Alisha ~ Did you get to the movies on Tuesday? If so, what did you see?

Hi Tricia.

Jane- I did go to the movies on Tuesday. I saw 'Ender's Game' and it was great. Harrison Ford was great. I love sci-fi anyway, but the movie was very creative.

I am glad that your Mom is feeling better.

Tricia- How are you?

Its ttotm and I'm tired. I might do some belly dancing later. I have a business meeting this morning. I will probably do something exercise wise tomorrow. I need to get back in the habit of it.

Maria is eating. She seems to be doing better with her appetite medicine and the subcutaneous fluids. Her nose is not as runny and she seems to be breathing better.

Happy Friday Evening Ladies!

Jane - I hope your mom gets some relief without the Rx drugs! Those are so terrible! Good luck with your training for your races! I know you'll do great! How did your mom's appointment with the neurologist go?

The weather has been nicer here and not too cold. Of course, we're in for another arctic blast next week. Luckily, not as bad as the last 2!

Alisha - Glad you had a nice visit with your aunt and uncle! It's nice to visit with family, but I, too, am always happy to get back to my routine. I'm glad Maria is eating better and I hope she continues to do better!

I'm hanging in there! We missed seeing Ender's Game, but will download it as soon as it becomes available. The books were great! I plan to get back on the STS track next week. I'll be starting over.

I've been wanting to get on and catch up, but I have had, not one, but two, cuddling beagles all week. Milo has become more cuddly and needy since he was sick. Now, I end up with both of them in some configuration on my lap just about every night. I love it, but it does interfere with me getting online!

So, enjoy a great Friday night and I'll see you two tomorrow! Cuddling beagles notwithstanding!

Today I am doing 30 min. of Petra Kolber's Dance off Belly Fat and then Stretch max with the band. I already had a snack and I'm dressed for it.

Tricia- Beagle sandwich!

Jane- How was your Mom's appointment with the neurologist?

Alisha

Hi Alisha!

Hope you are having a nice sunny Saturday! We have rain. Just north of us - and I mean literally just down the road, it is snowing!

Yay for Petra Kolber workouts! Have you been getting the emails regarding the yoga site updates? Just wanted to make sure.

Have a great day! My plan is to do a grocery list (a proper one, haven't done that in a while) and do laundry. Tomorrow, I'll go shopping and try to start my workouts again. If I don't get to it tomorrow, I'll definitely start back on Monday. That's the ideal plan. That way I get STS on Mon., Weds. and Fri. and the rest is cardio and one yoga day.

Have a good day!

Hi Jane! Hope you are having a good weather day, too!

Happy Sunday!

I thought I posted on Friday but now I remember that I had to take mom to PT in the morning and I got in late to work and didn't take lunch.

On Friday I did 200m runs mixed in with swings -- starting at 50 and going down in reps by 10 after each run.

Today was a 8.7 mile run.

Mom's appointment with the neurologist went fine. He did not put her on drugs because she only has minor nerve damage. He wants her to have a MRI for her back because she has pain there from time to time. So she will go to that sometime soon and then see him again on the 19th of February. We were against her having the MRI just because we think it's not necessary. Her back pain is gone for the most part but mom wants it done. My mom does have problem articulating her pain problems. She seem to have turned a small corner earlier this week and her pain and nerve issues seem to be less in severity. I really think the PT is helping more than anything.

Tricia ~ Beagle cuddling sounds more fun than being online. I'm glad your weather has been good. We had sun yesterday but it was brisk and in the 50's. Today it is sunny and a bit warmer in the 60's. It rained during my run but not too bad. I hate the winter this year. It's warm then cold then warm again. I think it's suppose to be 29 on Wednesday night.

Alisha ~ Great job on the workout. Hope you're having a good Sunday!

My right arm is still bothering me. My Dad wants me to get an xray just in case I broke it. I have been known to have broken bones before. So, just walking this week. :p Every time I try to adjust myself in bed my right arm just hurts so bad :( I plan to go for a walk today.

Maria is doing ok. She is eating and enjoying herself. Her little face is a little swollen but overall, not bad. She seems to be feeling better and the congestion is gone. We are still giving her subcutaneous fluids. She hates it but its necessary and she seems to want to eat better when we have done that.

I am starting to study for my next exam.

Hi ladies!

Enjoying a nice 3-day weekend!

Jane - Glad things are improving for your mom. Hope the MRI comes out clean and her back pain is not anything serious. I know what you mean about this winter! We are getting another blast of really cold air this week, but not as bad as the last 2. Still, I hate when it gets down into the single digits! Nice run yesterday!

Alisha - Sorry about your arm! I really hope you haven't broken it! Study, study! You seem to do that a lot. I know you'll do great on the exam.

Glad Maria is eating better. I hope she improves enough to get off the subQ fluids soon and gets more back to normal eating habits.

Glad you are getting the updates. I've really only seen one so far.

Have a great Monday! It's back to the old grind tomorrow and Martin is back from Florida, so the chaos will begin again. He just makes everything so difficult! Everyone feels it when he's in the office. Sigh. Oh, well. He'll be gone again in a couple of weeks.

Feeling real beat up after my chiropractic (aka pressure points) session yesterday.

I barely ate yesterday and I gained two pounds. Whatever scale:mad:

Anywho, watching the calories and I hope I'm capable of going for a walk later. I plan to walk the whole week because my chiro doesn't want me to do anything strenuous or any lifting.

I have to go to Medical and check into the status of my case and then I have a webinar and I might have to go to the site this afternoon but I might not.

Its in the 70s. I do believe that was the shortest winter on record.

Alisha

I am taking a rest day. Yesterday was legs...waiting for the doms to kick in soon!

I have to stop at mom's on the way home. She went to work today but I'm a bit afraid that she is counting on the MRI to show something that the doctors will be able to fix. I don't think that will happen. I think she has chronic pain from the abuse that her body has been through and that there won't be anything they can do. I really hope there is nothing there although I don't like to see her in pain. She has made great strides in the last couple of weeks which I credit to PT. In December she couldn't barely walk upright and was not able to go to work and now she is doing that. When I ask her if the pain and numbness is going way or getting better she can't answer that although I can see changes. Anyway...at least I can see progress. I think she just wants a quick fix and I don't think that will happen.

Alisha ~ I can't believe I'm saying this...but I want your winter!!! It's going to be 27 tonight and the next 3 days it will barely be 50. I'm such a baby.

Weight yourself tomorrow...the scale will be nicer to you. Hope you feel better today.

Tricia ~ Sorry that your boss is coming back. My old boss was like that. You could feel the energy in the office shift when he was around. Now it's like a library around her. I'm glad you have a nice long weekend. We got President's Day off in February. I guess to be different.

Not in the swing of exercise yet, I'm still healing from my PT on Monday. He won't let me workout just yet. I can walk, but thats it.

I have to go back to Medi-Cal this morning and then we have to go to Social Security because those idiots thought that my Mom should have her benefits discontinued because they believe that she is still employed. She retired in October people! Anywho, so we have to go fight that fiasco.

Jane- You can have my winter. It appears that winter is over. We are going to be in the high 70s within a few days, and then its off to the races. Summer here we come. Normally we don't see these temperatures until April. I feel gypped because I like our version of winter.

Tricia- Do a meditation about not absorbing your Boss's bad attitude or energy, it will help protect you from his ick.

Alisha

Yesterday I ran 3.5 miles. Here is tonight's workout:

4 Rounds
200m Run
20 Ball slams
20 Swings
20 Tire Flips
20 Weighted Sit ups

Alisha ~ Our winter is usually 60/40 but it's been more like 40/20 or 50/20. My electric bill is the same amount of $$ as it is in the summer. Usually we don't run the heat that much in the winter and we save a lot of money that way. Not this year.

Enjoy your walk and warm weather.

Hi Tricia!

Happy Friday ladies!

I can't believe that I haven't checked in at all this week since Monday!

Alisha - Sorry you're feeling so icky! Hope you are feeling better by now! The scale is not your friend! Forget about it! You'll be back on your workouts soon and that scale will regret showing you that extra 2 pounds!

I want your temps! We are in the deepest freeze here and it's going to last until late next week.

I weighed this morning and I haven't worked out in just over a week and I'm down below 145 again! First time in over 2 years! 144.6! I'll take it! I have been eating a lot of vegetable soup that Stephen made. I'm thinking that has helped. That and the fact that I'm eating smaller portions because I don't really want food much anyway.

Jane -I know your mom is looking for something quick and simple to help her. I hope with your help that she will be able to accept what the doctor says. I'm glad she's improving! Even though she can't see it. Maybe you can help her to see it through your eyes.

I'm sorry you're getting really cold temps for your area! We are too and it's miserable! This old house doesn't hold heat that well and I've been totally miserable. We've been hitting the single digits every night below 5 degrees and barely hitting 20. Today was 16.

Boss was only back for a week! Yay! He's left for Florida again for 3 weeks!

I am restarting STS next week. I'm hoping this weight loss is enough to motivate to really hit it and stay with it for the full rotation! I really do want to get back in shape again!

Have a great night and enjoy your weekend!

I'm still on rest by dr. orders for my arm. I am going for an xray of my arm tomorrow. Then, its off to chiropractic/torture and I hope that will be it for my arm. I plan to see some friends tonight.

I want to get back to normal. I want to workout. I'm sick and tired of being sick. Gah.

I have to start doing the taxes and studying for my CASP exam.

Tricia- Congrats on the weight loss! I have always heard that vegetable soup is slimming. Enjoy STS.

Jane- We don't run the heat much in winter either.

Alisha

Happy Monday!

Let's see where I left off. Friday I worked out. I can't remember but I worked out inside because it was cold. Saturday was a rest day and Sunday I ran 10 miles.

Tonight will be an outside workout as it is 70 degrees but that is short lived. It will be 40's tomorrow and Wednesday but then it gets warmer again. I hope it stays that way. It feels so nice today.

I worked from 7 to 12:30 and then took mom to have her MRI. We were there for 2 1/2 hours. We didn't have to wait that much but the test took 45 minutes at least and then she had to have a xray of her back. She said the test went fine and she didn't freak out.

Alisha ~ I hope you get some good news on your arm. I know missing workouts is so hard when you can't do it. Hope it gets better soon.

Tricia ~ Congrats on your weight loss. I hope the deep freeze ends soon. My sister is so miserable in Chicago. I actually drove with the windows up and no a/c this afternoon. I was sweating. It felt good!!

My arm is not broken. Didn't even go to the dr, it was ok. Went to see my chiro/PT and he did his pressure point thingy which hurts like a sun of a @@ and now I'm sore from that. But, in essence I'm cleared for take off. As soon as I feel like it I can exercise. And, I don't have to go back. Yippee.

I will probably have to stay home and work with the graphics department today to make sure everything is as I say it is in the final product.

Hopefully I will get to walk today. I want to get my fitness back and to lose my steroid weight and to be a real Cathlete again.

For the first time since our freak snow fall last year, we have a gray day. I hope we get rain to go with it.

Jane- I hope that everything works out for your Mom and her pain can just go away.

Tricia- Hows it going?

Alisha

I took a rest day yesterday. Today will be a run if the weather clears and we can stand the cold. It's only getting into the mid to high 30's and then a hard freeze tonight and then the warm up begins. We'll be back in the 70's by the weekend. They closed all the schools down here which seems kind of silly since we only got rain but better safe than sorry.

Alisha ~ I'm so glad your arm is not broken. Hope it feels better soon and you can get to work. I wish we could send you some rain.

Hi Tricia!

I didn't run yesterday. It was too cold. We ended up getting some ice/sleet but it wasn't bad. They closed the interstate last night and that was all. It's going to be near 50 today and then warming in the 70's over the weekend.

Last night I did AOS Firepower. Tonight will be a run. I'm taking Friday off as I am doing a 15K on Saturday morning.
