Weird deodorant/anti-perspirant question

Does anyone find that their deodorant/anti-perspirant REALLY works? If I'm just hanging out at home
or at work mine does the job well enough but if it gets hot or I am working out, forget it!!!! I will sweat
even in the areas that I've applied product to. I don't wind up with any offensive odor, but am not dry
like so many deodorant/anti-perspirants claim.

Second, I hate the product I am currently using which is Lady Mitchum hydro solid. It is crumbling apart,
has a weird feel upon application, and isn't cutting it in the wetness reducing area. What product are
you using and how satisfied are you with it?

Is it just unrealistic to expect a deodorant/anti-perspirant to work in high heat and while working out?

Thanks,

Sabine

hi Sabine,

i have to agree none really work well at the anti perspirant part but i am currently using Dove and its working fine.. it won't hold up if i do imax or a really tough workout .. but it does fine and i like the way it feels soft going on and the smell is great!

I've been using Mennen Speed Stick Super Dry Anti-Perspirant (unscented) for about 25 years now! (Yikes!) I find it keeps me driest. I've tried others and keep coming back. It is definitely not in the "new age" of anti-perspirants, as it does leave a white residue on clothing if you're not careful pulling those black t-shirts on! (I use a wet washcloth and those white marks magically disappear!)

Hey, another Dove lover here....smells so great! And I run around all day long at work....and stay pretty dry in that area.....I am using Secret Platnium(or however you spell it)when I wear sleeveless, or black, cause it goes on clear(really!) Donna.

Well, sweating does have a pupose...to release excess body heat. I'd be a bit worried if a product left you completly dry in all circumstances. How could it do that without plugging up your pores or doing something else whacky!

Is it just me or is this perhaps a cultural thing, but I never expected any anti-perspirant/deodorant to keep me either sweet-ssmelling or dry while working out. How can you do Imax 2 or a PLB + PUB combo and expect to smell fresh and be dry?!?!?!

If your product keeps you from being an anti-social menace during normal daily activities, then it is working! More than that I am not sure we can ask for! The makers of these products have never heard of Cathe.......

I have in the past used Almay hypoallergenic clear roll on and loved it, real Cheapo suave natural collection product smelling of freesias, solid, and that worked just great too, and now I am trying out the Lady Mitchum you mentioned and I also like this, they are all much the same it seems to me and I'm just a regular sweaty person when doing Cathe, just like most of you I think.

Good luck with your search! (Short answer, I think it might be unrealistic..... ;-) oh well)

I use an antiperspirant that really works - I sweat during workouts but not much from my underarms and I don't sweat at all in my regular clothes. I used to wear a lot of black because I was so embarrassed by my armpit sweat, but this product does the job.

It's called Certain Dri - it has 12% aluminum chloride, which is almost prescription strength. It's a watery roll-on and you apply it at night. It is very strong - the first couple nights I used it, I had REALLY bad underarm itching/burning. But now I only put it on twice a week and it keeps me dry.

Many drugstores carry it and it's standard price - I pay $5.49 here in NYC. If you can't find it, drugstore.com has it.

Has anyone heard that the aluminum mixtures in anti-perspirants cause memory loss and breast cancer? These are probably myths, but it has always been a concern since I first heard it about 8 years ago.

I have been trying to alternate a plain deoderant (Tom's of Maine and Basin rock crystal deoderant) with anti-perspirant, so as to lessen any of these effects. The Tom's honeysuckle/rose with aloe, lichen & coriander deoderant smells so good! But certainly I am more wet when I don't use anti-perspirant.

I've been using Secret Platinum Protection and LOVE it. I've tried everything and this one is the best for me. I doubt I'll ever switch again. Susan
