Weight Watchers Out There

I have a question/concern:

I have been very strictly doing WW for the past couple of weeks. When I stay in my points, even with activity points, sometimes the calories only come up to 1100-1200.
Why is this? Shouldn't I be eating more calories, like 1400-1500? I do cardio 4 times per week and full body weights 2 times per week.

I am 5'1" and weight 123. I know I am in range but I am at the high end of that range. I would like to at least be in the middle. Too, I really feel like my expectations are good. I do have some flab to lose. That scale will just not move an inch!!

Please help!!!

It has taken me sooooo long to find a diet and exercise routine that works for me. I tried WW a while back and my caloric intake was pretty low as well (even with activity points). IMO everyone has different calorie needs depending on their body. How do you feel on 1200? Are you low on energy? Even if the scale is not budging are your clothes getting looser?

I find that I can't lose weight on low cal diets. For some reason my body does not respond to them. It just sort of freezes - no weight loss, no muscle gain, no improvement in fitness leves, just nothing! The same thing happens if I try to achieve too much through my workouts. I get better results by eating well, exercising moderately (with lots of rest) and putting more effort into lifting weights.

It takes a while to figure to out what works for your body. WW is a great programme for some people but if you find its not giving you results maybe you could try something else? I also find that if I eat more often and eat foods in certain combinations, I feel more satisfied and have more energy on the same number of calories. It takes a lot of tweaking. Hope this helps. I am sure you will find what works for you.

I used Weight Watchers and lost 10 pounds. I too am 5'1" and weigh 120. I was at 130. I went on WW (not officially like the meetings) but a bunch of girls at work all went on and I thought it was fun. Unfortunately, the ones who weigh less than 150 are stuck with only 18 points at low end. I think the reason I lost weight was because I was eating a lot less than normal and working out too. The weight doesn't come off real fast with WW so don't get discouraged. I initially lost 4 lbs then I went for weeks without losing a thing. Then another 4 pounds at once. Also, when you only have about 5 lbs to lose, it's a lot harder!

I'm on the last week of my vacation, but when I get back next week, I'm going to start it again. I want to lose another 8 pounds. Keep it up and good luck!! :-jumpy

I lost 33 lbs on WW (went from 166 to 133 lbs), by adjusting the program. Because of my high activity level, my assigned points range was too low -- sounds like your situation exactly. I gradually increased my points until I felt energetic and able to do my workouts, and also lose weight. For me, the level that worked for me was 30-35 points per day.

Don't forget that the basic WW program is designed for inactive people. Their caloric needs are substantially less than active people's, with all their muscle. I believe strongly in customizing a program to meet my own needs. This worked for me. If you're comfortable with that, why not give it a try? At least get your calories up to at least 1400 per day (that's about 27-30 points).
