If I am not sore the day after each strength training session, does that mean I am not working hard enough?

Linda

Hi Linda! No it does not have to mean that. If you have given 100% to your workout and chosen a weight that challenged each and every muscle right down to the last rep, then don't worry if you are not sore then next day, you obviously worked your muscles.

RE: Cathe-weight training ?

I think the general consensus is to increase your weight only when your present weight becomes too easy WHILE you are performing the exercise. How sore you are I don't think is indicative of whether or not you should increase poundage. However, when that weight does become too easy and you do increase, I think it is more likely for you to be sore after those first few workouts with the new poundage. Does that make sense?? If it feels hard while you are exercising and the last few reps are a push, I do not feel upping the weights is necessary at that point regardeless of your soreness level.
