weight training question

There is a lot of talk on this board about reducing cardio or increasing weights and seeing results. I wanted to know if anyone has done the opposite. Who does only 2 days of weights and 3-5 days of cardio? What are your results doing this?

As fas as it comes to my body, here is my story. When I was a marathoner and lifted just the bare minimum I was at my heaviest, that includes higher body fat. When I stopped marathoning and running all together and started to focus on weights/pilates, weight went down together with body fat.
I think big part of it was the lack of controlling appetite and carb intake -- I was always hungry -- plus using some muscles for fuel as well during those long runs.
Nowadays I started again with more cardio, and guess what, weight is climbing up together with fat and appetite.
For me, less cardio, controlled carb amount and more weights/pilates is the trick.

I agree with the pp. When I finallly gave into 2 days of cardio only 3 days of total body weights and 1 circuit day I noticed gains of muscle and definition I had never had before, plus a decrease in body fat. BUT I also cleaned up my diet big time. I think the biggest change though was that I wasn't ravenously hungry while lifting. Give it a try.

thanks for replying. i was just curious if anyone did the opposite. i too find myself hungrier when i do more than 3 days of cardio. this past week i did 5 for whatever reason and i totally just want to eat junk food and i feel overly tired and hungry.

IMHO it is a lot easier to eat clean and watch the calories when you don't do so much cardio.

For 3 months straight I focused on weights and muscle endurance..I lost 10 lbs and stronger... so I saw the rotation this month had more cardio than weights so for the last 2 weeks I have done straight cardio-just a change up...i miss my weights terribly but I wanted to give myself 3 weeks of cardio and see if any changes occur..I have lost an additional 3 lbs. So, after my rotation (1month) I will go back to weights and cardio.. I am loving that I can now do 3 miles instead of one tho. I still get doms but not like when I did weights. I don't do step so I do all the kickboxing, elliptical and running..even run..sprint...run...sprint for a mile and a half. Of course I am hungry alot but it is ttom so I attribute that to ttom. Not bad I am hoping to lose alittle more then BAM...build it up in solid form...

What's funny is that I'm the complete opposite of the rest. I cut out weights and am doing a rotation of running and yoga/pilates only, and I'm already seeing results - especially in my appetite. If I lift, I'm STARVED all the time. Since I've stopped lifting, I am much more in control of my appetite. I'm not hungry all the time. It's been pretty eye opening. I do think weight training is necessary, however, and when I feel I need to really tone, I'll add them back in carefully.
