Weight loss question..need opinions

veganchick

Cathlete
I am 5'9 and about 195 with a medium build. I have been eating a vegan diet for awhile and doing workouts 5-6x's per week. My question is, to lose about 50lbs, what tapes would work best for me? I also want to be lean and cut. For example, now, I do Circuit max, Interval max, MIS, Cardio kicks, a Firm, and Intense moves in my rotation. I vary the Firms weekly. For instance I do Core Cardio1, or a classic or a new Firm sculpt tape. Does this rotation seem to be ok? I am following WW points as well with a bit of Picture Perfect Weight Loss thrown in. I am not going to go hungry or deprive myself. I just want to know if this seems like a good program that I am doing to lose bodyfat (50lbs of it) in about 10 months to a year. Thanks for helping me out, Tracy

Please make sure you keep a food journal. Keeping a written record of what you eat and of your exercise schedule DOES work for long term weight loss.

Three cheers for Dr Shapiro's book! I love it and trumpet it every chance I get.

Hi Tracy,
Sounds like your plan is a good one. Most of us that have/are struggling with weight loss have found that longer cardio sessions of 45-60 min 4-6 times per week are what is needed to shift those stubborn pounds! Add 2 full body strength/weight workouts to this, eat a clean diet and you should see some great results! I'm not familiar with the Firm workouts, but I would advise varying between steady rate cardio, interval cardio and circuit style workouts to keep your body challenged, prevent plateaus and prevent overuse injuries. A typical week could look something like this:

Mon: 45-60 mins steady rate cardio (Cathe Step/Cardio, running, Firm all-cardio)

Tues: Full body strength/weight workout

Weds: 45-60 mins interval workout (Interval Max or similar)

Thurs: Full body strength/weight workout

Fri: 45-60 mins steady rate cardio

Sat: 45-60 mins circuit style workout using light(er) weights for the toning portions (Circuit Max or similar)

Sun: Rest

I hope this helps - good luck with whatever you decide!

Kaz.

Thank you both for answering me. I do love Dr.Shapiro's book and the rotation you gave me seems great. I will try that.
