Weight Loss Check-IN

Hi ladies,

Are we still checking in with each other? Just curious. I have finally lost 2 1/2 lbs. Thanks to the support from our group. It really helps me when I have to check in with other people. It makes me watch my diet more carefully. I'm actually very excited over 2 1/2 lbs. I'm much more motivated now. Unfortunately, I was too motivated doing the PS series upper body this week and have strained my right arm somehow. I'm not sure what muscle is hurting, but I definitely cannot lift with my right arm for a few days. I don't know much about injuries since this is probably my first (due to exercise), but I know that it is not "just sore".

I also turned my ankle while playing outside with my son over the weekend, so my left leg is also out of commission as far as exercise goes. Oh well, when it rains it pours as they say.

I'm gonna give everything about 3 or 4 days to rest and just do abs everyday this week. Also I plan to catch up on some much needed housework this week while I'm resting from the PS series.

Injury or not, I LOVE THE PS SERIES!!!!! I've just gotta learn what size weights are right for me.

My new stairmaster will be here on Thursday. YIPPEE!!!!

I still have 15 lbs to go and I doubt that I can reach my goal by end of May as I had hoped for (for my vacation at the beach)
No 2 piece suit for me this summer, but maybe next year.

Hope you ladies are having a good week. I'm gonna enjoy my rest days and not get stressed out over it.

Lisa

Hey Lisa,

I was wondering where everyone was. I kept meaning to start the thread but just didn't. Glad you are doing well with the weight loss. I would be excited over 2 1/2 pounds too. Heck I get excited over 1/2 pound.

My goal was to have 15 pounds off by April 1st but I don't think I am going to make it either. We are going to the beach in May also and wanted to wear a 2-piece. :) I have lost a total of about 7 pounds so far and I am happy with that. That puts the GRAND total at 42 pounds. I say that and then I think HOW IN THE WORLD did I let that many pounds pile up on me!!!!! It happens!!!

I hope your injuries heal fast. I know that is frustrating. I love the PS series too and I know you will enjoy your stairmaster. I love getting new exercise equipment!!! I hope to have a treadmill some day.

Keep up the great work!

Kelly

Hi Lisa!

I don't check-in weekly with you guys for the weight loss, but wanted to say CONGRATS on the 2 1/2 lb. weight-loss!!:-jumpy! That is great! I also think if you stay centered like you have so far that you could possibly lose that 15 pounds by the end of May. Even if you lost 8-10 more, that would be a real accomplishment. Hopefully, you will be right back in the swing with your arm and ankle real soon. I bet adding the stairmaster to your rotation will give you a boost too. I know when I do mine, the sweat just pours off of me. Good Luck and enjoy those PS tapes. THEY ARE WONDERFUL! Your-Friend-In-Fitness, DebbieH :)

RE: Hi Lisa!

Hi DebbieH,

After hearing about your spinning bike, I was tempted to go for a bike instead of stairmaster, but I've been wanting a stairmaster for a long time so I stayed with my original plan. But I'd like to add a bike later this year or next year. I haven't been to a healthclub in about 9 years, so I'm completely in the dark about spinning. Sounds like a grueling workout. Years ago after my son was born, I was using a stairmaster and it helped me lose all my baby weight plus some. I'm hoping to lose that same 15 lbs again this time. Have a great day.

Lisa

Hi Kelly,

You would definitely love having a treadmill. I have a Sears treadmill and it has been wonderful. It's around 7 or 8 years old and we've never had a problem with it. It's so nice when it's raining or cold out, and you can still get in your run or walk. Sounds like you and I are in the same boat with trying to lose weight for vacation. You are doing excellent to have lost 42 lbs. That takes ALOT of hard work. Well, here's wishing that you and I both meet our goals (even if it takes a few more weeks than expected).

RE: Hi Lisa!

Hi! I'm so happy to see this thread!! Yes, I certainly hope we are still checking in, I love keep up with you all :) I was here the other day and did not see the thread so I came here today to post it but it was here already!

Lisa, good news on the 2 1/2 lbs. I'm sorry to hear you are injured but am really happy you have made the decision to rest. I know we have all learned that working through pain only makes it worse! I hope you feel better after your rest.

enjoy your stairmaster!! You are going to love it! I have a gym quality treadmill and excercise bike and with those, my weights, cathe tapes and firm tapes I am soooo happy with my home gym. I would never work out 5 days a week if I could not do it at home.

Kelly- 42 lbs you are doing great!!!

Well I was doing weight watchers for about 5 weeks but made it to only 2 meetings because my daughter was really sick. Then my husband was sick and I had to take him to the doctor. Anyway, I decided to just go it on my own. I bought a new scale that matches to weight watchers one exactly. Back in January I thought I broke 200 and it turned out my scale was 15 lbs lighter than the weight watchers one. Well, here is the good news, I broke 200 for REAL this time, 199 now for REAL :) I know that may sound high, but I'm on my way to 142 - my weight on my wedding day. Actually, once I get to 150, my DH and I are going to try to have another baby :) so maybe I'll make it to 142 or maybe not depending on how long it takes me to get pregnant. :)

My birthday is in June, and I'm hoping to be in the 170s by then.

Have a GREAT week everyone.

Marci

Hey Marci

You are doing so well. That's a bummer about your scale being 15 pounds lighter. That would be VERY discouraging. I think your goal of being in the 170s by June is very realistic. I have just recently broken 170 and am at 163 right now. I don't remember if you told me how tall you are. I am 5'9" and I weighed 155 when I got married. I am hoping to get to that weight but I might be satisfied with 160. I wasn't working out then so that may make a little difference even though I am not muscle woman!!! :)

Keep up the good work!!!!

Kelly

RE: Hey Marci

HI Kelly,

Thanks, I am 5'7 and even though 142 is my ultimate goal, I will be satisfied with 150! So sounds like with your extra 2 inches and 10 lb threshold we are aiming for about the same realistic body figure. Glad to hear you are doing so well. I ended up dumping my old scale and purchasing a new one that I stepped right before I walked out the door to a weight watchers weigh in before I quit the program and it is accurate. I will never buy a digital scale again!

RE: Hey Marci

Hi amynicole,

I was wondering what scale you bought and where I can purchase one.

I have a digital scale and it flucuates +/-2 or 3lbs. That can be discouraging when you are trying to lose.

Thanks
Nikki

RE: Hey Marci

Hi Nikki!

I have a health-o-meter proffesional dial scale- its pretty heavy but its also accurate. I ended up going to weight watchers again this morning because I like the group support and decided if I can't go to my regular meeting I'll just pick another meeting and before I left I got on my scale and 15 minutes later their scale and once again- exact to the pound accurate.

I bought mine at Macy's they had a great sale but I've seen them in the service merchandise catalog and I know they sell them at lots of stores. It retails for about $60 or $70, but I paid $33 since it was 25% off and I had a 20% off coupon.

I will never buy another digital scale again.

How is your weight loss quest going?

RE: Hey Marci

Well I didn't checkin for the month of februrary or March, because I was trying to do to many things at once. I took some advice from cathe (she posted a response to someone about gradually bringing exercise into a program so you won't get burned out and quit.)
March I focused on eating and portions. I did well, I need to work on the weekend eating and sweets. I am going to start incorparating exercise 3x week for 40min or 5x week for 20min.

I have lost 3lbs in march so far. I am trying to make this a lifestyle and by bringing things in gradually I don't feel so overwhelmed.

Thanks for the info on the scale I think I will get one.
Nikki

RE: Hey Marci

Hi Nikki,

I'm glad you have found a plan that is working with you. Good luck on finding the scale. I think you will like it. I can identify with burn-out. I was excercising 6 days a week and always sore and was not losing. I recently cut to 5 days and my loss actually picked up! My hip is bothering me so I'm going to do 4 days a week until it feels better then do 4 or 5 days depending on how I feel.

I had noticed you were not checking in and was happy to hear from you.
