Weight Loss Check - In 8/5/02

Hey Everyone. Nobody started this thread this week, so I will do it, even though, once again, I do not have a loss to post. I did not gain though, so that's good.

Not being able to lift has definitely stalled any weight loss for me. It is a good reminder of how important weight lifting is for overall fitness and weight loss! It is starting to really bother me not to be able to lift. I went bike riding yesterday, and even that pressure on my elbow caused my tendonitis to flare up.

How did everyone else do?

Hi LInda,

I know how frustrating it is when you body can't keep up. I have battled plantar faciitis on and off for years. Right now I am not having problems but am always really aware of potential flare ups.

I am down 1 lb this week. I would have liked to do better but hey, a loss is a loss! So now instead of 110 lbs to lose, it is 109. I guess patience and persistance is the key here.

Donna, I would love to know what your excercise routine was when you first started losing. Also, what calorie level were you/are you eating?? It is hard to find others with large amounts to lose and as I said last week, I am so inspired by your success!

Amy Nicole,

Congrats on the 1-lb. weight loss. You're right. A loss is a loss.

Donna always has great advice. I think she said at first she was doing some Denise Austin videos and gradually progressed into more challenging ones. I'm sure she will reply if she sees your message!

I was too chicken to weigh in this week, my motivation has been horrendous lately. Congrats on the 1 lb weight loss. I heard a saying somewhere....."You've gotta lose the first pound to lose the second". Keep on pluggin' away!

Hi all :)

I'm down 0.5lbs this week, not much of a loss, but my clean eating went horribly, horribly wrong at the END of last week, days before weigh-in! And for once, it wasn't the ice cream (thanks to Healthy Choice :)), I was on some "carbs/fat from hell binge!" So really, that 1/2# is a "happy little loss!"

Linda: congrats on maintaining! It's better to hold strong than to gain!

Amy Nicole: congrats on your 1# loss, every # down is a # less to lose! I am still eating about 1900-2000 cal/day, I've been eating these numbers since the beginning of the year. At about 225lbs, it allowed me to lose roughly 2lbs/week, but then as I closed in on 200lbs, I dropped maybe 1-1.5lbs/week, and now I'm at a 0.5-1lb/week loss, so in the next few weeks, I'll be re-doing my calorie count thing and going down to 1800-1900 cal/day so I can start to see a more significant loss, if not in pounds, at least in inches! And I'm hoping that as I shed body fat and gain more muscle, I'll be able to maintain 1800 cal/day, because I'm hungry all the freaking time and the thought of eating less is beyond my comprehension at this point! :)
"Shoot, I wanna look good, but life is just too short to go totally french fry-less!" :)

Stacy: I totally feel you on not wanting to jump on the scale this week. I almost didn't after my binge, but it was okay, besides, I'd already siked myself up and told myself, "if i didn't lose anything, at least I know I didn't gain, I binged, but I didn't lose my mind! Remember, it takes 3500 EXTRA/UNBURNED calories to gain 1#, and as active as you are, I'm sure you're burning more calories, even at rest, than you think!

Well guys, I'm totally concentrating on 90% clean eating this week (gotta have my Healthy Choice!), and hopefully I'll have a bigger loss to report next week.
Good luck this week everyone :)

Donna

Linda: If you keep going you will finally see a loss. I know it is terribly frustrating to not lose especially when you try so hard.

Amynicole: Congrats on the one pound. I think once you get going in the lose-the-weight direction it will come off a bit faster. I think of it as you had momentum going in the gain-the-weight direction and you have to slow down and stop and then start going in the other direction. Did that make sense to you? Anyway, keep up the great work.

Stacy: I almost didn't weigh either but I had to know. Even though pounds lost is the easiest way to see results it is not the only results. Sometimes you just might feel a difference in your clothes but might not see a loss on the scale.

Donna: I have been a little stressed lately and my Healthy Choice has eased that a little...sounded good anyway. Congrats on your loss and hopefully you will see a bigger loss next week!!!!

Okay, on to me! I MIGHT have lost another pound. The scale wasn't sure if I had lost a whole pound or not so I will say it was a half of a pound. Soooooo, in two weeks I have 1.5 pounds. Yuck! The first of this week has not started out too well though. I am working on my bathroom (redoing everything) and I haven't had much time to think about exercise or eating right. Hopefully I will finish up tomorrow and all that will be left is the flooring!

Keep up the great work ladies!!!

Hi ladies, I would like to join this check-in, if that is alright with everybody :). My name is Heather and I just had my second baby, a boy, three and a half weeks ago. I also have an 18 month old boy. Since getting pregnant the first time I have gone from a healthy weight of 150 all the way up to 220 pounds! I never quite lost all of the weight from the first pregnancy before getting pregnant again, but thankfully the second time I only gained 30 pounds. So I have lost most of that weight, but have a lot more to go... I haven't gotten into working out more than walks around the neighborhood, but am excited to get more and more active. I miss my Cathe videos and spinning classes! I have been focusing on improving my diet and getting rid of bad pregnancy eating habits (ie ice cream every night :) This week I managed to lose two pounds, so I am down to 191. I love reading how each of you do every week, and hope I can add encouragement to you all. Thanks, Heather

Welcome Heather :)

Consider me your "cyber ice cream eating sister!" The stuff is just too good! I'm hoping that when cold weather hits my ice cream "thing" will be over, just thinking about the calories I could save each week is mind blowing! :)
Congrats on your "new addition" to the family, and walking is a great way to get back into the swing of things, but please
take it slowly with yourself, you've just had a baby, and although it's been YEARS since my last one, I've read many times on these boards that it takes 9 months up and 9 months back for your body, so don't rush yourself too quickly. Lastly, congrats on your 2# loss, and i'll look forward to "chatting" with you every week.

Donna

Hi Heather,

You and I have a lot in common- I just joined this check in last week. I gave birth to my 3rd child (also a boy) 4 1/2 weeks ago on July 3. I was 135 when I got married and 150 before I got pregnant the first time. Now I am 234- yikes! I just kept gaining huge amounts of weight each pregnancy but never lost it all in between. I also have a 3 year old and 5 year old.

This group gave me such a warm welcome last week so I want to give that back and welcome you :)

I think it is kind of cool we both have baby boys the same age.

Anyway, welcome!

Just wanted to welcome you Heather! Feel free to share as much as you'd like and to check in as often as you would like! We can all use some help when it comes to weight loss. It's really a hard battle which doesn't stop when you lose the weight. I've always said even though losing weight is hard, keeping it off is so much harder. So learn your good habits now so when you "arrive" at your goal you can stay there! Good luck and congrats on the 2 pounds!!!!!

Thank you ladies for such a warm welcome! I really appreciate your responses. Talk to you next week with hopefully good news...Heather
