Weight Loss Check-In 11/4 (sigh)

KayM

Cathlete
Hello fellow weight-lossers. Well my scale tells me today that I am either 217 or 218, something like that. After last week's fiasco I am just thrilled that it no longer reads 220. Whew

I have been trying to stick to my diet and having a really hard time. I had probably two good days and two over 2,000 calorie days over the last 4 days. This morning I've got some sort of stomach flu so I didn't exercise. I know it was better to not exercise (had visions of throwing up on the floor), but I feel like such a slacker when I don't! Especially since Sunday was my rest day, so I haven't worked out since Saturday.

So this morning, plodding into work, I felt like the same old fat person I've always been. I don't want to be that person anymore. I'm NOT that person anymore! So this week I'm going to eat 1,500 every darn day.

I found a way to justify ordering some more workouts (I'm selling some old videos on the video exchanges - hey if I'm selling old ones, I should be able to get new ones!) so on the swap boards I've found Step Jam (Yay!), a Christi Taylor video, and one of those CIA videos with Franny Benedetto (2 50 minute workouts, yay). My goal for a while has been to increase my workout time to 50mins or an hour, so I hope this will help with my overall weight loss.

Now that I've rambled on, how is everyone else doing?

And Donna, I'm curious how much time you spend working out every day? I know you eat around 2,000 calories per day. I'm thinking if I'm working out for 50 mins 6 days a week, even if I have a few bad days I still should be able to keep my weight going down? Do you have anything that would be helpful there?

Hope everyone is having a great week!!

-Kay

Kay,

This is really eerie...I've been looking for some new videos for non-Cathe days 'cause my old videos bore me now. Last couple of weeks I got CIA 9908 (I think that's the same one you're referring to) and a couple of Christi Taylor's in swap. This morning I did Step Jam for the first time! (I liked it except one section w/ country music).

I worked out 30 minutes to an hour every day using mostly CTX last week. I work full time with two young'uns so this rotation works really well for me. I'm going to try and get my nerve up and do BodyMax again this weekend. I was really excited yesterday when I took my kids to the Y to practice swimming. I felt so powerful moving through the water! I can tell that my upper body strength has really increased. Yeah!

Anyway, my weigh-in day is Saturday and I stayed the same. Combo of couple of Halloween candy bars and TOM, I'm sure. Like how I sneaked that in there?? On a more positive note, I did really well upping my water intake and getting in more veggies last week and with Donna's help am giving up table sugar. So far I've lost an average of a whopping 1 lb per week so I'm hoping this will help to speed things along a bit..

Hope you all have a great week! - Sharon

LAST EDITED ON Nov-04-02 AT 12:52PM (Est)[p]Sharon and Kay congratulations on your losses. :) :)

I, however, have none to report, but considering how badly I did with my nemesis (ice cream) last week, I'm just happy to not report a gain! I REALLY had a bad week, but I'll leave it at that! :) But, 3 days I.C. free, you'd think the scale would have given me pitty pounds! But we'll see what happens now that I've just reduced my caloric intake by at least 240 cal/day (a good day).

Kay, I workout anywhere from 1-2hrs/day (6 days/week) and 30min stretch or pilates on Sunday (active rest), which is why I think I'm able to eat as many calories as I do and still lose. I usually do an hour of cardio most days, followed by one of Cathe's strength workkouts, so how long into the next hour depends on which strength series. PS is about 15min shorter than S&H, so I average 1hr 45min-2hrs most days. Sometimes I'll split them up and do 1hr in the morning (cardio), then do weights that evening, but I average almost 2hrs day 6days/week. Not having small children in the house gives me that time and luxury, so I take full advantage of it. :) I am so impressed with those of you who work and/or raise small children, AND find time to workout!
I found a really "different" non-Cathe workout from CIA. It's Cardio Strike Zone + Boot Camp with Terri Reeves. It's an odd form of kickboxing followed by some boot camp drills followed by some pilates style ab work. It's really "different" but she has such a friendly personality the workout is fun. It runs for 85min, I usually don't do the whole thing, I'm working my way through the boot camp drills, they're tough. Also, if you don't mind a little chattiness, I love Charlene Prickett for my non-Cathe days, I can always use the impact break! :)
And if you're eating like 1500 cal/day and working out for 50min 6 days/week, I think you'll lose just fine.

Hi All,

Well done Kay ! Your weight loss is fantastic !! :-jumpy And I too, am very interested in Donna's answer to your questions in your last paragraph. Keep up the good work !

I posted my weight thingy over on Donna's 6 month challenge, so here I am to correct it (and apologising if I am repeating myself). I am not weighing myself again this week, because I am only 5 days away from TTOTM. I don't think I have lost any weight anyway (too many take-aways), but I feel firmer (thanks to Cathe), so my exercise as per usual has gone well, though I missed out on my usual daily walks as it was half term week in the UK. DH was on holiday and subsequently we had a lot of eating out (MacDonalds, chips (fries) and curry sauce, Mushroom curry and boiled rice, Vegetable Balti and boiled rice, oh dear the list goes on, is it any wonder I am not losing weight ?) But hopefully with the 6 month challenge, things might change - so far so good, I have not had a take-away since Thursday night !
I also start my Rosemary Conley plan tomorrow, my local rep is visiting me tonight (it is a low fat eating plan, and the idea is not to eat more than 4g fat per 100g of food, and this includes treats ! Treats don't bother me that much because I don't really crave sweets and chocolate). I shall no doubt let everyone know about the plan tomorrow, and when I weigh myself in 2 weeks time, I should have noticed some kind of a difference.

Keep up the good work everyone ! Have a great week !

Anna

Well done Sharon - 1lb a week is brilliant, and it adds up to 4 lbs a month ! Fantastic - lets hope I have some better weight loss news in 2 weeks time :)

Anna

Wow ! :-wow Donna, maybe that is also where I go wrong too. You see, before I ever did Cathe, I used to work out an average of 90 minutes per day (5-6 times a week), and since starting Cathe's workouts I have dropped to just 1 Cathe workout per day which is only 60 minutes. So maybe I need to incorporate other routines on the same day, that aren't Cathe ?

Yours Wonderingly

Anna :)

OMG, Donna! I can't believe you work out that much. Geesh, well there's no way I can do that. I will try to just be strict on my calorie intake (which is the best thing to do anything for someone like me, probably - if I eat 500 extra calories, it's ALWAYS junk!).

Anna - please do let us know all about your plan. I think you mentioned on the other thread they're going to call you today with your calorie goals and other stuff. I'm curious what it's all about (my ongoing obsession with how many calories people eat).

I'm in awe of Donna's workouts!

Sharon and Kay great news on your losses.

Kay, I know we all have our bad days. I so know what you mean about not wanting to be fat anymore. I mean I've lost 35 lbs and it has not made one bit of difference in how I feel- I still feel like the fat person I was when I started.

Donna, we will kick that icecream habit together :)
I can't believe how much you workout- WOW!

I did not approach the scale this week. I had a 2 day holloween binge- started on Thursday and ended late into Friday night. But sat. I ate 1,800 calories and yesterday back to my 1,500 target so I'm back on track. I just could not face the scale today though. Next week I'll face that scale but based on my eating I just could not bear to see any damage that I did. I KNOW that by getting back on track though I'll most likely show a loss next week.

Weird loss is so strange! I was 137 all week. I thought I was plateauing. I ate a lot of junk on friday (my cheat day) and was relieved that I didn't gain when I weighed myself on saturday morning. Well, sunday morning the scale was 135 and I was excited to have lost 2 pounds. Lo and behold I weighed myself this morning and it was 133 (shock!) so I guess that I lost 4 pounds this week which is a lot for me. I've never lost more than 2 pounds in a week before. I was pretty good all week except for friday but not good enough to have lost 4 pounds. I guess it's some weird metabolism thing.

Hi Everyone!

Congratulations on all of your losses. For those who didn't lose, hang in there and be persistent! And I would also love to hear about this Clooney diet. I have never heard of that before and I thought I had heard of them all!

I managed to escape the Halloween candy binge this year. I have been snacking on apples dipped in peanut butter (YUM). I think I lost two more pounds I had put on during the cruise, so that puts me one pound over where I was three weeks ago. I'm still plugging away at it.

Have a great week everyone!

Linda

Kay...............

It didn't start out that way trust me! Somewhere along the way I went from 1hr to 2. I think mostly because of the split routines. Plus, I have the time on my hands at this point, so it's do-able. The bulk of the time is the cardios anyway, half the time the weights portion is gravy! :)

Donna

RE: Kay...............

Well that's still a lot of working out! Of course, back when I first got started, I used to be horrified at people who work out an HOUR PER DAY. I couldn't even do 30 minutes. Now I feel like I've cheated myself if I only do 30 minutes. :)

Do you hear a sigh coming from me too? ;-)

I haven't had a TTOM since June but here I am with it again today....ain't menopause wonderful! I weighed myself before I started and was wondering what was happening when I saw a few #s gained. I did eat some Halloween chocolate but not that much!

Anyway congrats to the losers and for those in my category...a bit up....we'll just have to try for good results for next week. :)
