weight loss and diet

Hey Cathe!

I discovered you on Fit TV and I think your workouts are really great. I am interested in purchasing some intermediate DVD's, but am not sure where to start...I prefer running outside (30 minutes roughly) vs. step and have been working out for years...but never truly make permanent changes.

My question for you is one of diet and exercise. I am 5'2 1/2, 28 y/o and I weigh about 120...but I have alot of "junk in my trunk"...the butt and gut area and would definitely like to change my overall body fat % and tone up FOR GOOD. I have been a yo-yo dieter forever, getting on and off the band wagon of working out and eating fairly well at times...I have such a sweet tooth and an emotional eater(who isn't?)..what are some dietary recommendations that you follow or advise and what if anything do you advise people with "kicking the sweet tooth?" Also, do you recommend 75% workouts to be focused on weight lifting and 25% on cardio? I feel like there is a plethora of guidelines to follow and I would like a sound one that will allow for permanent change. (Do you recommend any books?)
