Weight Gloves ?

I'm wanting to get some weighted gloves for kickboxing workouts, but not sure what weight to order. Is 1 lbs enough, it doesn't seem like much, but is 1.5 or 2 lbs to heavy? Thanks for any advise.

When I first used a pair of weighted gloves, I went with a 1lb pair. I thought, there is no way a pound of weight is going to do anything. I was wrong. Despite the feeling that the weight will not be enough, the toning benefits of just the 1lb gloves are great, in my opinion.

I tend to throw my punches pretty hard (not overextending though) and I believe anything heavier then what I currently use could possibly lead to injury. I guess it depends on the individual.

Hope this helps!

I have to agree with Rose...I just purchased one pound gloves to do with my kickboxing tapes. When I picked them up, they felt really light, but when you start to throw those punches time and time and time again.....well, that one pound starts to feel like five. I find myself sometimes taking them off because they are sooo tiring, and I don't want to injure my shoulder. Laura

Do a search for 'weighted gloves' in this forum (Open DIscussion, an advanced search using "weighted gloves" in "title or message" as search criteria). There have been a couple of detailed discussions about them.

I recommend no more than 1# to begin with. And don't use them until you have form down.

I hate using heavy gloves when I spar with someone in boxing. It's challenging to get your hands to move fast. I'm much speedier and more dangerous with my 8 oz fight gloves :)

You definitely don't want more than 16 oz!!
