weight gain during the hoildays

Stop the madness now! That is my advice. I, too, was spinning out of control. Not so much eating everything, just everything I ate was crap. By nights end Christmas Eve, I felt sick from all the junk. Christmas day I vowed to eat clean and did, with the exception of the brownie in my stocking (my fault, I put it there;-) ). The day after...clean and today...clean. I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER!

I say stop eating like crap now instead of waiting until the holidays are officially over. Besides, I want a little "head start" on the New Year!:D

my advice is to not even start eating the crap food! but since you already have... i agree with the other poster.. STOP NOW! don't wait til jan 1st.... that's 5 days more damage you can do!

Thats good advice.Lucky for me, I always lose weight christmas time.So far I have lost 5-7 lbs in the last month.Prehaps you gained what I lost! Not funny is it!
Let your next day of eating be on New Years Day.And if you are going to go out jsut stick to a glass of wine.
I know its hard but just stay focused and there is always the new year:)

You lot must be from the 'STOP EATING CRAP" cult!

I can imagine you all in a room, in a circle, with crosses aimed at the "buffay" table

I havent asked the question, but I suddenly feel the need to "eat clean"

Works for me!

Ah yes, the Stop Eating Crap cult! I was wondering where they went.

I need to hear much, much more from you guys! I think I'll stop eating crap now- the chewing was so noisy I couldn't hear what you were saying!

1. Kick up your cardio - do 6X per week

2. Get the junk food out of your house

3. Don't eat the junk at work

Very simply, as much as the diet book industry tries to dress it up, it's calories in calories out. Therefore, you must keep a food journal, which you should do all the time anyway.

Funny, I found myself saying, ok, no more junk just a day ago. I haven't gained weight during the holidays in years. I have an agreement with myself to eat what I like but I don't eat junk on top of my regualr diet, I skip my regular diet and have pie for breakfast, birthday cake for lunch. It never takes long to tire of the goodies and want to eat clean. That's for next year. Now, just create a plan to lean out your diet and add cardio and get those pounds gone. And no beating yourself up!

Hi!

My suggestion is to increase the cardio, increase your water intake and decrease the junk. It will come back off, but you have to stop eating the crap now!!!!

Have a great day!!!

I think a food journal is an excellent idea. Make sure you write down EVERYTHING you eat, even if it is one Cheerio! Also, keep track of the calories that go along with it. This helped me get back into shape after childbirth. You won't eat just a handful if you have to take the time to figure out how many calories, fat, carbs, fiber and protein are in the handful. Besides, who wants to write down "all crap" in their journal?

I also was able to lose 2 pounds last week instead of gain, but I started a new diet plan which seems to be working. I have tried WW several several times over the last couple of years because it worked so well for my sister and my mother. I actually gained weight on WW. Will I came across the Wendy Plan for WW and I lost 2 pounds my first week on it. I started my second week yesterday and we'll see how it goes. I also suggest cutting out the junk food or eating very little. I admit that I eat at least 1 piece of chocolate on an almost daily basis, but I never eat a whole candy bar, etc.

I some how managed not to gain any holiday weight despite my eating habits over the weekend. Yeay me! lol :)

I am going to a New Years eve bash in atlantic city on friday night tho and then out for another nice, filling meal on saturday night...I wonder if I can stay so lucky?

7 pounds? Ouch! I think I may have gained a couple myself. I would say...just keep working out and go back to your normal eating habits. The weight will come off again.

Are you sure it's really a gain or just water weight? I ate like a pig last weekend and was up 8.5 pounds in 3 days. Back to low carb on Monday and I'm already down 4.5. Just gotta get back to the plan that works for you as fast as possible. Don't beat yourself up-you can lose it. you know what to do!

I gained 4 lbs. despite my best efforts over the holidays. Went back on SB part 1 & have lost 3 already. I tried to not gain, but knew it was a possibility & didn't freak out over it because that would just keep me eating.
I'm happy with that...last year I kept eating through January & into February & added 15 lbs. And it took me the whole winter to get them off. So this year was fine as far as I'm concerned.
As others have said: stop eating the junk, up your cardio, drink lots of water, & try to eat as clean as possible. It'll come off.

Ruth:)
