weight gain by 15 weeks

Hi everyone,

I was hoping you would share how much weight you gained by 15 weeks. I have already gained 7 pounds and feel terrible and fat. It is not surprising to me since in the first trimester I only wanted to eat cheeseburgers, pizza, macaroni and cheese,... Plus I was so tired and dizzy I hardly exercised and had to lie down a lot. So here I am now back to an advanced Cathe exercise routine and trying to eat better but I feel horrible. Am I alone? Oh, and even now, I feel a need to really eat a big meal,like a salad and glass of milk won't cut it. After each of my other 2 pregnancies I'd been left with 10 pounds of fat to lose and was really hoping to avoid that this time around, but it looks like I've already blown it.

I gained 7lbs in my frist trimester, but it leveled off after that.
I'm now 34 weeks, and have put on a total of 18lbs in this pregnancy.
My doctor estimated that I'd wind up around 25lbs or so total weight gain once I have my little guy. It's worth noting that I haven't been eating any kind of healthy, either (as I sit here eating 2 bacon, egg and cheese biscuits from McDonald's for breakfast!). But I've been working out consistently 4 days/week, even on days where I didn't feel like it, and I think that's made the biggest difference all along.

People gain at different rates and for different reasons during each pregnancy. A lot of people will tell you that there is a set amount you should be gaining, and that anything more than that is overboard - don't listen to them!
 
Jeanne, No sweat on the gain! You're doing just fine. You have 25 weeks to go. If you gained a pound a week you'd still only be at 32 pounds - smack in the middle of the "average" 25-35 gain. As you get further along you'll feel better and better, more like exercising, and more like eating your regular foods. Good luck!
 
I completely understand how you're feeling, but it sounds like your doing great with your weight gain. I was +7lbs by 12 weeks. I ended up at +9 at 19weeks. By the time I reached the 2nd trimester, I felt SO much better and could actually eat fruits/veggies without gagging.

I've had quite the spurt over the last few weeks--I'm now at +14lbs at almost 22weeks..not exactly where I want to be! However, I'm sick of obsessing over the scale. I know I COULD probably have gained less if I would cut out the couple hundred calories I eat in sweets each day (although my total daily calories are almost always 1500-1800), but I just don't know that I can do it! I decided to have DH hide the scale, and I would only weigh myself at my monthly check-ups. I've found that by doing this, I have a LITTLE more control over the food I'm eating (not fabulous by any means, but better :) ). My goal each day is to keep the processed, unhealthy foods out of my mouth...no, I haven't achieved that goal yet, but I'll keep trying! x(

Oh my--I have you all beat and then some. I tend to gain about 70 lbs each time (and I must add I do lose it all--except after baby #4)--long story. I don't stand on the scale whilst pregnant, but based on how much I have to lose afterward, the 70 lbs is a pretty good guess. It takes me about a year to get to my pre preggo size.

So next time ya'll feel discouraged, just think about Maggie the porker and I'm sure you'll feel much better.

Maggie, I'm right there with you! I gained +55 with both of my boys (and I'm just shy of 5'2''). I'm at 20 weeks today, and, as of Friday, I had gained 17 pounds thus far. Yikes. But I'm giving myself a year to lose it afterward. I managed to get into really great shape last summer, so I know it's possible to attain that goal. I know it's my last pregnancy, so I'm trying not to obsess over my weight and really enjoy being round and curvy. I have the rest of my life to try to obsess over weight. Now I'm obsessing over baby. :)

PS I'm still a little jealous of all you gals who have only gained the minimum or normal amount of preg weight. Way to go!!! :)
 
It sounds like you are doing just fine! I am on baby #4 and have gained it diffrent each time.

#1 I gained 10lbs right away.. then leveled off and hardly gained any in the 2nd then about 1lb a week in the 3rd tri. Total was 27lbs..

#2 gained right away.. and all the way through.. lol ended up 40lbs at the end.

#3 gained less in the first.. then picked up in the 2nd and 3rd.. also ended up 40lbs total

Now this is #4 and I gained 1lb till 13 weeks.. then between 14-18 weeks I gained 5lbs.. so I am up 6 total at 18 weeks. It's hard to tell how the rest will go. LOL

In the end just eat teh best you can, workout, and when you have the baby you will lose the weight.
