Weider Ruthless

So I noticed this one has come up a few times - certainly in the last Body Beast posting so I have to ask - recommended to add on? If they're all 20 minutes, seems like a nice way to add some cardio to a weight day.

Yes! I add on a Weider Ruthless workout 3x a week. I LOVE them. They are the best surprise workout find I have come across in a long time. I am buying it as stocking stuffers for my daughters (who are love fitness like their mom) this Christmas. They are very challenging.

I am another Ruthless lover! I was doing them routinely in the morning but stopped during the summer. I have started back up as I really enjoyed them. If you want a short quick workout they are great. I also do what Jen does and sometimes add them on to another workout.

I bought mine at walmart last year and yes they are cheaper then ordering from the ruthless website.

I got mine on Amazon for $19.95 (Amazon marketplace seller) and the ones for my daughters on Ebay for $20 each.

I ADORE them. They are both. I am working my way through them. So far I have done the first 15 of the 20 workouts. Almost every one of them has a cardio component. Of the 15 I've done, 9 are intense cardio, and 4 have intense cardio components and only 2 seem more strength or core focused. Of the 15, I would say almost all of the workouts contain some body weight strength component and core component. None of it is easy. Almost every workout has been challenging in some fashion. And they are varied--you are not doing the same thing over and over again. Definitely keeps you guessing. I guess you could call it metabolic strength training. But in the 15 I've done, you have a mix of boxing, body weight strength work, core work, plyometrics, low impact (but still intense) cardio, lots of lower body work. Even some serious stretching.

Thanks for the great review. I read the reviews on amazon and they were all positive. I was concerned about it being repetitive like some say about T25 and Insanity. But from what you described, not like that at all. Sounds like I can still lift weights while doing these too. I think I'll have to give these a try.

I got T25 just before I picked up Ruthless. I like Shaun T, but T25 is boring IMHO. I love Ruthless, although I don't use them as much as when I first got them. They would be an awesome short cardio finisher after strength work. My only beef with them (and why I don't use them more) is the warm up isn't long enough, but for 20 minutes, what do you expect? And yes, I know I could do a Cathe warm up before Ruthless, but I'm too lazy to switch out DVDs. :) In any event, I think they'd be a perfect add on after strength training, because you're already loose.

Walmart.com now have weider ruthless for 19.76 $ ,even more cheaper.
I just ordered mine [emoji4]

What about the impact level in these workouts? If it is higher, can it be modified lower easily? Thanks.

Compared to other high intensity fitness programs, I find it lower impact overall--but there are high impact moves in there. I think they can probably be easily modified. I don't modify things myself so it isn't something I consciously think about when doing a workout, but if you can modify Cathe's workouts to make them lower impact, then I think you would have no problem modifying the high impact moves in Weider Ruthless. Steve does a lot less jumping than Cathe does.
