Weekend Plans

I'm bored and looking for some company. Anyone have any good plans (or not so good ones) for this weekend?

I'm flying from California to Maryland to try to regain some of the warm weather that part of the country stole from us (LOL). Actually I'm going out to visit my dad and sister for 4 days, so it should be fun.

We're 40 degrees here. That's unheard of in the Bay Area at 4:00PM. We expecting snow showers and for the first time since I've lived here (7 yrs) I'm wondering if my flight will be cancelled due to snow!!!

I'm getting a massage tomorrow! First time ever! And I'm going to enjoy the tropical (ok, 60) weather. It was up to 73 today in NYC.

Ooooh, have a great time with your massage! I love getting massages!

So are you enjoying our weather? *grins*

It was great and I'm not giving it back! }(

Actually, I'm trying to think of something to do tonight that doesn't involve greasy food at a restaurant--just so I can get out a bit in the 66 degree temp at 7:30 p.m. :+

Seriously, I need to move to the tropics somewhere. I decided this year that even though snow is beautiful and peaceful, and autumn leaves and temperatures are gorgeous--I HATE having to deal with all the cold wind and slushy black puddles of melted snow and all that garbage in the winter. So you're not getting your weather back!

Yeah, there's a reason I don't live on the East Coast anymore - and you pretty much named it. I love the falls, but we kind of get them out here. But the snow and bone chilling cold I can live without. Of course we have it now... :)

Just be advised that the last place that traded places with us - Seattle - took our sunshine and gave us their rain. So we sent them an earthquake (a good 7 pointer, too!). And they gave us back our sunshine and there have been no earthquakes up there since.

I'm goin' to listen to a great band, do lots of dancin' and have a few cocktails tonight!:) }( :+

Tomorrow I want to go to a craft store and pick up some silk flowers to make a couple of arrangements for my house as well as buy some stuff to decorate the space between my cabinets and the ceiling in my kitchen. It's only a small space so I'm going to be looking at vines of greenery, flowers or berries.

Sunday DH has to help my mom's BF go pick up new furniture for my mom's living room and then we are going back to her place for dinner.

That's my weekend in a nutshell!:)

*points to above post* And yes, that actually happened. There was a joke going around in the form of a Memo:

Citizens of Seattle: Please be advised that the 7.0 earthquake you recently experienced was only a warning. Please take back your rain and give us out sunshine and we will take back our earthquakes...

Signed - the citizens of California. :+

Wendy! (I'm going to see my sister Wendy - like the name!) That sounds like a great weekend! Have fun tonight! Wish I could join you in the cocktails, but I gave 'em up for Lent! *frantically counts days until she can have cocktail*

I love the idea of using silk greenery to decorate - it gives a home such a wonderful feel.

Have a fab weekend!

Do you remember that quake? It was in 2001 or 2002. I was supposed to fly out that day, but it got cancelled at the last minute...

Yes I remember that quake...Feb 28, 2001, it was crazy. None of us knew what to do so like a bunch of idiots we ran outside and stood along the wall of a brick building!!! Only for a second though and then we realized DUH...move AWAY from the falling bricks! :p :+

Thanks Christine!

I hope the warm weather lasts until you make it here!:+ I'd have to laugh if "we give it back" just in time for your plane to touch down!:p

Have a good trip!

According to the reports, it's supposed to be nice (maybe some rain, but hey I'm used to that!). I would laugh, too, though... Just my luck lately! :p

I had friends on the 35th floor of one of the office buildings down town. What did they do? They went to the windows to watch the other buildings sway! It was a long one, wasn't it - over a minute.

Amazing what we do when confronted with new situations!

Heh..40 degrees isn't bone chilling cold! Actually, we had a really mild winter here--only about two snowstorms and lots of days in the 30s and 40s. When we finally got snow and below-zero temps and wind chills I realized how much I just dreaded living through winter here. So I am seriously considering California. :) Not crazy about the idea of going back to driving and I wouldn't want to go to LA, though.

By the way, I think that the weather for the weekend in MD is going to be nice.

I hope you enjoy visiting with your dad and sister:) I have been thinking about you and your fundraising efforts for Liver Cancer on your mom's behalf. How is your mom doing?

How is the fundraising going for you and your husband? If I am remembering correctly, both of you were going to do hiking fundraiser and you were concerned about raising the $3600 for the both of you. Have you been able to set up your website/Paypal account so those who wish to donate can? I still would like to contribute.

I am sorry this was a little off topic from the original post, but I just wanted to know how you were doing.

I will continue to keep you and your family in my thoughts,
