***WEEKEND OF KETTLEBELLS!!!***

Well, I actually have time to chat for a bit! :)

Tammy, I think starting out with just a few sections is fine, too. They really are tough workouts... it took me a looooong time before I was able to them the entire way through, and I had been doing Cathe, BBC among others. KBs are INTENSE! You will master it. I agree that a rest to regroup is a great idea. We all need that at one time or another. :)

Jane, I just filed away your crazy "I'm in Pain" w/o for a sunny Saturday - it looks AWESOME!!!! How is your dad? Any changes?

Marcy, it looks like you are having alot of fun with the SS! Does your DH do the dancing classes with you?... actually, I don't even know if you have a DH, lol! Do you? My DH is always wanting me to help him with stuff, like eating right and working out. Anyone want to guess how long that lasts? :p

Rhonda, yay for Bahamas! I hope you aren't thinking about us and are enjoying your trip before school starts again!

Deanie, I love the new living room. I know what you mean about warmth; my living room is centered around a fireplace and is nothing but fall colors; reds, burgundy, dark yellows, oranges... we have a rack full of blankets in similar colors and or walls are a really cool chamelion/could be mossy/could be khaki depending on what color is next to it. Our furniture is getting kind of old, but when we replace it we will get the same colors. There is just something about those colors that say "grab a cup of tea and a good book, snuggle and relax."

Gayle, how's Rascal? It's been a while and you haven't mentioned him so I am assuming he is back to normal now.

Laura, how are you doing? :)

Well, I feel like crap. This whole week I have eaten like crap. I have worked out like crap, if I have worked out at all. And I slept like crap. I have finally realized that it's our bed that is causing me problems, so we took it off the rail, took it off the box springs, removed the foam padding and - MAJIC! Three nights in a row of fantastic sleep. :D:D:D Why didn't we think of this earlier? Our set-up was way too bouncy and soft before, and like Goldilocks I feel this is juuuuuuuust right, so I guess even crap can have a happy ending... but wait, little blondie did not have a happy ending so maybe that's a bad analogy, but I am very happy right now.

I am doing Providence today; I would like to do the pain workout, but there is no way that I can with the junk I have been eating and lack of workouts these past 3 weeks. I am unprepared. At least I know the kind of pain that Anthony will bring on. :p Later on DD is running sprints for cross country, and I may or may not join her. She is faster than I am and I haven't decided if I want that kind of embarrassment displayed in front of our neighbors yet. It would give her a confidence boost, but I am not sure she needs any more of that. ;)

I hope everyone has an absolutely fabulous weekend. I will talk to you guys later!!!

Good Morning!

I got a great nights sleep last night and woke up late today. What a difference a good nights sleep makes in your workout!! I did SIM today, still with the same weights and the 15 seconds rest between exercises. And I swung Bertha for 2 sets of 50!!!:):) a personal record!! As always, I've enjoyed my week of SIM, and I'm ready to rock Resolution next week!!

Melissa!!! Great to catch up with you!! Missed ya!! Glad you are now getting a good nights sleep and have fun with Providence!!

waves to everyone!!

Have a great weekend!!

okay, just counted all the !!!, and apparently I am very enthusiastic today!!LOL:eek:

Hi everyone!

Deanie - Enthusiasm is a good thing!!! WTG on the Bertha swings! :)

Melissa - Great to see you! What a difference a mattress makes! I'm glad you're getting some good sleep. :) Thanks for asking about Rascal. He's back to normal. :) We think he might have pulled muscle or something in his neck or jaw.

I ended up doing Providence today, too. I forgot how much I really like that workout. :)

I'm off to run some errands. Have a great day everyone!

Hi Everyone,

I did PUB this morning and am hoping to get a swim in this afternoon. I'm crossing my fingers that the rain will hold off for a little while.

Deanie ~ Congrats on the Bertha swings!!! You are so strong!!

Melissa ~ Glad to see you checking in. I'm glad your sleeping has improved. Dad is doing well, thanks for asking. No major changes to report.

Hope everyone has a great afternoon!

Hi All!

I tried STS Disc 1 today. These workouts just aren't for me and I will be selling them ASAP.

Thanks for all the support and advice about my recent KB slump. Maybe I was trying to do too much, too soon. I'll try scaling back. I'm still thinking of purchase Enter the Kettlebell and the Lauren Brooks DVD.

Have a good night all!

Deanie - WTG on 15 seconds rests! You know what I hate most (which isn't really "hate" because I adore this workout)? The longer you worked the snatches/jerks/presses the longer break you have - and that drives me crazy! I am so antsy for time to be up so I can move to the next ex. Of course, I am an impatient person so... :p

Gayle, great minds think-er, workout alike. ;)

Jane, I hope that you were able to get your swim in.

Tammy, I didn't order STS because I had a feeling that I wouldn't like them much. From what I have heard about others it is a great workout, but the reviews convince me even more that they just aren't for me either. I don't have Lauren Brooks, but I haven't heard anything about her DVDs that aren't glowing, and she gives great instruction so it sounds like it'd be a great purchase. :)

Marcy, Laura, Rhonda, (am I forgetting someone???) HELLO! Hope you are enjoying your weekend/vacation! :) :) :)

After Providence I did 6x400 with my DearestD. We were supposed to do 10 sprints, but this was her first time EVER doing them and I didn't want to kill her (and, if I'm really being honest, myself). She is going to be a good runner; she has run intermittently with me for a while but nothing consistent, and we just started training for cross country this week yetshe is keeping up with me! I can't wait to see how she grows by learning to be disciplined and setting/reaching goals. Discipline is one area where she is lacking, and running will really help that. :)

I am doing SIM before church this morning. 30 second rests for me, though; I am feeling a bit sore from y'day and just a tad tired. But I am still sleeping great! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Have a great day everyone!!!

I am Back

Hi cyber buds!

Jamaica was great! A hot day in Jamaica is way better than a hot day in Texas. We stayed at an all inclusive for two days. We usually don't do this. The whole time I was thinking about my waist and my hips ( old habits are hard to break). I ate alot and drank more than I usually do. I mean, how can you say no to a drink called a "Dirty Bird"?

The hotel actually had a nice gym and I worked out once. I tried to channel my inner Jane and do some laps in the ocean. I did about 2 laps and floated the rest of the time. We had a really good time and thank God last night, we got the last 2 seats on the flight.

Deanie- Love the room. I really like that flowered chair. My living room is decorated in the same color scheme.

Melissa- My business to have as much fun as possible during summer:). DH works for an airline so we fly for really cheap and most times we can get good deals on hotel rooms also. His days off are during the middle of the week so we try to save up during the year so we can take mini vacations.

Gayle-Glad your doggie is okay. And how are you?

Jane- I looked at the "I'm in Pain" workout and it made me tired. One day, I am going to be an elite athlete. Not anytime soon. Did the rain hold off?

Tammy- KB workouts are like getting into a steaming bath. You have to ease into it but once you're in, you feel great.

Marcy- SS sounds fun. I keep swearing that I am not going to get another workout but I really want to get slimmer. I can't do anything long term until school starts and I get back into my routine.

Waves to Laura. Have a great weekend everyone.

Hi Everyone!

I did 100 laps in under a hour yesterday and had to get/rescue a BIG nasty spider that was trying to swim. YIKES!!

This morning I got up and ran 4.5 miles with my sister. It felt great!! I have the Hornet Nest 5K on Saturday and I want to be ready for it. It wasn't too humid but we got a late start so it was 91 degrees when we were through.

Rhonda ~ I'm glad you had a great time in Jamaica. What is a Dirty Bird? I don't even want to think what an all-inclusive resort could do to my hips. Once I get started with good food, I can't stop.

Melissa ~ Great job with Providence and 6x400!! It sounds like you had a great time with your DD.

Waves hello to the rest of the crew. Hope everyone has a great Sunday!

Jane- Good job on the run this morning. The spider was just trying to get in shape. Spinning webs probably is a cardio challenge for him.

disclaimer- I have no proof of this but ......

I think all inclusive translates to last night's Sweet and Sour porkchops are today's Fruity Pork Chops. Last night's pumpkin becomes tonights Pumpkin Soup.

Proof that I had too much to drink. It's called a dirty banana.

Dirty Banana

1 serving
Ingredients

  • 1 ounce rum-based coffee liqueur
  • 1 ounce rum cream
  • 2 ounces milk
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup (a mixture of 1/2 water and 1/2 sugar that is simmered until sugar is dissolved)
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 cup ice
Directions

Combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend for 1 minute, or until desired consistency. Serve in a frosted mug.
