Weekend Melters

Hi,

Let's try this again.:) ..Today I did GymStyle Back, Shoulders, Biceps. This is a good straight forward weight workout. I don;t like the band parts that much but overall, pretty good.

Sorry I did not get back yesterday, and when I did, I was in a bad mood.x( ..DF's wife went to do a tournament, and then to see her grandchildren. She may be gone up to a month. My DF is very lonely without her, calls me and my brother twice a day, is coming to my brothers for the day. This is ok, we love to see him, but there are some issues about her leaving that I am pretty upset about. Nuff said..and I have a wake to go to today, a friend's Mom died Thursday.. only in her 60's.

Robin:
Thanks for getting us started yesterday. How was the visit with Tristan? how was the recital?

Shelly:
You were pretty busy yesterday! Too bad you couldn't see Karen, but it's important that she knows you wanted to go see her.

Allison:
What a nice Aunt you are!;-) As for that nap you took, I think your body is telling you to rest, with the throat issues this week etc. so don't feel bad about napping. I took a 2 hour nap yesterday myself and it felt sooo good!

Leanne:
Do you think you will get used to the shorter haircut? I would like to go shorter with layers to take advantage of the waves in my hair but I don;t trust my stylist. She is a straight cut only person and sometimes she can't even get that right! I will try to get more Keegam pics up,if DH would ever get them out of his camera and into the computer! Please post the pics of your new haircut!

Kristi:
I bet you are happy the girls are home!:) Don't you just love the I-Trains?

Tneah:
Glad to hear AF arrived and you are over the bloats! Let us know what you think of Slo-Mo. Must check out that Katie Holmes bob! Would you want to live on a boat?

Lainie:
I know you were upset by your DH's comment about the house, but didn;t it feel good when he helped and you got some stuff done? I like when my DH and I do some "house" stuff together.

Have a great day!

Deb

Happy Sunday All!:)

Allison, yes! I am the "betta whisperer!";) I just adore sea life I think, growing up I wanted to be a marine biologist...well, you know how those things work out, but I still have a soft spot for all things "water related". Betta's are funny, I talk to mine and tease him, they like to fight, never put two in a bowl together, they will fight to the death. I used to name my fish Italian names like "Vito", but switched over to Spanish when I got Pedro. Your meal sounded kinda gross, well, the cottage cheese did anyway.:7 Glad you got your workout in depsite the hectic day, rest up today and take care of yourself!

Kristi, I cannot believe the unearthly hour you awoke this morning...ugh. Take a nap later on today, if you don't I will shall take one for you.;) I used to do my own laundry when I was your daughters ages, how cool they are counselors!Might have to check out Fitness Freak's leg blast rotation, she is big on the weights, and doesn't do alot of cardio, well, not alot compared to me. She said she would lose too much weight if she did the amount of cardio I do...yeah, well, thank you metabolism gods...ha!

Leanne, cannot wait to see your darling haircut! Have fun at your beading class, you are so cool and do really cool things.:) I need to get my bootay in gear and find a bellydance troupe here in Vegas or maybe even in San Diego....look forward to the pics....when is BIL coming again?

Deb, sorry about your dad's wife, that who you are referring to right? I get the abbreviations kinda mixed up sometimes...sounds like a hurtful situation for some reason. I too, like straight forward workouts. In the one you just did, Cathe does an exercise with the band, and says something like, "Did you feel that? Thought so, thats why its in the workout"...I always mimic her when she says that...always thought it sounded kinda snarky--in a funny way!

Well, DH arrived at midnight and of course wanted to keep me up talking about the boat he looked at, it needs alot of work done to update it. It is big enough to actually live on,honestly? The only thing I am worried about is whether or not I would be able to do my Cathe workouts if we lived on a boat? Would there be enough room for me? I would be happy if I could at least do her cardio workouts, then take my weights to the gym...ah, we will see. DH's dream is to retire on a boat and live...he is a Pisces so has that water thing going on big time, and I am very adaptable...hey, I have even lived in a van during a particularly dark period in my life, so I am pretty easy actually. My dream however is to own a Martha Stewart type house on the east coast in Conneticut where you are surrounded my maples, chickens, horses, dogs, cats, etc...I would grow a little veggie garden...I am much more earthy than DH,,,,,sigh.

Life is good either way! Cramps are nasty today, probably will not workout, and lay about again today...this is TMI but I can go through a box of 40 tampons during day one and two of my period... So needless to say I am left feeling a bit drained.

BBL to see whats up with the rest of you guys...

Happy Sunday morning! *ahem*...oops, I mean afternoon. ;) Slept a little late today and then spent the past three hours reading my new Stephanie Plum book. I just finished it and I'm so sad it's over. God, I love those books. Stephanie's the coolest ever.

Anyhoo, OMG, Tneah--you should totally build your dream house in CT! Then you could be my BFF. My Dad will probably have to sell his house in the divorce so you could totally buy it! It's 10,000 sq. feet and has so much land. There's a killer pool and hot tub too. Man, I love that house. He built it for my mom about 6 years ago but she hates it and has since moved out. Sigh. Oh well. I totally think you should move here and live in that house. Ah, a girl can dream, right? ;) You'd love that house.

Anyway, I'm off to go try PS Legs for the first time. I'm really liking these PS workouts. They're a little short so I always add in some extra work (I love adding in PUB work to it) but they're really great. Hopefully I can muster up enough energy for a run too. I'm itching to do iTread 9, 60 minutes again. I love that one! I've done it 5 or 6 times so far--I think it's my new fave.

I hope you all have a great day. Hugs and kishies to all!

Allison

Hello everyone. It's thunderstorming here today. Luckily it was dry as we walked to church and back. Then we went to Target and the rain started while we were in there. Now we're back home and everyone has been fed lunch, so I'm online for a bit before I go put Ewan down for his nap.

I had thought about going for a jog today (wobbly knees be darned) but I'm not keen on running when it's thundering and raining so hard, so nevermind. My knees will be glad.

I'm starting my heavy on the Cathe rotation tomorrow. I haven't decided if I'll do another week of full body or start a Slow & Heavy rotation. Here's a tentative plan:
MONDAY........Step Blast (Cathe Friedrich)
TUESDAY.......Push Pull (Cathe)
WEDNESDAY.....Kick Punch & Crunch (Cathe)
THURSDAY......Kettlebells the Iron Core Way Vol. 1 (Sarah Lurie)
FRIDAY........4DS Higher Intensity Step Cardio (Cathe)
SATURDAY......Supersets (Cathe)

If I do S&H instead, it will be the same cardio but S&H for the weights days instead.

I might put off the S&H and start it next week to do it all of July (or might alternate it with Amy's Slo-Mo or Cathe's Gym Styles). Any opinions?

Allison, I'm another one who enjoys those Stephanie Plum books. They are hilarious.

Tneah, your boat concerns sound like my living in NYC concerns. Not only do I also have to worry about schools for my kids, but I worry because I know we'd be in an apt with perhaps limited workout space. I would like more space in this house, anyway, but at least there is room in other parts of the house to store stuff for workouts. A lot of the apt buildings we look at have fitness centers, but then I think, "but I can't do Cathe workouts in the fitness center!" Hey, am I earthy or what?--I am not a beach or water person, really--I prefer mountains. Maybe that makes me 'air' of the 4 elements. :p Oh, and I think you should move to somewhere like Norwalk, CT, then you could be between me and Allison. :) DH and I would like to retire in between Scotland and France--summer in Scotland and winter in France.

Deb, yeah, it's nice that DH sometimes helps with the house, but when he does it's with a grumpy attitude. Ugh. He's happier today, though. I guess DF is your dad? How long has he been married to his wife? My mom just got married a year or so ago; it's still a bit weird for me.

Leanne, hope you have a great time beading today. I wish I were crafty, but I haven't got the patience. I do like to buy beaded stuff, though. I have enough patience for that. ;)

Kristi, can't believe how early you were up today. Ouch. Get some rest, girlfriend!

Shelley, Robin, & Kara, hi and hope you're having a good Sunday.

Hi Lainie, not many of us around today...I am online between bouts of resting and laundry.
I think your rotation looks great, can you stand S&H all week long? I only like it when I use it occasionally. I actually hate the chest work in S&H and the back work, going that slow kills my lower back, especially doing those rows, so I just do the shoulders and legs workouts which I love.

I would start with that rotation, do it for this week, then maybe next week do the S&H? I am plugging away at the Red Carpet workout, still not sure if its gonna give me results or not, am so used to pushing the weights ya know? But I figure if I stick with it this summer, by the time I return home to Vegas, STS will be here and I can start with that! Ah yes, my master plan....hopefully STS will be completed by the end of September....

Boy I wish it was raining here today, we have a toasty 110 outside...I hate feeling like this all crampy and drained, what else can you do but lay around?;( Ah well, tomorrow will be totally different, I will feel normal again...need to make to-do lists for the upcoming week.

We are leaving on Thursday (early am) for Florida and will return Sunday. Will get to see DH's mom who I adore, and wear my pretty dresses, the wedding will be great too I am sure. Will take plenty of pics to post when I get back...

Where's Shell-Bell? :(

Tneah--I'm sorry you're feeling yuckos. That stinks. Not to rub it in your face or anything, but I rarely, if ever, get cramps. The only thing I get around TTOM are wicked cravings. They're ridiculous. And they're usually for salt. x( Weird.

So I just finish PS Legs and Abs. It was a good workout--different and fun (and tough!). I love getting new workouts. I have almost all of Cathe's and that's all I do so I rarely get to do anything new.

I don't think I'm going to run. I'm tired and my knees are a little achey. I'll run tomorrow.

Lainie--You're kicking butt lately with your workouts! Your rotation looks great. I hope you have fun with it. I did a week of S&H last week. I like those workouts a lot but can't do more than a week of them at a time. They're so taxing mentally. I'm following Cathe's "Strong like a Bull" rotation. This is the third time I've done it. It's my absolute favorite. This is the first time I've had the chance to do PS the week it's called for since I've never had it before and I like it a lot. I always subbed 4DS previously. The week before was S&H and this coming week is GS and then the week after that uses PUB/PLB. I get to use all my favorite workouts with this rotation. I just love it.

Tneah--I agree with Lainie. You should definetely move to Norwalk if you move to CT (not that you will I'm sure...this is just wishful, playful thinking...;)) Oooohhhh--or Mystic! I LOVE Mystic. My exSO has his boat in Mystic and it's just the greatest little town ever. My Dad's house is in a little, woodsy, middle-of-nowhere town (where I grew up). Lots of cows and farms. Not much water. But I love it.

Ok, off to the shower. I'm drinking my protein shake right now. Dee-lish. I think I'm going to go shopping this afternoon. I need new clothes and I have gift certificates to Express and Old Navy from my birthday that I want to use. Old Navy's fun cuz you can gets tons of stuff for cheap (not the best quality tho). Express is awesome--my favorite store. But you can pretty much only get a sock for the price of ten outfits you could get at Old Navy. Ah well.

Eek, I forgot--wanted to say thank you to Tneah--I got your package on Friday! You are so sweet and generous to us! Thanks!

Tneah, yeah, I don't know how much S&H I can do, which is why I was considering alternating it with GS or Amy's Slo-Mo. I think I will do one more week of full body and then start the 3-day splits for the month of July. Can't wait to see your pretty dresses in those pics!

Allison, Express used to be my favorite store--in college and just after that's what I wore all the time. A lot of my college credit card debt was from shopping at Express. In high school it was The Limited. Now it's Ann Taylor Loft. I guess that's the way my fashion has aged with me. I was big on Casual Corner when I was working before I had the kids and moved to Europe, but they don't seem to have those anymore.

DH is leaving town tomorrow night until Thursday night (I think) and I have to admit I am kind of looking forward to it. The man totally takes over the big couch and the remote control. I want to be the one to lounge on the big couch and hotrod the remote! I need some more me time. Luckily he usually travels right when I need that. Then I am ready for him to come home when he returns. Anyway, he's going to Charlotte, Atlanta, and D.C. so it's a lot of traveling for him.

Also, this is Isaac's last week of Kindergarten. On Thursday night he has a special T-ball night as well. They give out certificates and hold a raffle and stuff. So it's a big week for him.

Hi, all,
Just peeking in to say "hi!" I was really lucky this morning because I slipped back into bed at 5:00 and was able to go back to sleep for a couple of hours. I've had a busy day. I've been making thank you notes. We also planned the itinerary for our family vacation to Chicago. We leave next Sunday (6/29) and return Thurs. (7/3). I LOVE Chicago, but the girls have never been -- it should be great fun!

Lainie -- your rotation looks good. Sounds like a busy week ahead for you. I just love going to Target on Sunday afternoon! I have an old brown leather bomber jacket from The Limited that my parents gave me for Christmas my freshman year in college -- wow! I still love that thing!!!

Allison -- I also used to love Express long ago. It's such a cool store! I still love Old Navy -- esp. for stuff for the girls. Like you said, you can get a ton for not so much money. I haven't done my iTreads yet (I bought 3 during that buy 3/get 3 special), but I got the 3 outdoor ones, and I'm planning to do them on Lake Michigan while we are in Chicago. I LOVE running on Lake Michigan!

Tneah -- My DDs both told me today that they love the lip plumper! I really like it, too! Retiring on a boat sounds like a lovely life! I am going to add a bit more cardio to the rotation I'm going to do; I'm just scared not to! It'll mostly be step since I'm desperately trying to learn it before RT. Also, when we're out of town, I'll run because that's just the easiest thing for me to do. You're trip sounds like fun -- can't wait to see the pics. I hope you are feeling tons better tomorrow!

Leanne -- I hope your jewelry class was lots of fun -- post pics of the project! We're all looking forward to those new puppy pics. :)

Deb -- I'm sorry about the situation with your DF. Family issues can just be so frustrating!

Hello to the rest of you lovely melters!!!

I'm back...I have a question: So what on earth do you do on a Sunday when you do not feel well enough to do your "usual stuff" like working out, housework (well I have done laundry), errands, etc....but well enough not to be laying around sleeping and watching tv all day long?

I swear, poor me.I feeling much better now, but I am strange, I start feeling guilty about too much downtime...I know, Lainie is like, "Here's my kids Tneah!":7 I have a ton of stuff to do this week though, so maybe should just chill out huh?

Hi to Kristi...you will learn the steps, I actually made it through all of LowMax the other day without too many problems...a real accomplishment for me!

Lainie, thank goodness DH insists on a tv in every room, otherwise we would box over who gets the remote! Glad you are getting some "me time". And how exciting for Issac and his team! Will they be getting awards?

Funny I used to do visual merchandising for the windows of a Casual Corner in Seattle...you are right, they do no make those stores anymore...Okay, my pathetic self today...gonna go start a new book and go and bug DH....:p

Hi all. Sorry, but I haven't had any time to catch up with what you've all been doing over the weekend. We had another busy day and I'm exhausted. I thought I let you in on some of the highlights of my weekend, then I'll try to catch up on yours tomorrow.

We picked Tris up about 12:30 and went on the Lackawana Coal Mine tour. It's very interesting, but kind of hard. The guide we had was a young guy who was involved in a mining accident a couple weeks ago where his co worker was killed. He had to skip some of the tour about the dangers of mining.

The recital was good, but very long. Evidently the studio where Tris and his group go is huge. The whole thing was over 3 hours. Some was great, some was cute, some sucked. The special needs group did three numbers, with varying degrees of success. Emily and I wept through all three. We headed out for the 2 hour drive home about 9:30. When we pulled into our drive, it was dark and slightly foggy and we were all half asleep. There appeared to be a man standing in front of our garage. We were all thinking, "What the heck???" when we all realized at the same time that it was Emily's boyfriend, Jay, who was supposed to be in Afghanistan. He has two weeks leave and wanted to suprise his mom and Emily. Boy, did he! It's so good to have him home. I wish we didn't have to send him back.

Today we went to church, followed by a birthday party for a friend's five year old. After that was pizza night with my MIL. So now I'm stuffed with pizza and cake and beyond tired. But a good tired, in spite of eating crap all weekend, not working out and missing all of you. I'll see you all tomorrow. Yawn. Night!

Hello, lovely ladies!

Just got home from L. A. and took a quick cold shower before scarfing down some pizza since I was a sweaty mess when I got home! It was 106 degrees out when I left the bead store, and it didn't cool down outside to about 82 until I had been driving for almost an hour. Ug!

I'll post some photos of the bracelet tomorrow when I have more patience to deal with the digital camera. :) Right now, my back is killing me from sitting in this stupid metal folding chair all day. I should probably do some yoga, but I'm feeling too lazy. :) DH is with his gaming group today, so maybe I can talk him into some Classical Stretch when he gets home tonight.

This week is going to be another hectic, but fun, week. Tomorrow I'm meeting a work friend for lunch and some shopping (although I can't buy anything right now!) at Nordstrom. This friend of mine is so sweet, and it's her last year coming up before retirement. She's literally the senior-most faculty member at my school, but she sure doesn't look it! Tuesday we're going to spend the afternoon with my dad and his wife, and then Wednesday we'll have to spend some time cleaning out the guest bedroom -- b/c the BIL and in-laws arrive here from Wisconsin on Thursday afternoon! YIIIIKES!

Lainie -- I'm an AT Loft, girl, too! :) I love their stuff! I saw your post about your braces, and I'm so sorry that the braces are still giving you trouble! Several people mentioned the Waterpik, and that really is great! You really will get used to them after awhile, too. I had mine on for two years. The first part was the worst since I also had a tooth up in my gum (gross!) that I had this SUPER thick rubber band on. My older brother nicknamed me Snaggle Tooth. I looked mighty fine (ha ha), but at least I didn't have to have head gear. You'll get more used to them! Your rotation looks good! I love having the house to myself, too! :)

Tneah -- How are you doing with all that crazy heat there? How cool that you used to be a visual merchandiser! I swear, you're a woman of SOOOOO many talents. :) That'll be so much fun to go to the wedding this coming weekend, but we will certainly miss you! You should talk DH into buying that big house in the woods in CT for retirement instead of the boat. ;-) You poor thing with that awful bleeding during the first part of TTOM! Have you asked your Dr. about that? That would be so much fun if you got back into belly dancing! I get those weird Sunday feelings, too, where I feel like I have too much time. (I know -- we shouldn't be complaining -- but maybe some of our Melty friends will send their kids over to you and me for some babysitting!;-) ) Maybe a new hobby of some sort would be fun.

Deb -- Sorry that you've had to deal with those family issues with your DF's wife! {{{HUGS}}}! Did it feel good to get your workout in today, though?

Kristi -- Glad you managed to get a bit more sleep! We'll miss you while you're in Chicago, but it sounds like you're going to have so much fun. Will it be pretty warm there?

Allie -- Isn't PS great? I just got it a few months ago. I'll be doing it this week, too, since I'm also doing a variation of Strong Like a Bull! I extended each week out, though, to add in one extra day of legs and one day of kettlebells. Speaking of KB workouts, this morning I did that Extreme Cardio one you just ordered -- and it kicked my butt again! I think you'll really like it!}( Did you find anything good while out shopping?

Robin -- Sounds like you had a fabulous weekend! We missed you, but it's so nice to hear that you were able to spend time with Tristan and Emily. What a surprise that Emily's BF showed up like that from Afghanistan! Wow!
