Week off?

From 1997 - 2000, I was a regular Cathe junkie. Then I had a baby and wasn't allowed the time because my daughter would get all upset, or get in my way, or whatever. Now Teri is 4 and can occupy herself for an hour. She still tries to talk me out of exercising because she's not my center of attention, but she's coming to accept it. (I even tried giving her my old little step so she could exercise along with me, but she's only 4 - Cathe is a bit beyond her coordination level. I gave her a set of 2 lb. dumbbells. She's SO cute doing her chest presses)

I seem to remember back then that Cathe recommeded working out for 6-8 weeks, then taking a week off, then starting over. I can't find anything in the posts about that now. Is that still recommended? I just finished Week 7 so I'm not sure if I should plan on a week off. I know Teri would be thrilled if I took a week off to play with Simba and Nala with her!

If you feel you need the week off, then take it. You won't lose any fitness in a week. If you think you may have a problem getting back in the groove again after the week off, consider doing easier workouts for a week, or cutting it down to less days for a week.

I try to take a week off twice a year (this doesn't include those unintentional weeks when I get the flu or whatever). It gives all your muscles a chance to recover & I always feel much stronger when I come back.

Don't know about a week off every 6-8 weeks--that sounds like a little too much recovery! ;-)
