Wednesday Check In

Cathlete
Good morning ladies. No check in yet? Whats going on, its almost 730am! :) LOL

I'm at work, as usual just checking in to say hello. Hope everyone has a great day. The past two days at work have been crazy !

Morning!!
HI Jen-have you decided about the crib? Sorry work has been wild. Hope today is calmer!
Melanie-I LOVE A&P!!! Micro is fun too but its not my fav. I am starting dental hygeine school next fall! Did your dh ever take the medication to help he stop dipping? Wasnt that you?? If so, how is that going? Have a great day!
This period is a rough one. Im glad I have nowhere to go today. Im just going to stay home and study.
Hi to everyone!!! Smile and have a great day!!

Here's my post from last night (sometimes I post so late, I don't think it's seen):
Susan, I sneezed into my petri dish for microbiology. Got a whole lot of Staph aureus. Oh my, it's been along time since I've typed the microorganism! What are you studying? Do you like Anatomy & Physiology? I thought that class was tough,...but we got our very own cadavor!!! Sorry about AF.

Kate, you're spoiled girl? You must be our little princess.

Jen, I totally hear what you're saying about size. I once got Toddler fire engine & car beds from Craigs list. Drove 90 miles to go get it, got home & it smelled like cat litter---and when we got it into the bedroom---there wasn't enough room to walk in it. Fortunately, I was able to sell it again on Craig's List (after a thourough cleaning)...and even made some money! We also purchased a sectional couch once that took up our entire living room! We had to return it to Slumberland! I suppose it was all part of living in a 900 square foot house!

----------------------------------
Now, for todays post...

Jen, it's not even 7 here in Minnesota! I tried to get up earlier & get my w/o in...but again, I was unsuccessful. Today I have the day off, so I'll get it in. Either Hardcore Extreme or Imax3 is the plan. Thurs thru Sat I work in town 9-530, so I won't shouldn't have any problems getting a w/o in...

Susan, "dipping"? Hmmmmmmm What's that? Is it slang for something? ;) Congrats on getting into dental hygeine school. Is it difficult to get in? They have a real nice salary, and they always seem so happy. You'd be happy to know that I have NEVER had a cavity/filling in my entire life! :D

Hi to everyone else out there. I'll check back later. :)

Melanie I guess "dipping" is a southern word for using smokeless tobacco..the nastiest thing in the world!! I can't remember who it was talking about it a while back. We dont have cadavors here..just sheeps and pigs!

Ew i hate when people chew/dip i think its so disgusting (sorry to anyone out there who has this habit!)

Susan, good luck with studying, sorry about AF
Melanie i usually go check the new posts from the day before :)
Harcore Extreme! I did this one Sunday - the hi/low intervals one...i thought iw as going to die!! LOL. Be careful!

About the crib, i have the one i purchased, but my dad is going to get the free one. He said check it out and see if i like it better and just sell the one i dont like. i think they both come with a matress. The crib and mattress i apid for is $100 so i'm sure i could sell it for that, and maybe help pay dad back for the crazy expensive uhaul rental. I was trying to get in touch with the people with the free crib but they never picked up and had no answering machine or voice mail :( So supposedly my dads coworker is going to take it and give it to him. But we shall see...so hopefully we will pick one we like and have luck selling the other

i use craigslist a lot and had great luck in DC. butdown here it isnt popular because i have a heck of a time selling items. I need to sell my brand new sleeper sofa to make room for the nursery. just one ofer thats too low :( I'm really hurting for money, times are so tight lately :'( So hopefully someone will purchase it, we need the space now, especially if im going to have two cribs until one sells!!

Wow, that turned out to be a long reply on the cribs!

I have my appointment this friday morning. Yay, another ultrasound. Its so reassuring to see and hear the babys heartbeat and know everything is normal. DH said i can find out the sex if i want but dont tell him. Sigh....i cant talk him into knowing!

I have not felt any movement yet :( But im hoping to soon. it must be a freaky feeling at first!

I stepped on teh scale and i've gained about 8-10 pounds in the last couple of WEEKS. I almost passed out! My first 3.5 weeks i gained like nothing. Oh my goodness i havent seen that number on the scale ever. Im kind of depressed. I'm only 18 weeks, if this keeps up i will gain way more than the desired healthy amount. I know, I know i'm pregnant I need to gain but it is just soooooooooo hard to see that. (I had issues in the past with food and exercise and weight...not good. I'm better now, but theres still a part of me that can freak out over stupid numbers). Does that make me a bad mom ? :'( Im eating tho and gaining, i was just shocked. Its like it jumped over night!!

Anyhoo...i hope you all have a great day.

Jen, Good luck with the crib(s). No worries on the weight gain!!! I know, easier said than done, esp. coming from me, huh???!!

Susan, I'm glad you can take it easy today. Wrap up in bed with a warm blanket and a heating pad!

Melanie, I kinda DO feel like a princess this week!:p I'll crown you Cardio Queen then!:D I miss Imax3 - wah!!!!! Do some plyo-jacks for me! Good luck to Justin at preschool! I'm taking Isabel in just a minute...

I'm doing my WO after I drop off Isabel - be back after that.........

Kate, enjoy your pampering you deserve it!

Susan, my DH never "dipped",...must have been someone else. We are both X-smokers though. I had my 10 year anniversary in July (awarded myself with a top of the line gently used elliptical). I have my BS in Chemistry & Biology--and doctorate in pharmacy. Sometimes I miss school. My 14 year old is so impressed that I know all of his 8th grade math & science stuff. It makes me feel smart to be able to do his 8th grade stuff. :p

Jen, I wish I would have just purchased a new crib & matress before I had number 2. I wanted to be thrifty & had so many people offer me their used cribs for free. Well, they never did make it...or slats were to wide...or they were unsafe. I would consider splurging & purchasing a new one. Jenny Lind cribs go on sale for $100, and if you're going to have any more kids you won't regret it. Just my opinion...I normally will use anything used (except underwear). As far as movement goes 16-18 weeks is pretty normal--a little longer for first pregnancies. Nothing to worry about. Are your weight gain expectations realistic? The norm is 30lbs---and if your thin to begin with 35lbs. As long as you're eating healthy & working out the weight WILL come off. Do you plan to nurse (extra bonus, big calorie burner).

Well, I best get going. I have a playdate in about 15 minutes. She's never been over. I'm excited/nervous and hope it goes well. :)

MIKKIA!!!! WHERE ARE YOU!?!?!?!
You were going to have your ultrasound and now we haven't heard from you! I hope everything is okay! Just give us a quick hello!

Melanie, I hope your playdate goes well! OUr kids don't think we get nervous but we still do don't we?:) How is preschool for Justin today?

We splurged on our crib too. We paid $1000 for it but its held up beautifully and when the last baby is done with it as a crib it converts to a toddler bed then a full-size bed. AH! I still need to post a pic of the room! I don't have time this AM, but hopefully soon.

I just did Muscle Endurance (minus the lunges and abs) and boy am I going to BURN tomorrow!:D I lifted so heavy and felt such a good burn! LOVED IT! I have my prenatal massage tomorrow so I wanted to be extra sore all over so I could really enjoy it! My 90-minute pedicure/leg massage is Saturday so on Friday I'm going to do some good cardio and calf work.:D

Good morning!

Melanie~wow that is an impressive school list! I am almost to an associates.. I got married and had babies after 1 1/2 years in school. I said I'd go back, but ya know. LOL That is aweome you can help ds w/ school. It's crazy what they are learning now and earlier and earlier!

Susan~good luck w/ dental school. I am TERRIFIED of the dentist. As in I'd rather go have surgery and get cut open then go to the dentist. I brush daily and take care, but for some reason I just have bat teeth. I had to have one pulled when I was 12 weeks pregnant this time and they coudln't get it out so they ended up cutting it out.. ugh It took over 20 mins and I was shaking the entire time. DH had to sit on my legs because I was shaking so badly. Of course I only had novicane since I was preg. I couldn't have the laughing gas or valium. It might be a while before I go back after that. LOL I wish I wasn't like that and I feel silly, but apparently it's a real fear that some have of the dentist. Sorry AF is kicking your butt. I say rest up, watch some chick flicks or read.. do something you enjoy today.

Jen~I didn't feel my first move till AFTER my big u/s and we found out he was a boy. So it was after 20 weeks. I don't think it's uncommon to not feel the first baby till later. It'll happen and then you'll feel them all the time! That stinks about the sofa.. craigslist isn't soo big here either. I am looking for a few items and I can't find anything.

Kate~I keep forgetting to tell you that I love the name Isabel.. it is on my list.. well Isabella is on my list.. dh has yet to make or even discuss a list. Hope you get a great w/o in!

Getting ready to take both little ones to their well child check ups. I know my DD needs 2 shots.. not sure if the little guy needs 1 or not. Apparently Hep. A is a shot they require down here, but not in VA so they both need it and DD needs a second chicken pox. Dreading it.. older ds got his last week and he was so upset. I plan to stop at the walking trail after the dr. if the kids are okay. It's a 2.15 mile loop I do it 2x. It's acutally NOT hot and humid today. It almost feels like fall in VA.

Trish I too used to be terrified of the dentist and I also have really weak teeth. I always seem to have something wrong. Until I was in my 20s I went to a dentist that only did as little as he could because I was so nervous..wouldnt even get a shot. When I was about 25 I went to a new dentist to have a LOT of work done. He was very nice but staright to the point. He told me to take a xanax and get over it!! I was like OMG!! Long story short..the dentist doesnt bother me at all anymore. I have had 3 root canals, 3 crowns and an extraction. I worked as an dental assistant for a long time so I have seen many panic attacks. Anyway, Im looking forward to being a hygienst!!!

Kate I was wondering about Mikkia also. Great workout girl. Your massage will feel great!

I am taking today as a rest day.

Melanie-hope you enjoy your playdate!
I think it was Kristin who was talking about tobacco?? Oh heck I just cant remember who it was.

Kate!!!!!! You spent ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS ON A CRIB?!?! Wow, girl. You must be really wealthy. I don't know anyone who has spent that much. I've never seen one for that much,....where did you get it?!?!?!

The playdate went well. :) Justin seems worn out from his 3 hours of school. He'll have to work on his endurance!

Trish, I wanted to spell Isabel the french way (Isabelle) instead of the Spanish way but Mike said kids would call her Isa-Belly. And chalk up another one who didn't make it to her associates!:D We didn't really see the point in me continuing since we knew I'd be a SAHM. Good luck at the drs today! I would dread that too!

Susan, How are you feeling? I hope AF leaves you quickly so you can give it another go-round!:)

Melanie, Isabel is always exhausted on preschool days too. And I sure don't feel wealthy but there are somethings we do splurge on - the crib was one of them. It was at a shop in a local store - I'll post a pic soon.

Lunch is done/cleaned up - looking forward to Isabel's nap so I can get some things done!:)

LOL Melanie on the crib
Kate i'm looking forward to those pics! I havent decided if im going to paint the nursery or not.

Guess what? dad called and brought the free crib over. so i'll check itout tonite and sell the one i dont use (hopefuly). My husband was home so i asked what he thought and he said looks just like the other one..men

Anyway i am so upset and worried right now. AS you probably know i have an english bulldog named meatball and an imperial shihtzu (my baby) named princess

dh said meatball threw up this morning and was sick. i was like hmm..poor baby. No biggie, dogs get sick. Then i remembered the other day my mom told me pedigree had a recall and my husband bought pedigree last week - because our expensive food got covered in ants! So he went for a cheaper version. We NEVER use pedigree...come to find out, its been recalled due to samonella. Now im wondering if my doggy got poisoned. And the dogs steal each others food - princess uses a different brand for smaller dogs :( Im so worried...my dh is at court for work right now and they are alone. I have to get them a vet anyway, and i hope they dont have any poisoning. I would be so upset if anything happened to my fur babies, and they are expensive breeds too.
i cant concentrate because im all paranoid and worried about them....

so if anyone uses pedigree please return it to the store..

Susan- that was my husband who dipped. He used Chantix, which is intended for smokers. It totally worked. He quit 2 months ago and is doing well, but occasionally yearns for a dip. We've saved a ton of $$ with him not dipping.

Kate- you should see what I spend on strollers. We've easily had $2000 worth of strollers come in and out of this house in the last 8 years. And I've got my eye on another- the Red Castle Whizz for $200 at Mamabargains (retails for $600). Husband said no way so I think I'll ask my mom to buy it for my birthday.

Autumn- Mimi's baptism is October 11. This time we're doing a 3:15 service before Mass on a Saturday. My friend bought her the most beautiful Infant of Prague medallion on Czech beads to wear around her wrist. Mimi's gown is the same my husband wore. It's the last baptism of my MIL's 19 grandchildren, so it will be kind of sad for her to retire the gown after this (I think we're finished).

Kristin thanks for posting!! Im so glad your dh was able to quit. My dh was worried about the side effects her read about Chantix. Did your dh have any bad effects??

Susan, as a pharmacist I can tell you we have dispensed lots and lots of Chantix. It became a fast mover, really quick. I've heard alot of positive feedback. A few people have done 2 rounds of it. I tell people to take with food & full glass of water (can upset stomach), to watch out for strange dreams (can be nightmares), and to also look for changes in behavior/mood (some reports of depression/suicide/other strange mood changes). NONE of my patients have complained of these....one fellow said he got stange dreams---but they were great---remembering his high school days.

I second the stroller thingie with Kristan. I've gotten 2 sets of double strollers, one double jogging stroller, one regular (one seater) stroller, and a single jogging stroller. Each was worth their $. It's all about the value that the individual puts on the product, right?

Melanie~ you'd be surprised what some cribs cost! My dad bought our first sons crib and it is like Kate's where it goes to a toddler bed then a full size bed. If you think of the money it will save down the road it's a great investment. He can have that till he moves out! I believe my dad paid $700 for it and then the mattress was $100, but we bought the matching dresser and it was $600 and I about died over that! Now he has a great solid oak set that I am glad we got. Since we paid for all of my DDs furniture we got her a nice set that also converts to a full size bed, but it wasn't nearly as much. The set was $700 total. Then when Landon came along we got bought a bunk bed so now my oldest 2 are in the bunk bed in 1 room and 1 crib is for my little DS and the other crib is for the new baby. We play musical furniture here. LOL

Susan~glad you were able to overcome the dentist fear. I hope I can one day. I worry I'll pass it on to my kiddos. So far they have only had cleanings and no fillings or anything so they like to go.

Kristan~I am about to spend a lot on a stroller! I told DH I HAVE to have a good double jogger. He is deploying in May for a year so I won't have anyone to watch the kids while I run. The older 2 will be in school, but I will have the 2 little ones and I will go crazy if I can't run. They have one jogger tht goes up to 150 combined weight. Most are 100lbs so I am going to look into getting the one that holds more.

Oh and my DH dips as well, but I don't think it was me talking about it here. I might suggest that Chantix to him. My dad took it and he quit. He smoked for like 45+ years too! If DH would quit that nasty stuff I'd be thrilled. It is hard now in the military because everyone either smokes or chews. Well not everyone, but a large majority. I guess it's a stress coping thing. : (
