We scheduled a regular chat!

Some of the girls & I took it upon ourselves to schedule the chat room for playtime--Fridays at 3:30 EST. Hopefully we'll all be winding up our work weeks & able to goof a little.

See ya tomorrow! :)

I can't take the time during work hours, but I was wondering if anyone wants to chat on Friday evening? Say around 9 pm eastern time?

Well darnit Nancy, I'd love to chat with you! But I don't have a computer at home. :(

Also I'm usually falling asleep by 9. ;)

Darn it, I can't make it to the chat today, Laura :( - client meeting!! 9 pm Eastern sounds great, Nancy. Are we starting today?

oh boo! I work at 3 on fridays :-(. I wanna meet everyone a little better. I'll try to catch it when I can.

Sure, Carola. Why not? So there are 2 chats scheduled for today, and everyone should feel free to join in whenever they're available.

Laura, I almost fell off my chair when I read that you don't have a computer at home! How do you do stuff?

Why, I do it at the office, of course!

Honestly, I'm here so often that I don't want a computer at home. If I had one I'd never get to leave work.

i didn't have a computer at home for about a year and it was a blessing in disguise! When I left work, I left it all there, other than maybe some reading at home, and I really had some great downtime. Now I jump on the computer and work pr surf and I never get away!

Try as I might, I cannot imagine it. I order my groceries and drugstore stuff online. I buy almost everything else online too. I get my subway advisories online. I read the NY Times online. I get my restaurant reviews online. I email with my family and friends on evenings and weekends. I even get news about my building online, (i.e. the elevator is being repaired on Tuesday). I won't even rent a movie without reading about it on rottentomatoes.com, or buy a book without reading all the reviews online. In fact, I won't even buy a mascara without reading reviews online. :p I can't even exercise without my computer because I download my songs from itunes!

Once or twice our DSL went down and I almost went out of my mind. It was like trying to get through the day without electricity. Every time I tried to do something, I realized I couldn't do it.

I know there was a time before my laptop, but I don't remember it. Life started for me in 1996 when I got my first laptop and I haven't looked back since! Maybe I'm nuts, but I cannot fathom life without it.

We go through school with no internet....

How the heck did we make it through school with no internet & NO COMPUTERS??????!!!!!!!! We did that, & I don't know how. We went to libraries, typed our papers with TYPEWRITERS, or even did them in long-hand, like I did in high school. Boggles the mind, doesn't it?

Does anyone else remember having fancy fonts for their typewriter that you could switch out for the normal font? You popped that little round "letter" ball off and snapped the new one in... Now I have access to hundreds of fonts with the click of a mouse. Makes you wonder how we did survive. ;)

I remember that well! And do you remember that when you wanted to justify lines you had to count out the letters, punctuation, and spaces ahead of time and then decide where to add the extra spaces so that the lines came out justified?!

OMG, I did not one, but two theses on a word processer! Remember those crappy things? And they were both 100+ pages. And the stupid thing would overheat after 10 pages & print gobbledygook.

Nancy324, please toss that thing out the window & come back to humanity! ;)
