Walking Lunges on Treadmill

OK - so I really want to incorporate walking lunges into my regular routine, but I don't have a good place in my house to do them and I don't have access to a track. I was thinking of doing them on the treadmill with the setting on a slow speed. Does anyone here do them like this? Any tips?

TIA!!:7

That is so funny. I was just coming to post the exact same question. I read about this in a magazine. I can't remember which one. It suggested doing walking lunges on the treadmill at a very slow speed if you have no place to do them. I've tried just a couple after my walk and it seems very doable at the slowest speed.

If you get this worked out let us know what speed you came up with. I tried it once, but couldn't do it. I've even tried backwards and can only do that while holding the handles and going very slowly.

Sounds dangerous to me. Can't you just step outside and lunge your way round the car park, down the road, around your garden, along the halls of your appartment block?

I'd personally feel like a fool and would never do the walking lunges in "public"! LOL
I have a small house and on the rare occasions that I do them, I make it work down my little hall way. I just turn around lots! :+

I would not do them in public either. I have a small house also. The front hallway would be the only place, and I might could do 2 before turning around. That's it. My treadmill is very slow when set at 0.5, I mean VERY SLOW. It is barely even moving at that speed.

I've done them in motel rooms, so I'm sure there MUST be a hallway or something you can use. Could you go from room to room all through the house? Or around the basement?
Just Do It! :)

Hugh Jackman used these as part of his training program for the "X-men" movies (there was a show on it on FitTV a while ago). I personally can't see how to do it safely, unless you start out with the belt going VEEERY SLOOOOOWLY.

If you have "no space," you can try doing two or three lunges forward, then either turn around and do two or three lunges back, or face the same direction and do two or three back lunges. Just be sure to alternate the lead leg with each "round".

I have never tried them on a treadmill but I have a seen a few women do walking lunges on the treadmill at my rec center. I thought to myself what a great idea. They have the belt going very slowly and always have such good form. I have never liked the treadmill and prefer to run outside so I'm not comfortable even trying this. I usually do my walking lunges on the indoor track, but it is possible to do them on a treadmill.
