Helo everyone

Does anyone have one? I've just got one on Ebay. It seems like a very powerful machine and certainly a huge help with healthy eating.
Any recipes?

LOL....sorry for laughing but Maximus I read your response and instantly saw Lucy on t.v. trying to sell the product.:7 :7

Hm... :) Vita-Mix is a very powerful blender. Great to make vegetable juices and different smoothies. It doesn't separate the fiber from the juice. I made some beet, carott, apple juice last night and it was great. You throw everyting in and get the juice out. It is expensive but it seems it was worth every penny.

Hi there,

Yep, I saw a Vita-mix demonstrated at Costco a couple of months ago and have been thinking about it ever since. Amazing machine! The demo guy actually made taco soup ( kale, celery, boullion, tomatoes,corn,onion...delicious.) before my eyes. The friction the blades cause literally heated the soup while it was being whirlled around! THEN, he cleaned that puppy out and made some fruit juice (apples, celery, berries, carrots and a bit of beet)...good too. THEN, he turned around and made a frozen dessert out of the juice I just mentioned plus some frozen berries, ice and yougurt...it had the consistency of ice-cream!!! I'm jealous you have one. Let us know what neat things you make and how often you use it. I have a smootie almost every morning and would add more things to mine if I knew my blender wouldn't burn out on me.

Well, unlimited smoothies. The machine is really very stong. It is loud as a freight train though. I am at the experimenting stage now. I've bought organic kale, beets, zucchini, leek, carott, tomatoes you name it. My kids were commenting on the amount of "guinea pig food" that I bought! :)
I also made ice cream last night -- fat free half & half w/frozen berries w/splenda. YUMMY -- In about 2 minutes. Just throw everyting in it and turn it on and don't forget to use the ear plugs.:)
Tomorrow I'll start the day with a carott apple orange ginger smoothie. So... so far so good.
I've read about it first in the "Eat to Live" book, them also in the Dr.Bob Arnot book "Turn Back the Clock".

I've had my Vita-Mix for over 5 years. Love it. The only drawback is that the noise level of the Vita-Mix motor is equal to that of an F-16 jet engine. I actually have my children leave the room when I am making smoothies. It makes THE best margaritas and in volume. Cha, cha, cha :)

I bought one this summer from Costco. They were having a demo and we were sold when they made some ice cream. :)

It is really loud. It scares the heck out of my cat, but cleanup is such a breeze.

Might sound strange, but the Vitamix might be loud enough that it would be a good idea to wear ear protection when using it. Either that, or risk damaging your hearing in the long run.At hardware stores, you can get some things that look like ear muffs that will protect your hearing.

Wow, you are making me crazy jealous over here. So tell me, what does Dr. Arnot's book say about the Vita-mix? Please keep us posted on the recipes and also how easy is it to use/store etc.? I bet you can make a quick and dirty Potato, garlic and kale soup in it!

Hi Envious :)
I love Bob's books. If he recommends something I buy it from rowing machine to vita-mix ;-)
So... it is very easy to use.
meal one: carott, ginger, apple
meal two: tomato, basil, zucchini, kale
meal three: yogurt, cucumber fresh dill, garlic
Takes no time at all, and the cleaning is as easy as to clean your blender.
Dr.B says that the best part is that it keeps the fiber.
Basically I just throw everyting in the blender, turn the switch and hold it.
I'm glad that I bought it. The old blender died anyway, so I had a good excuse to buy a new one.

I've heard of it and you guys are all making me want one!! :) How much do they cost (especially at Costco, since we go there quite a bit)? :)

Thanks, macsca...I was at Costco today and didn't see that they had it either...but they DID have the Jack LaLanne juicer for $114...that one looked pretty good on an informercial I saw. :)

Well, theVita-Mix is supposed to be so good because it doesn't separate the juice from the fiber. You get the whole thing. I've just made another one, apple, beet, celery and kale. I think it was missing something... but I'm working on it!

My favorite juice combo (in a juicer, but it would work in the vitamix as well) is: carrot, pineapple, winesap apple. You can also add some celery.
