viola and dad

Cathlete
afternoon catheland,

viola's IEP went very well and we all shared ideas. we will meet again before the end of school year to discuss an extended school year program to help viola stay on track and strengthen any weak spots in her academics and speech.

as far as father, the doc is calling the veteran's hopstial in our area to get him in for another scan. the doc said even if it is cancer as long as it hasn't busted through his thryoid, it will be as simple as removing the thryroid and of course doing the drain for the clot on the brain. he does not think the two were related just seemed to happen at the same time.

over the summer my dad had a pretty nasty fall off his bike and wasn't wearing a helmet(TAKE NOTES ON SAFTEY) so the clot on the brain may have been from a concussion from then. as far as the thyroid he is a stubborn fool who didn't get the lump looked at sooner before it got this bad. its not painful for him its just growing. he seems in good spirits so i should be too.

thanks and blessings to all,

kassia

Thanks for the update. My dad is also a veteran and a couple of years ago he had a stroke. He is doing a whole lot better now. I didn't know anything about viola before reading your post and it sounds pretty serious. I'll keep your dad in my thoughts. Take care of him and yourself.

Glad things went well on the IEP and sounds like things with your Dad went better than expected.

All good thoughts and prayers

Kassia,

Glad to hear that Viola's IEP meeting went well, and that your Dad's in good spirits. I will continue to keep you and my family in my thoughts and prayers.

Cath :)

thank you all. you are all so awesome, my dad thinks its so cool we support each other like this. i am starting feel a little bit at ease but i am still waiting for the hospital to call back and give us some more info. my step-sisters have been hogging up the phones calling the doctors. well i guess its a way to get the family together around the holidays LOL.

Kassia--You crack me up:7 :7 :7 I love your sense of humor! It really sucks that all this is going on over the holidays. I'll keep you and yours on my prayer list.

well michele this wouldn't be the first holiday like this. around 2002 my grandmother was rushed to the hospital and they found out that she was walking around for nearly a year and half with colon cancer(her primary never had a mri or scan done with her syptoms). this was 4 days before xmas and the doctor(not such a happy person himself) said you have someone to stay with mr. hoenge b/c i do not think she will be making it through the night. HA!! grandmother showed him, she not only made it but was up and moving around a few days after surgery. all she said was she has to get home and help her "snook"(grandpa's pet name) out, he can't walk to well himself.and there were some issues going on between me dh and his cousin. nobody got along and there was almost a fist fight on that day with me and his cousin. then to top that one off we all got some stomach virus the following day. 4 ppl trying to fight over one little bathroom. we can look back and laugh now.

i think with all the crap we have done in the past 6 years with all sides of family we shouldn't be surprised anymore. dh and dad have been cracking jokes. the favorite dad will say "i need this like a need a hole in the head, oh wait i do need a hole in the head LOL"(the procedure to drain the blood clot is to drill a hole in the head, oh dear sounds scarier then it is).but its dad you can't help but to laugh at your father's jokes

kassia, I'm glad the news about your dad isn't as bad as originally thought. Also glad viola's IEP conference went well. We face that next week when we meet with the county Mental Retardation folks. They've fought us for over 3 years, saying DS wasn't retarded. Keep up the good mother/daughter work. We're all with you.

i hope your meeting goes well robin. we are our child's best advocates, and the harder we fight the more we can break them down.
