Vegas Wedding Question

DF and I have finally decided that a Vegas wedding would be fun. I have been married before (had the big wedding) and DF doesn't really want a big affair. So...we went back and forth about what we were going to do. Maybe a small ceremony for close friends here, maybe go to the courthouse, etc., and decided that Vegas would be fun and different.

We have set a date for Friday 30 Novemeber (that was when we thought we were going to go to the courthouse and they do weddings on Fridays). Anyway, we're gonna keep that date.

So...what I want to know is if any of you have done the Vegas wedding thing. What did you think? Any good recommendations on places? I have been to Vegas a few times, but never to get married!

Tneah-do you have any ideas?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Oh, and let me extend an invitation to any of my forum friends that want to join us!!!

Okay, Tamster...

You will have to give me a full report when you get back.

I can't wait until Rob and I make it to 25 years!!!

I've been to 2 Vegas weddings and LOVED it! One was at Caeser's and the other at the Flamigo. Both had dinner & dancing after and then everyone was free to do whatever. I think at one of them we went to a brunch the next day, but both times we stayed for multiple days and made a mini-vacation for ourselves. Which was great because we really hadn't had Vegas as a vacation destination before but now we love to go for quick weekends.

Go for it - have a great time - Best wishes, congrats, etc...

My DH and I got married in Vegas six years ago. We actually got married in one of those cheesy Vegas wedding chapels -- not the kind in a hotel, but the stand-alone kind. It's called Little Chapel of the West. I think it cost $200. Anyway, I had a blast. It looked like a tiny church, and all of my 40 guests fit inside (although some may have been standing). But they have weddings every 30 minutes, so it's truly Vegas-style. Then we all went off to the MGM, where we rented out a small Mexican restaurant for a couple of hours for drinks and appetizers. Then everyone went off and enjoyed Vegas. It was very inexpensive and tons of fun. No pressure, no fuss. The next day, my DH and I flew first class to Hawaii and stayed at a nice hotel for 10 days, since we saved so much $$ on the wedding! All of the big hotels have wedding chapels, too, which would be convenient and fun. I think when I looked into those, they were around $3000-$5000, but I don't know what they cost now.

Good luck!

It's me again. I think I got the name of the chapel wrong -- it may be Little Church of the West. Anyway, I'm sure there's a web site. Check it out -- it was very cute.

I don't know anything about Vegas weddings, but I wanted to tell you congratulations!!

And girlfriend, what are you going to wear? Do you have that stuff figured out yet?

Hey Lorie,

A friend of mine I used to work with was married in Vegas a couple of years ago. I don't remember which chapel they used, but it was broadcast on the 'net, so those of us who couldn't go could still watch!

If we are gong to do Vegas, we definitely want to do it Vegas-style. You know, the Vegas wedding chapel, etc. Probably won't have an Elvis impersonator do it, but something fun. It's only going to be DF and I. I guess we could have people come, but I don't want people to feel like they have to fly out there because we could also have a party here when we get back.

I did a Google search, but you cannot even imagine how many pages and pages of sites there are. I am hoping you guys can help me narrow it down.

No, I have no idea yet what I am going to wear. I guess that depends upon what we decide to do. I will probably look for a cute dress but nothing fancy and probably not white.

Any ideas or suggestions are welcome!

My sister got married in Vegas almost 8 years ago. She stayed at the Paris....not sure where she got married. The trip was all inclusive...airfare, hotel, and wedding package. She loved it!!!

Good Luck and Congratulations!!!

I also watched my friend get married on the net in Vegas, but I don't know what chapel it was. I remember at the end of the wedding they held up signs for all the people back home who couldn't be there. Congratulations and God Bless you both.

I know nothing about Vegas weddings, but I wanted to say: Congrats!!:) and What a fun!! idea. I hope you guys have a blast and its sets the tone for a fun enduring marriage:7 :7

Lorie!

So sorry, I did not get back sooner, congrads on your upcoming nutpials in Sin City!:7

As far as wedding chapels go, I just am aware of the ones right up the street from the Stratosphere, and some of those are kinda gross quite frankly. Hum, I wonder which one Carmen Electra and Rodman used? They would have picked one of the better ones I am sure, even though they obviously did not last. I just want you to go to a good one. Let me ask around and I will get back to you.
I also wonder if some of the hotels offer them same sort of thing? Probably more $$ though. Let me check, will get back.:)

Here is a link to the Elvis themed weddings.http://www.vegas.com/weddings/themedweddings/elvis.html

Hope it works. I would call each one and ask where its located. Which hotels its by? If its up Las Vegas BLVD going towards Charleston, then that area is questionable. If its is down the strip (Las Vegas BLVD) towards Mandalay Bay hotel, then it will be nicer for sure. Does that make sense? Hope this helps, will look some more though.

For our fifth year anniversary we renewed our vows in one of those small chapels by an Elvis impersonator. My husband's aunt and uncle stood up for us. I walked down the aisle and we had a blast! We also got to see our names on the billboard in front. The chapel was recommended by the concierge at the hotel. They even video taped it!
We originally were going to get married in Vegas but friends and family raised such a stink that we had a small wedding home. ( They wanted to celebrate with us but could not afford or could not travel to Vegas. We were watching Family Jewels with Gene Simmons. He was in Vegas and a woman asked him to walk her down the aisle. It was the same chapel we were in! It will be fun!

Lorie, that is so cool. DH didn't get married in Vegas but we did elope and got married at the courthouse. I am all about low-key affordable weddings. I respectfully request that you do it at one of the chapels with online feed so we can watch you get married. How cool would that be??? :) Oh yeah, and can I come to the bachelorette party? Somehow I have this feeling that will be a TOTAL blast. :)

Lorie - I don't have any suggestions or advice but I just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS!!! How fun... a Vegas wedding! My DH & I eloped & were married in a little wedding chapel in Jacksonville, FL almost 19 years ago. It was a cute little place named Harmony Hall & we have never regretted having such a small affair. When we went back to visit & celebrate our 15 year anniversary, it was shut down & boarded up. But what a wonderful memory! So enjoy & be sure to tell us all about it afterward (with pictures)! BTW, we were married in November too.:)

Lorie, Congratulations! It sounds like fun to me!!

Funny that I should read this today. My DH and I are considering going to Vegas in February and he asked me to marry him again there. After 13 years we want to get married all over again. I have to admit it was pretty romatic.

Do you have to get a marriage licence in Nevada to renew your vows? Also, should a person book a chapel ahead of time or can you just walk into a place and do it on the a whim?

Oh, now I am excited!

Hi Lorie,

My DH and I got married at the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel almost 6 years ago - and it was a blast! We had Elvis do it, but there are all kinds of options (Clint Eastwood, Cinderella, Star Trek - you name it). It took 1/2 an hour and was broadcast on the web. We took 5 friends with us and spent a week having a great time (eating .. casinos ... shows ... the Hoover Dam ... hiking in the Valley of Fire, etc...).

Everybody who came still says it was the most fun they've had at a wedding. If you want a little chapel thing like that, make reservations (ours cost around $500), but there are even drive through chapels where you don't even get out of the car. Getting your license is really easy, too - just look for a long line of people holding little squares of paper and golf pencils. You fill out about 3 lines and then show them ID ... you promise you're not still married to somebody else and that's it.

Congratulations - let me know if you have any questions!
