Varicose Veins

Hi all,

I'm here mostly to complain tonight LOL :)

Varicose veins run in my family, and I got a couple of little ones in my first pregnancy -- I didn't worry too much about it except for one particularly painful one in my groin area. At the time my OB told me that he had good news and bad news for me. The good news was that it would recede after the baby was born... the bad news was that this is completely genetic, and it would come back sooner and get worse with each subsequent pregnancy.

Sooo... now I'm only 15 weeks, and there it is again (ALREADY!!)... BLAAAAAH! I guess I can't say that I wasn't forewarned, but it's a bummer to think about living with it for 25 more weeks (tick, tick, tick LOL :) )
I can only imagine what this is going to feel like when I have a huge ol' belly putting pressure on it later in my pregnancy. At least I know that the exercise will help (I really think that is why I didn't get any more than I did on my legs... they aren't overly noticeable).

I was taking Sheila's Healthy Moms classes with pregnancy #1, and I know that she does not recommend belly belts as a general rule because they tend to keep moms from using their abs and that tends to compromise posture... anyone have any other ideas? I don't think that the tight stockings thing would work because the area of concern is right at the top of my leg where my underwear line hits... in my last pgcy, it would throb if I sat for too long because that would cut down on blood flow.

Hi Susan! Sorry to hear of your dilemma. You sound so disappointed (understandably so). Perhaps your ob has a suggestion since he seems familiar with varicose veins. Wish I could help. Take Care!
