USING A STEP AS A BENCH

Hi everyone! This is my first post here although I have been using Cathe's videos for a few months now. I am finally starting to increase my collection! I am now brave enough to start trying her step videos and I am getting ready to buy a step. I have a question though. I want my step to also function as a bench to do my weight training on like Cathe does in her Pyramids, Pure Strength, etc.
How high will it need to be in order to function as this? I am trying to figure out how many additional risers I would need to purchase. Thanks for the help!

She ususally uses 8 risers for the bench (14 inch height), that means you need four more. So far, I've been using my eight inch step height and that works too.

In Fall they will be comming out with the 'Tall Step' which will come with four risers - you might want to wait for that.....

Norma-
Just be sure not to get the step that Cathe uses in many of her strength workouts, as it is not good for step aerobics. Get the classic step with the 2" risers, which can be used for both. For strength training, you don't need many risers, except for step-up exercises. I have not found it necessary to use more than one or two sets of risers. In fact, some of the exercises can be done directly on the carpet, without a step at all. For step-up exercises, you will need a 12 or 14" surface. For that, at this point, you should definitely wait for the mini-step that the previous poster recommended.
Hope this helps!
