upper trap involvement

ok, no matter how light my weights are, when my upper body muscles are worked i engage my upper traps no matter what. even if my arm muscles aren't fatigued yet, i'm always unconciously contracting my traps. this has caused them to become more developed than i would like. do any of you have this problem and how can i eliminate it?

Hmmmm....makes me wonder.... well, I think this is a form issue. I have been rolling my shoulders around pretending I am doing different upper body exercises, it seems like if my shoulders roll forward and are somewhat rounded then my traps become engaged, however if I roll my shoulders back and down, they stay out of the picture and my lats become engaged....

does that make sense?:)

Hi-

Just read your post and in total agreement w/ Janis... Keep those shoulders back and down and you'll engage the correct muscles.

Take care, Lynn M.
