Update on where Debbie H. has been

Hi everyone!

I know a bunch of you have been wondering where is our dear Den Momma Debbie H., since she hasn't been online much in the last week. Just a quick head's up for you.

She's totally fine, but last week a good friend of hers who was only 32 died suddenly, apparently having developed sepsis a few days after a chemo treatment for a recently-diagnosed cancer (for which she had a good prognosis). She left behind a husband and 8-month-old daughter. As you all might imagine, Debbie has been grieving, providing her warm and special support to other grieving friends, and she had the visitation and calling hours, and then the funeral on Friday.

As if that weren't enough, in the midst of all that she was scheduled to host her big Bunko group and, in true Debbie fashion, she decided the show must go on, and she cleaned and cooked like a maniac to get ready for them.

She's feeling much better but is trying to catch up around her house and on her teaching commitments, so she hasn't had any online time to speak of -- and she misses everybody!!

I'm sure Deb will be back in just a day or two, but in the meantime I wanted you guys to know what's been happening to our sweet friend, and that she's okay. Thanks y'all!

How sad for Debbie about her friend... such a shame....what is sepsis??

Glad Debbie herself is okay though...Let her know we are thinking of her and to take her time coming back here...she's been real busy with both the good and the bad!
 
Mama Deb is such an inspiration. She is one of the sweetest, most caring people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. It's sad to hear about her friend, but at the same time I'm glad to know she's doing okay. Thanks, Kathy.:)

Thank you for the update Kathy S.
Debbie's absence has been noticeable. How very sad she must be for her dear friend and the family. I'm sure many of us will pray for them now and in the time to come.

Kathy, just want to echo everyone else and thank you for the update on Debbie...she's such a sweetie and I'm so sorry for what happened to her friend! Sending big hugs her way...
 
Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that! What an awful thing for that poor woman's family!

Debbie, I'm glad you're okay. I'm sure your support means a great deal to this family. I've been thinking about you!

How sad. Prayers and hugs for Debbie H and her friends family.

Wendy, sepsis is a bacterial infection of the blood, which can then lead to infection of any and all organs of the body.
 
Thanks so much for the update, Kathy. Deb and her friend and family are surely in our prayers. Deb is one of the geniuinely nicest people I've ever met. I know God will take extra special care of her at this tragic time. And she knows all of her friends here send their love as well.
 
Thanks so much for the info, I have been wondering why I haven't heard from her. I live in the same area, is the friend in question the same one mentioned in the Akron Beacon Journal that worked for the city??? How sad, indeed. My prayers go out to her and Debbie during this very difficult time.

Please pass on my sympathies, I will not bother her with a PM right now, and let her know that I would be happy to do anything to help.

Whew...long!

My dear friends~I thought I'd already cried a river of tears but after reading this, it is overflowing! You guys will never know what all your kind words mean to me. (Thank you all for the personal E-mails & PM's too! I was wondering how you all knew?? Stinker KathyS! Thanks Kas, love ya'!) I feel so out of the loop with you all and it just seems since the roadtrip that things just will not let up. It's not all bad. I planned a luncheon here today after class and it is so nice to be able to sit & talk to my students/friends on a personal basis. I cannot begin to tell you what wonderful friends God has blessed me with, each and every one of them AND you, holds such a special place in my heart. If it weren't for Cathe, KathyS & Lorrayne's overwhelming support last week after this awful tragedy, it would have been much much tougher to endure. Now, coming here and reading this, just helps my broken heart to mend even more. We had a practice last nite for my instructors which some of our students attend (guess they can't get enough workouts! :7) and we all started the night off with a good cry and then, decided Heather would have wanted us to be HAPPY...sooooo, we put on our HAPPY faces and danced the first routine in her honor! She loved aerobics! I have to share something very cute with you all....When I went thru the line at the calling hours, Heather's Mom shared with me something too cute. Heather's 6 month old daughter, Olivia, was trying to pull herself up with her head in her infant seat and Heather's Mom told me she was doing crunches just like Heather did when she did Cathe tapes! Is that cute or what? See Cathe even has effected a 6 month old! Again, THANK YOU all from the bottom of my heart. This is why I love this place so. I hope to be back in full force soon posting away. Has Limecat caught me yet??? I need to go check. Have a great evening all and give your loved ones a HUGE hug when you see them HUGS 2 U ALL!!! (Conni, Yes, Heather was a city worker in Akron. She worked in the permits/zoning department. They lost two employees that week.)

Oh Debbie, I'm so sorry to hear about this. I will say a prayer for you and your friends and family. I've been through tragedy like this and know the importance of having a wonderful support system. You have such a wonderful and comforting presence about you, your friends are lucky to have you as well.

I hope to see you more often as time permits, I miss your posts. Take good care of yourself!
