Update on my DS in his new home

We dropped Tristan off at his new residence last Monday. He will be living in a group home geared specifically towards his syndrome, Prader Willi. Last night we called him and he is doing wonderfully. He likes his job making parts, although he doesn't know what they are parts for. He has a girlfriend, but doesn't know anything about her except her name. They increased his daily calories from 800 up to 1200, and he was happy about having pizza for dinner last night. Tristan is walking on the treadmill for an hour each day and has already lost 6 pounds! (Don't panic, PW people are geared completely differently from normal folk and losing 6 pounds in a week is not a bad thing.) I was afraid he would be a little homesick after a week, but he sounded very happy. At last he has a life! Such a relief.

BIG (((((((HUGS))))))))) ROBIN!
That is wonderful, wonderful news! I am so happy for you and Tristan. (I love that name by the way) It sounds like he is settling in very well. I'm glad he doesn't seem homesick. That's a horrible feeling. I hope he continues to do well there and be very happy. You must be soooo relieved!

Great news Robin!!! Sounds like Tristan is doing well...which is so good to hear. Thanks for sharing...:)

That's such great news, Robin! It must be such a load off your mind to know that he is comfortable and happy! YEAY! :)

Oh, Robin, I'm soooo happy for you and for Tristan. It's great that he's happy and absolutely adorable that he has a girlfriend, but he only knows her name:) And good for him on the weight loss!

That's great to hear! I have been in situations where I have helped with the diagnosis of PW syndrome, but have never had the opportunity to recieve any of the follow up on how people with this do. I never even knew that there were group homes for this!

Thanks again and I hope that he continues to do well!

Hey Robin - I'm so glad to hear about Tristan! He must be very excited about all the changes and new things, and it sounds like he's really enjoying himself. Keep us posted!

that is great he is enjoying his new home. LOL at the new girlfriend how cute is that. and having a job makes anybody (but my lazy bum brother) feel great about themselves. that has to be a great motivation for him. now go take a nice hot bubble bath with some candles, you worked hard to get him there and you must be tired.

Robin,

I'm so happy for your whole family. I'm happy for Tristan because he's in an environment where he can flourish and have a good life in a controlled and supervised environment. I'm happy for you and your DH because you have EARNED the rest and the break you now have. Boy, talk about answered prayer!! Oh, I LOVE that Tristan has a girlfriend:+

Robin,

I'm :D that DS is happy and adjusting. I'm :D that you and DH get some long needed relief and can relax knowing Tristan is now having a life of his own.

Bless you.
