Are you sure he has to go for a 2 year unaccompanied? When my dh went they gave him a choice between 1 year unaccompanied or two years accompanied. I've never heard of a 2 year unaccompanied assignment.

Diane, there are several positions, Command, Command Sergeant Major, and some senior staff that requires a two year assignment regardles of accompanied or un-acompanied statsus.

Gotcha! I guess I didn't realize the Army and Air Force were different when it came to the time frame of remotes. In the AF a remote is one year no matter what your rank.
