Update on microwave popcorn bowl

I just used it for the first time and it is a keeper. I put in 1/3 cup regular popcorn, sprayed the kernals lightly with non stick spray and salt( optional) and cooked it for about 3 1/2 " in the mocrowave oven. Delicious and not one burned kernal.

This item is recomended for any popcorn lovers. It is less expenxive than those bags! And has no bad fats at all.

It is at this website and it is the microwave popcorn popper.

I had a cheaper version similar to this that I purchased in 1987 believe it or not. It wore out and I have been looking for one for a few years now. This one is made much better than my original.

Wal-Mart sells an Orville Redenbacher microwave popcorn popper that I have been using for years. It works great! Mine cost about twelve dollars. One thing I've learned, though, is that the popcorn seems to be crunchier if you salt it after you pop it. I have no idea why. Also, I spray mine with butter-flavored Pam after I pop it so the salt will stick to the kernels .

Judy-

Thanks for the link! Do you have to use anything besides the popper with this one? I read on one of them that there are conductors or filters or something you have to buy for each use.

I bought one at Target for around $7 - $8 last month. It was in the aisle with the microwave ovens. This bowl doesn't need any filters or anything (I had another one that did - I pitched it when I got this new one)

One note - I wanted to clarify something: I'd originally suggested the cooking spray and salt, but I usually put it on after the corn is popped. If it works either way (before popping or after) great, but I don't want to cause a kitchen fire ;-) I don't know how hot that stuff can get before it ignites, and the popping corn in that bowl gets pretty hot (I burned myself with an unpopped kernal once)

I just enjoyed a huge batch last night with the family - the kids love popcorn, and DH can't resist once the smell is in the air :)

Edited to add: I just checked the link above and it's the exact one that Target had. If you have one near you, it could save you a few dollars.
