Louis L. Hollingshead
Louis L. HollingsheadCUYAHOGA FALLS -- Louis L. Hollingshead, 86, died July 28, 2008.
Born in Akron, he was a lifetime area resident and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, recently receiving the Medal of Honor. A current member of the First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls, he was a former member of North Haven Evangelical Covenant Church. Mr. Hollingshead graduated from The University of Akron and retired from Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. in 1981 as a Sr. Tire Engineer with 40 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patricia; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Rev. Marvin Brown of Silver Lake, Daryl and Glen Binnig of Syracuse, N.Y.; son and daughter-in-law, David and Debbie Hollingshead of Green; grandchildren, Christine Lair, Cheryl DiPofi, Jodie McDonald, Patty Sawyer, Leah Haponski, Julie Crouthamel and Jonathan Hollingshead and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Cece Hollingshead.
Friends may call Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Redmon Funeral Home, where Louis' son-in-law Rev. Marvin Brown will conduct service Thursday at 11 a.m. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park with military honors provided by American Legion Charles Faust Post 281 of Cuyahoga Falls.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls, 245 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. Mr. Hollingshead's video tribute will be available at www.redmonfuneralhome.com
