I took a pretest for Language Arts reading part and got 68% passing but not good enough for me so I am studying to improve. Now I am trying to get my brain to remember fractions and yes I am floundering:( But I am now going to class everyday for an hour or so in the morning. Working real hard to pass this test.

Good for you! Keep studying. I'm a high school English teacher, and unfortunately, kids think that getting a GED is much easier than graduating high school. They soon discover, however, that passing that GED test isn't nearly as easy as they thought it was going to be!

Keep up the good work! You're doing a terrific thing for yourself and for your future. All your hard work will be worth it when you get that diploma in your hand!:D :7 :D :7 :D

Lesliemarie I am sooooo proud of you. Hang in there as I know you will and you'll do just fine}( }( }( .

Sarahinva you are absolutely correct about the test being difficultx( x( x( , b/c I have a sister who took the test 3 times before she received her GED.

You know what Lesliemarie, don't worry about your scores. I mean worry about them, but don't lose sleep over them. But all you need to do is pass so you can move on to your career. No one looks at your GED scores, they just want to know you have it.

And in my own personal experience, having a GED rather than a HS diploma gives the impression that you're a unique, hard working & courageous individual. Just keep working hard & good things will come.

Keep up the good work! You can do it, and you will! Let me know if you ever need a refresher on those fractions lol...

UUGGHHH!!!! The math!! It is killing me! and them story problems! who invented them anyway LOL. I can do the fractions if it wasn't in a stupid story problem LOL. I am so pulling my hair out over it,

You'll get it. You'll get it. Give yourself time to absorb it. Perhaps walk (or run!) away from it for awhile. Letting it drive you crazy is counterproductive - remember the reason you started on this journey in the first place. Have you looked for help online? There are some good free online math tutorial pages. I use them regularly to brush up on my math skills so I can help my struggling dd.

Hang in there girl - we're all rooting for you!

Lesliemarie,

Hang in there! Word problems are killers in math. I always liked the one that went:

If you turn on the hot water tap on full it will fill a plugged bathtub in 10 minutes. The cold tap will fill the tub in 9 minutes. A full tub will drain in 5 minutes. If you leave the hot and cold taps on and the drain unplugged, will the tub overflow? if so how long will it take.

Heeelllllooooo, what kind of butthead would do this?

Do you have trouble with the multiple choice test format. My daughter couldn't pass her drivers permit, she couldn't get past "the most correct answer" mindset.

I taught her to read the answers first before reading the question so that she wouldn't prejudge what the answer should be.

Dave

LOL on the bathtub one! you are so right, who in the world is going to do that?
I really don't have problems with multiple choice, it kind of helps me the most. I just have a hard time when reading it, it takes me like several times reading it trying to figure out what the operation is going to be. some I pick up and do so easy and others is like brain surgery to me LOL. I am going to take a break, the teacher is pushing and she is going to have me take the math part of the GED as soon as she feels I am ready to take it, then we will work on the other stuff, which I am really not worried about, well maybe the essay part of the GED LOL. My hubby is so supportive of me while I am doing this, he tries to help me.
