Update on FIL

I mentioned the other day that my father in-law had an aneurysm. He is having surgery today, the doctor says it should be pretty routine. I am just about to leave for the hospital to sit with the family. I am praying that everything goes well.

The bummer about this whole situation is that DH and I were supposed to leave for Las Vegas today - we would actually already be there- and today is my birthday! So much for my Vegas birthday celebration!! Oh well, our place is here with our family. We can always go to Vegas another time.

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. I will let you know how it turns out.

I hope everything goes well for your FIL's surgery. I will be thinking of him and hoping he has a quick recovery. Please let us know how the surgery goes. Sorry you and your DH had to miss your trip. Hopefully you can go another time. I bet everyone appreciates the fact that you are there with them.
 
Happy Birthday, Edie!! I'm so sorry for the way you have to spend it. Your FIL is in my thoughts and prayers and I hope his surgery goes without a hitch. Maybe you can take that trip a little later on;)

Well, the surgery went very well!:) His surgeon is actually a client of mine!!! I take care of his dogs. He came out after surgery and said everything went fine; the aneurysm was about 8 cm, the size of a small orange. They replaced that damaged section of aorta with a piece of gore tex!! He will be in the hospital until Tuesday or Wednesday.

We will probably go back in later to see him and for my birthday dinner. It ended up being a great day, knowing that he is going to be fine!!:7

So glad to hear it went well. My son has a brain aneurysm that at some point they will do the procedure on. It's just like for heart - up through the groin.

Edie, I was just wondering about you this morning on the way into work. I'm so sorry you had to miss your trip. I missed the Roadtrip last summer because my mother was in the hospital. I'm glad to hear the surgery went well. Hopefully you can reschedule the trip. Best wishes and happy belated....

Well, we went to visit him in the hospital today. He's still in intensive care, but doing great!! He's already talking about horses and getting a new cow dog (Border Collie) and lots of other stuff. He chatted with me and DH for over an hour!! He's truly in remarkable shape for his age and we're so glad he's doing well!!:)
