Update on Des Moines job

Well, this didn't pan out. I was supposed to be flying out there tomorrow for an interview on Friday. I've been waiting for them to send me the flight information and the tickets, but hadn't received them. I emailed the recruiter I was working with to find out if she knew anything. She just called me and said she was on the phone with the company when I emailed her. They have decided to go in a different direction with the position and they'll need someone with a different skill set when they get it all worked out.

I'm a little disappointed, but not really. My dh didn't want to move to Iowa, but now I've got him thinking about moving out of New York - which is what I wanted anyway.

The company's logic really does make a lot of sense and I'm surprised they didn't think of it sooner. But whatever...

Actually, I've kind of been thinking since the whole thing began last week that maybe it was happening for a reason. My first thought was that it was happening so I'd learn to appreciate what I've got here. We've got great schools, a great grocery store chain, I love my doctors and hairdresser. But then, I think it may have been more as a way for me to approach my husband about the subject of relocating. And I was pleasantly surprised at his reaction.

I have also been contacted by someone in Phoenix Arizona, and I'm supposed to call her today. They're 3 hours behind - so I'm just waiting. I'd MUCH rather move to Arizona than Iowa. I want to be somewhere hot!

Come to Texas then!!! it's already in the 90's here andit's only May!

good luck! it's great that your dh is discussing relocation if that 's what you want:D

I've been to Austin and thought it was very nice. But, I don't think Texas is in the cards for this family.

too bad about Des Moines! I live in a suburb of DSM and it is a great place to raise a family. Very good schools. If something else comes up don't discount Iowa!:)

Arizona! WHOOO HOOO! If you move there wull you adopt me and take me with you :) I know I would love Arizona. Best of luck to yoou. What type of work do you do?

Terri

Don't they have big bugs and spiders in Arizona? See, that would be a HUGE factor for me in anywhere I moved.

"Hey Shelley, we're sending you to Australia, all expenses paid, buying you a house, great job...."

"No thanks, they have way too many kinds of spiders in Australia - it's definitely NOT arachnaphobic-friendly".;)

Yes, they do have big spiders and poisonous reptiles in Arizona. Actually, when we were out that way on our honeymoon (really, this happened in Death Valley, California), there was a spider so large in the middle of the road that I could see it from the drivers seat of the minivan I was driving. When I straddled it, I could see it rolling across the road in my rearview mirror. It was very bizzare to this New York girl! But...I have no fear of bugs. And snakes don't creep me out either.

Arizona sounds good. Too bad about Iowa, it's a pretty decent place to live, although I would take warm weather over the winter season any day.

I recently accepted a job in San Jose,CA and will be moving from Colorado in August. It's exciting, but also very scarey. I always go through moving remorse. Plus, trying to figure out the moving company to use and all that stuff is such a pain.

Anyways, best of luck to you in all future moving and career adventures.

Just reading that is giving me an anxiety attack. I can't even imagine that, and I don't want to. I'm never going to visit Bobbi, ever. She can just come to me.

I have no problem with snakes and reptiles.

Nice to e-meet you Terri!

I live in Greeley, aka, the town that smells. Just kidding. I really like Greeley. I've lived here for nearly 5 years as I complete grad. school (this summer!. Even though it's small, I am close enough to Denver and Boulder that I can get a good shopping fix every now and then, and I can hike in some pretty cool places, too.

Are you as sick of the weather as me? Man, I miss the drought, well at least the sunny days, not so much the lack of water.
