UPDATE (neighbors & dog terrorisim)

Hi Everyone,

I want to make a contribution to our community and want a leash law out where I live.

I just got an e-mail from the County Commissioners Office. They will be sending me a time to go to a meeting &camp; (I don't know what &camp; means yet) and speak during the public comments section. They think that if I do this, I will be on the next ordinance agenda. YEAH! I don't know what ordinance agenda is yet, but I'll learn.

At least something is occupying my thoughts from this recent event.

Good for you!!! I hope you get the leash law passed. Your neighbors are irresponsible and probably won't leash their dogs, but maybe a few hefty fines and they will get the message. :)

Janie, the ordinance agenda is the list of ordinances on which the governing body will vote. There are two different kinds. One is called a "consent agenda" when all the ordinances are voted on at the same time, usually an "all in favor" & an "all opposed" type vote. A "regular agenda" has ordinances that are voted on one by one & are usually voted on with a roll call (meaning each commissioner will vote yea or nay individually on each ordinance instead of all at once).

Really both have the same end result. I emailed you a sample ordinance so the only work your govmt officials will have to do is actually vote on it. ;-)

And let me just say again kudos to you for taking the bull by the horns & shaking it. :) I deal w/so many residents who do nothing but complain yet aren't willing to take any action or responsibility. I wish I had more people like you living in my town!

Laura,

The next meeting will be next Tuesday, and I will have in hand the ordinance to hand to them.

Very excited about this, and a breath of fresh air, instead of ranting and raving about our neighbors, I'll be doing something about it. A great feeling indeed.

I'm so glad I know you,

Janie
