Unsung Heroes

I had the opportunity to meet up with some old friends that I hadn't seen in years for lunch the other day. The last time I talked to the one gal, she had one child. I was blown away when she whipped out a photo of her family including herself, her DH, and her SIX children---5 of whom are adopted.

Their beautiful family is a mix of ethnic colors and races, some in good shape, others in great need. I almost cried when I saw the photo and heard the stories of each child and how they came to be included in this special family.

I so admire people that have the courage to stand up and do the extraordinary. I bow to them and hope I can some day emulate their bravery.

Michele , you are so right. After raising a son with diablilites, I have to admire anyone who actually chooses this job. Please extend my admiration and thanks to your friend.

I agree with both of you. What I find amazing is that she probably would look at you very strangely if you said it seemed like a "job"- it seems the heart's work isn't work sometimes!

(is it really obvious I don't have kids?)

Robin, I'll do that! And you are so right. I would look at that and say it's too much--I can't do it.

Amy, you are dead on. She doesn't think she is anything special at all. She simply views it as her life..it's just what it is, and she LOVES her children. She talks about how they have added richness to her life and she can't imagine her life without them.

ETA better grammar--LOL!

Michele

Wow!! That is incredible! You're absolutely right, she's a hero! I have to thank the heavens for people like her. They bring such richness to everyone they touch. Thanks for sharing Michele.

That is so inspirational! People like that are my absolute heroes, and earn every ounce of my respect. To be able to give like that without a thought! I always thought that adopted children are the most special children in the world. Sure I absolutely adore my children and would die for them, but I didn't have a choice, I got what was born. Adopted children are CHOSEN, and that is so special and wonderful. :)
