My daughter turned 16 this week, she does well at school, is helpful and respectful at home and gives me minimal grief. About a month ago she asked if she could have her nose pierced for her birthday. I have no problem with piercings (on other people's Kids;-)) and think that a small diamond nose ring looks quite pretty and delicate. I gave it a lot of thought and consideration and figured (thanks Barbara Colloruso), it's not immoral or illegal and no one is getting hurt. I told her that yes she could have that for her birthday and I braced myself to go through with it. Last week she came to me and said "Mommy, it's enough for me to know that I can have it pierced if I want to but what I really want is an electric guitar and an amp." I must admit that I was relieved but walked away shaking my head and wondering, what kind of test was that and how did I do?
